We know that Buffy is full of unexpected deaths. But was there ever a time when you really thought that someone would die, but they ended up miraculously surviving?
For example, I totally thought that Jenny would die in 'The Dark Age'.

I really thought Caleb was about to kill Xander in "Dirty Girls"... My heart lept into my throat the moment he grabbed him.

HisMrs gotta go with Caleb and Xander. Even though I was happy he survived, I cannot watch that scene without cringing. And that scream..........*shudders*

For a second, I actually thought Buffy had killed Faith in "Graduation Day". I was like, no way, they can't have her kill a human being........no.......they just can't.....

Also, I was a little worried when the Bringer swung the axe at Giles' head in "Sleeper". Even while the back of my mind was saying, "they can't kill Giles, they can't kill Giles", my heart still skipped a beat at that horrible image.

yes on Giles, I thought he was dead was just waiting for the confirmation.
The scene in Season 3 where Cordelia falls on the iron bar, and the next scene goes to a funeral, where Buffy and Willow are talking about how she's gonna be fine.

The first few moments of that scene, I was in shock.

For some reason, I thought that Kennedy died in 'Chosen'. When I started to read the comics (which I've now decided to avoid like the plague) I got so confused when Kennedy was mentioned.

Maybe that was your mind playing tricks on you. Maybe you wished she died. Hahahaha. 😉

Well I never really thought about whether I liked her or not. She was just....there. So maybe I subconsciously hated her ;)
I actually thought that Buffy was going to die in Chosen and I assumed that Cordy was killed in Lover's Walk, the funeral scene really got me. I remember yelping and saying, "No!! I know she doesn't die because she's going to be on Angel...but...but, oh you bastards."

I also thought that Giles was a gonner when he was impaled in...Spiral, I believe it was. Such a tense situation, it hadn't been spoiled for me at all. I also thought he was done for when they all thought that he was The First, but I had a pretty good feeling that the writers were just messing with us 😉

I had known that Anya was going to die at some point but didn't know when, and for some reason I got it in my head that it happened in Selfless. So I spent that entire episode all scared and waiting for her to die. When she walked away from Xander at the end and then the screen went black, I was still waiting, haha. After the credits ended, I was just relieved and confused...

I thought Giles was dead in Grave. I cried so much! I prefered that he didn't, but it would've been a great ending for him!

I entirely agree. I had a few heart stopping moments in Spiral where I thought that Giles was a goner. Things were not looking good at all. I still remember sitting on my living room floor watching it at 6am before school and my jaw was sitting on the floor also!

Haha I actually had tears in my eyes, I remember thinking, "Anyone but Giles!"
I thought that Andrew will die in the episode inwhich Buffy fears the crap out of him! He starts crying and that was what Buffy wanted, his tears. I didn't thought tht Buffy would kill him, it was just a voice singing in my head:" Ohoh he's not going out there healthy!". Oh and by the way afterwards the voice restarted singing the title-melody of tetris...😀

I thought cordy had died in lovers walk but they where tricking us. I also really thought melly was going to die on dollhouse man on the street, but nah ah! There are three flowers in a vase! 😀

I was thinking Cordelia in Lover's Walk - totallly thought she was dead, especially with the funeral scene.

But when it was revealed that she was not dead, then I thought that the funeral scene was one of the cheesiest misdirections Whedon ever used.

Haha it's funny you say that, because I thought it was the most brilliant misdirection ever. 😀
