Unaired Pilot?

Okay so I was browsing the page of some actress at imdb and it said she was in an episode of BTVS called Unaired Pilot. Well, I'm not as dumb as to think that was an episode or anything.

I was just wondering if there was any information on this pilot? Was it the same as the one we saw??? Was there a different plot, script, etc.? Why didn't they air it? Anything would help. Thanks
 
There was a different pilot. It was shorter (I think it was 38 minutes as opposed to the standard 44 or so) and it had a different actress playing Willow, which is the main reason it was never aired. As far as I understand it, the pilot was used to pitch the show to networks, right? And once the show was picked up for filming, the network said that they needed to get a new Willow. (The girl who played her was like, an uber-geek. And a little...ok kind of a lot overweight, which a TV network would never approve). Plus Alyson is just a better actress.
 
Ah yea, it's pretty painful to hear Riff Regan say those Willow-lines, and you can just hear in your head how Alyson would have said them and how much better that would have sounded... (Recasting the role of Willow was probably the best decision ever made in history, and well, choosing Alyson of course.)

And I think the pilot was actually only like 25 minutes or something... it doesn't really have time to get that interesting... It sometimes surprise me that they got picked up... But yea, maybe I'm just comparing with everything else (the real) BtVS.
 
i'm so agreeing with you epo! its just not the same without our beloved A.h as willow! 😉

and yeah, if thats that pilot got them picked up i'm suprised as well.. lol but damend happy about it though! :happy30:

ooo and the library is wickedly HUGE in this pilot... and you can see its on a smaler budget or something.. cause the airedpilot is of better standar :biggrin2: :: dracula
 
Well... I personally have never heard of Riff... But I looked her up.... And yeah recasting was clearly the better choice! Aly *is* Willow! (or, better to say was, huh!)
 
But there is some things in the pilot that were really good and felt genuine. Like the scene between Xander and Buffy where they talk about all the groups like the filmkids, suburbgangstas and Dirty Girls, that one felt so out of place in the pilot because it was so great.

And Buffy had some line when she was kicking vamp butt something like "You can never watch to many movies!" which I also liked.

I'm not sure, but I think they had the unaired pilot on buffy.nu . Or at least they used to have it uploaded.
 
I watched it like a few days ago, correct me if I am wrong did the other Willow kill Julie Benz with a cross LOL!
 
Darla indeed did die in the pilot by Willow, she wasnt a big part as she was in the offical pilot WTH, and we had no Angel, no Joyce. Buffy was far from blonde.

THe only thing I liked about the unaired pilot was the library, it was WICKED
 
LMAO-do you remember HOW she died in the pilot? It was great! Darla jumps on Xander and is trying to bite him and then Willow (if she can in fact be called that) burns her with a cross (which in this version, apparently kills a vamp). Then, Xander enters camera view as though he were walking in from behind Will! It always cracks me up because one minute he's all on the floor in front of Willow and then suddenly, somehow he's gotten behind her 😀
 
If the unaired pilot would've been broadcast the series opener, the show would've sunk like a concrete block.

It just didn't have the same flow as what we really got for the show.

But, yeah, I do agree that the Library was neat. Very 'gothic'... and come to think of it, how the heck did it fit in the school?

they had a Library wing? somewhat detached from the actual school, but connected by the hallway??
 
Does anyone have the unaired pilot that they can send me? Buffy.nu broke it up into three parts on their site, and the third part doesn't work. That's usually the best part and I really wanna see it.
