I love The Last Jedi

The American remake of Breathless is more enjoyable than the original French film

Chocolate Ice Cream is overrated

You and I somewhat agree. To me, The Shining isn't a bad movie. But it is a bad adaptation. And when people try and take me to task for it, I point out that Stephen King disliked it as well.
Stephen King also said he liked the original Children of the Corn so not sure we can always trust his opinion on adaptations of his own work 😉

And I don't think a film is automatically a bad adaptation if it doesn't stick rigidly to the book. I would rather a director bring his own ideas than just copy the book page by page ala Zach Snyder with Watchmen which was a good film, but could have been a great film if ZS hadn't been so slavishly devoted to the source

I don’t think it’s so much a “bad” adaptation as an unfaithful one. Kubrick took the DNA of the story and threw his own tale on top of it, essentially. Not a bad thing at all IMHO.

I love The Last Jedi…

Absolutely agree with you. Favorite SW film since Empire.

Also agree with you here. Snyder definitely should have taken liberties. Watchmen “as is” is very hard to translate to film, and even though he tried with things like doing slo mo instead of the reversed panel layouts of issue…4 I think it was (?), it doesn’t really land all the time.

Credit where it’s due though, he did take liberties where they absolutely needed to be taken. The “space alien” at the end of the book would’ve been completely incoherent to most viewers, so I appreciate the change to Manhattan being the problem.

The Princess Bride is one of the most overrated movies I have ever seen. I genuinely don't get why people are so obsessed with it, or how it became the cult classic that it is.

Don't throw stones at me please.
It's okay, I've never seen it beyond a few clips!

What's that? Joan the Vampire Slayer says The Princess Bride is over rated. (Personally I didn't know the film was rated)
Was that film based on the fairy tale where she kissed a frog?

If so that comment of ' Don't throw stones at me please, ' tends to make a bit more sense.

My unpopular opinions may get me stoned, tar and feathered, or just permanently banned. 😂

So here’s one that I can actually post:
Wrestling is not fake.

*Ducking for fear of being plastered with rotten fruit*

I understand that the storylines and matches are scripted. But the athletics are very real. The things the athletes put their bodies through on a daily basis, the injuries sustained. Broken necks, ears torn off, knee replacements, etc. These athletes retire with broken bodies.
*Raises hand* Hi. My name is Vamp Tramp and I love wrestling. 😝

I've always agreed with that. To me the best way of thinking about it is: You're not watching a sport. You're watching highly trained and highly specialized stuntmen do a show.
Unpopular opinion:
The definition of "Humanity" (in terms of emotional state) typical of TV shows, movies, books, some philosophies etc. is bullshit
It is related only to positive emotions and sentiments like love, kindness etc when other negative emotions and sentiments like rage and hate (malice is also a human emotion) are also humans' emotions, but they aren't considered in this partial and not objective/realistic definition of "humanity".
"You have no humanity": What does this mean? That are you not "good", "loving" and "compassionate"? Ridiculous.
"Humanity" is not a term that must be used as a prerogative of only good emotions, sentiments and behaviors, but should be used also for bad emotions, sentiments and behaviors in the same way.

-Kindness and other positive emotions, behaviors etc. are present also in other animals, not only a prerogative of humans
-Greed, hate, prejudice, selfishness, hypocrisy etc. are also humans' emotions, sentiments and behaviors.

Merriam Webster Dictionary: "The meaning of HUMANITY is compassionate, sympathetic, or generous behavior or disposition: the quality or state of being humane".
It is a bullshit definition made by humans to "overhype" themselves and represent their intrinsic nature as "noble". In reality, it is a wrong and anthropocentric definition that should be changed.

You are right but I think some people believe that animals can't really act in good or bad ways by our definitions. For example with cats, we see them play with and kill birds who are no threat to them but we don't consider cats evil for that we just say it's their nature. Likewise their good actions are not really good actions as we see them.

Yes, since animals' brains are less developed or "evolved" their emotions are less developed and manifested differently (in particular if we consider reptiles, birds or fishes etc. instead of mammals like humans). Also, they don't have a developed brain to theorize a morality or ethics like humans.
So, even if animals actions aren't considered evil (or good) in relation to humans' definitions, the problem is: why the definition of "humanity" doesn't include bad/evil or negative emotions and sentiments, when these are also humans emotions (and we know that)?

Pro-wrestling was once promoted as a fair and honest sport, and it's worked nature was considered an guarded trade secret. You could bet on it, and results were published in the newspapers. It was still presented that way until the late 90s, although wrestling promotions tend to vary on which parts of kayfabe are protected.

It's also worth noting, the type of training you have to do for a worked match is very different than what you have to do for a competitive match. Shawn Michaels is one of the best pro wrestlers of his generation, but couldn't win a shoot fight to save his life, and he's a pretty big guy.

Important to note that Vince McMahon admitted they were fake to avoid paying certain taxes, and also to avoid athletic commission oversight in many states.

Now THAT makes sense. (As for the injuries, stuntmen and even actors get those all the time, so that wasn't as convincing to me.)
I've always considered professional wrestling to be actual wrestling, that WWE type stuff is theatrical and not actual wrestling. How does using chairs to hit people be allowed in actual wrestling?
But there are millions of followers so they must be right, right!

I would like to declare how wonderful I think the medical profession is getting in Australia. When nurses who want a wage rise are told to return to work or else is an indication what the government thinks of them.
And the general practice doctors are even worse now and getting worse, my local doctors surgery is closing ( the only one in Toodyay ). I joined another one in the nearest town to here (30 K's away) I worked it out how long it will take me to see a doctor, 3 weeks.

The Australian Medical Association are really good.

Nurses are underpaid and overworked in the US, too.
Amateur Wrestling is usually the genuine sport, practiced at the academic and Olympic level. Pro-wrestling is is the fake stuff. (Open hand slap, got it.) No term exists to describe competitive amateur Wrestling that is done for pay, although, such a thing may happen in mixed martial arts. The ironic thing is, historically, most pro wrestlers had a amateur background, until Lawler and Hogan showed you could make a lot of money without mat skills.

Pro wrestling comes from catch wrestling, which is an actual competitive sport and legitimate martial art. The reason they started fixing the outcomes is because high level catch wrestling matches could go on for hours at a time and nobody would pay to see that.

Pro wrestling as we know it comes from travelling carnivals and circuses. They would put on catch wrestling matches as one part of their shows and then, as I said, they eventually started fixing the outcomes to make it more spectator-friendly.

Yep the doc in this town only comes once a month and he's closing up too. Going for the $500,000 a year job in the Pilbara. He might only last a year up there, but a year is all he needs to be set for life. Actually no, his *quality of life* costs way more than most. $500,000 will just be a drop in the ocean for his bank balance. I think its cruel to send loaded doctors to places so improvised. There wouldn't be as much sickness up north if the money was spent on the communities and access to safe water and food rather than the doctors to treat the alcoholism and other symptoms of poverty.

On a lighter note - Robert Pattinson is such a fun actor. He really knows how to ham it up on screen!
