Watching Buffy, I realized that there were a lot of mostly-unimportant people who showed up, did something helpul, and then left or got killed. My favorite character, Jenny, was one of them. So I was wondering; does anybody else have a soft spot for an underappreciated hero (or villain)?

Jenny! :) ::heart::
Anne Steele- I love her. From "Chanterelle" the Pseudo Vampire, to Anne Steele, who runs the shelter for homeless teens. My love of her comes from AtS, and my absolute love for her comes from the Angel Finale, Not Fade Away. I don't want to spoil anything, but I love every minute she's on the screen during NFA.

She's not a superhero, yet she's a hero, and she's like you and me. The big question is......are we like her?

Wesley (To the Buffy characters). They never saw him as he was on Angel and probably only remember him as the bumbling idiot that he was in Season three (Unless Angel told them offscreen somehow.
And Jonathan for obvious reasons.

Yeah, the Scoobies probably never knew how truly awesome he became.
Jonathan. He was the underdog. He was never truly understood, except by Buffy (in Earshot). Even Andrew underestimated him.

And I know he's not considered a hero because he never did anything really selfless, but Ford, in Lie To Me (S2), needs a mention imo because before the scoobygang discovered his secret, he didn't let any of them (not even Buffy) see that he was sick. He was putting on a brave face all along, pretending he was okay. It doesn't excuse what he did, but he was so brave that for those few moments, I would gladly call him a hero.

I think Joyce is under appreciated as a hero. Like when she hit Spike over the head with an axe in School Hard. That was pretty awesome. 🙂

Gunn - the guy is brave and always willing to fight for what's right. Outside of being acknowledged for his muscles, he rarely gets the appreciation he deserves.

TOTALLY agree!!!!

Come to think of it he is kind of underappreciated. He is a human with no special powers other than he is a tough as nails bada$$ and he stands toe to toe with the big gribbly monsters just as much as Angel or Buffy or any of the other 'gifted' heroes.

If I may - on the subject of Gunn....I have two very favorite Gunn moments....

1) in Billy - when he realizes what has happened and tells Fred to hit him over the head hard enough to knock him out and

2) when he refuses Marcus's offer to get out of the W&H basement of hell and says something to the demon like "come on, this heart isn't gonna cut itself out."

ooh the first one, <3, the second one too of course though!
As my new awesome banner by Taake states, Gwen is one of my favorite forgotten heroes! I wanted to see more of her. Yes, she was a theif and a little dodgy but she did help Angel at one point. 😉 Plus, her powers rocked and she could definately kick ass. 😀 I kind of liked her with Gunn too. It was weird but I liked their constant challenging and tension. She was a force to be reckoned with for Angel too! To have to deal with something like not being able to touch others would really make you put up walls....she was a mysterious, intriguing, beautiful rebel.
