Under The Big Top!!

We're taking the grand daughter to the circus this Saturday!! Everybody pray for us. (I hate traveling in Atlanta, I'm a small town guy)

My parents stopped taking me to circuses when I was three or four. Because: One time when we went, the animals all looked half dead. The elephant had droopy eye and looked about ready to pass out...the tiger nearly FELL OVER...and the popcorn was REALLY bad...

*sigh*

I'm a carnival person, myself. 😉

Oooh Circus...there was one near where I live recently, I drove past and one of the houses on the other side of the road had a sign out saying "Free the circus animals!"

I haven't been since I was about 13. No real inclination to go to another one any time soon but I do like the acrobats.

Well, you know how grand parents are with their one and only. There's just no choice in the matter. (She's 4 by the way, and just watching her excitement is a pure thrill not to be missed 0

...which reminds me of a story about my niece's 5th birthday (she's married with 2 children of her own now). At that time, Barney the Dinosaur was all the rage with the kids, and there was a company here in Rome that would do your child's birthday, cake, balloons, games, the works, plus your choice of popular children's characters to host the whole thing. Pam got to pick the host, and of course she chose Barney.

The party was a big hit with her and the other kids with the games, balloons, and ice cream, but when this huge purple monster came out with the cake, all of the kids went into hysterics. To them, Barney was just a little thing on their tv screen, not some 7 foot dinosaur, and he scared the holy crap out of every one of them. (we got the whole party free, because of it)

The really cool thing about the whole experience was that we got it all on video tape. We play it every year on Pam's birthday. It's always the highlight of the party.
