Underexplored Character

I know this has been discussed before but I couldn't find a thread for it so which character would you like to see explored more if you could get a movie, spin-off, another season, novel, comic or any other medium?

You can pair that character with other characters (they don't have to be alone). Also what setting (time and location) would you like?

I really, really, really want a Ripper prequel movie or spinoff. It would be set in England and Giles would have to be recast with a younger actor (but in my head Joss would find someone who could do it justice)and many of the characters would be English. There could be some cameos of Watchers here and there but mostly it would be all new characters. It would be set about 15-20 years before Buffy Season 1.
 
I completely agree about Giles. I'd like to have seen a Giles/Ripper movie. I thought that he could have had so much more story. Perhaps more of his past coming back to haunt him.
 
I would have liked to see the Ripper movie... I think that would have been interesting. Also Faith. Maybe if Faith had a spinoff, they'd explore her character and past more and I'd like her move...
 
When I read the post title I immediately thought of Giles. What's neat is that I think it would have been very different from either Buffy or Angel.

Faith is the obvious choice for me, although her mission statement couldn't be "redemption" because Angel already did that, so they would have to find a new purpose for her. Ripper does sound great, a young and reckless Giles 😀 and Ethan Rayne would come back (I've always liked his character)

I COMPLETELY agree with all the Giles/Ripper comments! I would've loved to see more of that side of him! We get a glimpse in "Band Candy," but just a glimpse. It would be interesting to see Giles unGiles-like.

Also Andrew. When he pops up in Angel season 5, he has obviously undergone some sort of change. It would be interesting to see his "evil" to "Rupert Gile's Best Man" transformation.
 
Yeah I would of liked movies with Giles/Ripper, Faith, or maybe even Spike but not any as a spinoff IMO.....new show calls for Cain 😛

I'd have loved to see more of Giles' backstory. We were kind of teased with glimpses of what he was like in the past, but I always wanted a proper backstory.

I'd also have liked to see more of Tara. She was only weakly developed as a character imo.

I agree with both! Personally, I would have really loved to see more episodes(or even a story arc) centered on Giles' past as Ripper. With many more appearances from the hilarious Ethan Rayne! Giles gone bad with Ethan by his side would have been much better villains in s6 than the lame trio. 😛

Tara definitely didn't have enough character development(even though I know some people will disagree with this), she was more in the background than anything. She was only put forward in 'Family' and a few scenes here and there(like when she tried to comfort Buffy in 'The Body').
 
I want a Riley mini-series that explores his military history prior to The Iniaitive. Perhaps in the Spielberg/Hanks Band of Brothers vein. 😛 😀

I think the first slayer movie would be epic win; it would be like Clan of the Cave Bear with vampires and what not.

I totally agree. I actually would have loved to see a show featuring Faith with Giles as her watcher. I REALLY enjoyed the Season 8 arc that featured Faith working with Giles. 🙂
 
-Spike should have had a spin-off.

-Oz should have had something...I just wish that we got to see what he did when he went away.

I hate 'reading' @'s and &'s and BTWs and FYIs and all of the damn abbreviations that people do with show episodes and what not. That drives me crazy. TYPE...it's not that difficult.

Is there anything else you hate that you'd like to get off your chest today?
 
It would have been neat to see some of Giles in his earlier years. Ripper did seem very interesting.

I always wanted to know more about Faith and how she got to where she was when we first met her in S3 of BTVS. Knowing her back story may have made me more sympathetic to her and understand her better.

Oz and his wolf side. He wanted to help Veruca, so I could see him actually helping Nina.

And of course I agree with [MENTION=7585]Kean[/MENTION] a mini-series that explored Riley's military history would be amazing. I always got the feeling like there was a lot there that they could have showed us.
 
My first thought was Oz. As a few others have said, I'd love to see everything he did while he was away trying to cure himself and of course, what he's been up to since he left the series (I don't know if that's been done in any comics or not).

Yes, there's a big arc involving Oz in the season 8 comics.
I agree about giles and faith. Faith was my initial thought though. Im a big fan of her as a character and would loved to have seen here pre season 3 to get to know her better.
 
I would love to see a Spike/Faith pair off in a Season 9 miniseries. (But only if Angel gets captured by a band of slime demons and held for ransom. He's got no place messing with Spike's girl again after that Twilight mess from Season 8!) I've always thought that they would make an extremely interesting team.
