Unfortunate off-screen drama good for Angel?

Originally they were going to have Doyle return a big bad, but due to Glenn's unfortunate death they laid that idea rest. I think this was a stupid idea in the first place. Doyle sacrificed his life to do what was right, and returning from the dead evil would have just cheapened that sacrifice as it would have also cheapened his friendships with Angel and Cordelia. I wish Glenn hadn't died, but I definitely wouldn't have appreciated this storyline had it happened.

Charisma's pregnancy is the only thing that saved her character. Sure, she was possessed by a higher power and violated in a horrific way, but her character was still intact. They originally going to have Cordelia be the big bad instead of Jasmine. Which is just so fracking stupid. Charisma's baby drama may have gotten her booted from the show, but at least her character wasn't butchered in the process. She even got to give Cordelia a great send-off in You're Welcome.

Both of these events are unfortunate, but I can't imagine the show had these plots occurred. What is it with Whedon that he wants all of Angel's friends to turn evil? Ironic, considering that in the comics he ditched all of Angel's friends and had him be the one to go evil.

I wish Glenn hadn't died and that Charisma hadn't been treated so unfairly, but I am glad that Joss wasn't ever able to destroy the Doyle/Angel/Cordelia friendship.
 
I can't agree with the Cordy thing...her getting possesed and evil and returning to normal again like Willow on Buffy s6 is better then her scene with Connor and giving birth to Jasmine and coma...that whole thing wasn't cool

I don't like the plot with Doyle. He left in a good way and he left loved. If he'd come back evil, I think it would have taken a lot away from the selfless way he died.

I didn't agree with how Cordy left. She was pregnant with too many demons! I loved You're Welcome though. Everyone got to see her again. But I feel like Cordy should have been there in the end, standing with Angel and company.
 
I think the Jasmine arc was going to happen regardless but it was just going to be her possessing Cordelia instead of having to give birth to herself idk its all very confusing and I dont think we'll ever really know what was supposed to happen. Either way I think season 4 and 5 were terrible.

No, I hear Cordy was going to be evil all on her own without being possessed. I'm so glad this didn't happen. It really would have destroyed her character.

Season 4 had its moments. Everything not Cordelia and Connor was really good. Wesley's arc especially.

Season 5 was pretty bad the first half of the season, but the season turned beyond amazing once Illyria turned up and Dark!Wes returned.
 
I'm blinded by fanboy-ism. I wanted Doyle to come back, and if he came back as a hero (pun intended!) that would have been an incredible moment
 
I really wish that Doyle had been able to come back somehow...not evil, and he and Cordy would be together...forever. Where did you read that he was supposed to come back as evil? I also wasn't crazy about the Jasmine arc, maybe I would have liked evil Cordy better.

Eh...I doubt it. I loved You're Welcome. I just wish that she hadn't been possessed and that Jasmine could have just appeared some how. Grr.
