Unacknowledged ways that characters are alike

Angel/Oz: two taciturn, thoughtful guys with an overpowering inner darkness that means that- under certain conditions-they'll try and kill people. Also tend to be utterly sincere when it comes to the women they love, plas well as having a terrible jealous streak.
In fact in S4 they both end up putting in danger their ex's current partner before eventually leaving town.

Buffy/Fred: Got pulled out of another dimension and spent the next year beset by emotional problems because of it.

Connor/Faith: Young, superpowered teen with trust issues and a bad upbringing manipulated by someone they have a strong emotional connection to so they end up commiting cold-blooded murder and fillfully aiding in an apocalyptic scenario.
Angel ends up saving them both from themselves and still cares about them both greatly.

OMG, you are right! And Buffy forgave both! And what you said in the other thread: "Angel influenced by Andrew: In her mind, there probably aren't any good Vampyrs. Vampires" seems to show that Andrew made an impression on Angel...

But Andrew has the superpower that other people keep forgetting him. Angel didn't recognize who he was in S8.

Yeah, although Twilight!Angel did remove two of the most important people to Buffy; Giles and Faith- saying what they represented. Andrew drew a complete blank, so I'm guessing he didn't make that much of an impression in S5.

Have to keep the joke running... 😀 But after Twilight, Angel lowed himself to Andrew's level. 😱

And more: Angel tried to make amends by resurrecting Giles (and succeeded); Andrew tried to make amends by resurrecting Tara (and was stopped).
 
Tara was in heaven- and Andrew didn't care because he was a selfish jackass.
Giles was in the clutches of a demon- and Angel rescued him (at a price but still).

Not really that similar. One was a worthy goal that took ages and careful planning. The other was an idiot with a magic book.

Ah yes, the beginning of Dark Horses attempt to undo *coughwhitewash* all the damage Whedon has done to Angel's character in season 8.

And it worked (for the Scoobies, at least) - hundreds of people dead, Giles resurrected, all forgiven. But I love A&F S9, so I can't complain much... ;)

Buffy and Cordelia. Since Buffy was the Cordelia at her old school, and from time to time still flirted with at least wanting that life style. Then again Cordy learnt from Buffy too and matured as a result.

I think that this comparison continues, both inherit ancient abilities from a previous generations and are given a mission, which they both accept, despite initially resisting it. They both fall for Angel. They both enter, and then leave, paradise. There are others but Cordy is always a mirror image of Buffy for me.
 
@Samuel Reyes Disagree. I think Cordelia has a lot of potential she's very smart, and has a lot of good qualities its just that they are often hidden. That's the point of the character that she's in a false position at least at the start of the series.

Let me clarify; by 'without potential', I meant that Cordelia was not a potential Slayer. She was definitely a lot smarter than they gave her credit for and became quite the asskicker over the course of Angel. I probably should have worded it better. 🙄

OH MY WORD... that button.
Joyce and Anya: Both made out with Giles. Both treated Dawn as a kid. Both were non-hostile to Spike from the start.
 
Willow and Wesley and Giles: all of them start out or seem to start out as dorky, smart, awkward people, and then slowly we are shown their inner darkness, and pretty soon they're stealing babies and murdering people. Willow and Giles also have experienced magic highs
Willow and Faith: both sought power as a way to feel better about themselves, and lost control of that power, turned on their friends and murdered people and then sought redemption

in Season 6, I believe Willow, Spike, Warren, and even Buffy mirror each other in their abusive behavior
