Ok so,I love these types of threads. Anything goes as long as its well, unpopular. This isnt the time to say"man season six of Buffy was dreadful",we're talking things that generally people would consider unpopular. I'll start.

I dont like Tara. I mean I dont hate her or anything. But really I cant think of many notable things she ever did. I like Amber Benson, but to me she just seemed like a lifeless character. I thought her death was rather well handled but,not really because i cared about Tara. I thought it just added devolpment to Willow and Warren, and the way in which she died was pretty genius.(Geez that sounded morbid)

I prefered the high school years. Yeah,I liked Spikes progression. I liked season 6. I love anya. But, honestly to me as great as the gift and chosen were it felt like the show ended when oz says we survived high school.

I liked season 4 of Angel the best out of all of the Angel seasons.

Wesley>Giles

I like once more than feeling and all,but It's not my favorite Buffy episode eeeeever like it seems to be most peoples. Its not even my favorite episode of season 6.

Same with hush, good episode, but I dont think its literally the second coming of Christ.

Im usually on board for the whedonverse deaths but I didnt like killing off Jonathan. I thought it was needless. just shock for the sake of shock.

I would watch an entire show devouted to Illyria and cowboy guy Riley from restless interacting.

Karma for this awesome thread. :)

Dude, my favorites are BS6 and AS4 too!
I love Season 6. Probably my favorite season.

I wasn't as freaked out about the Connor and Cordelia thing as most of the fandom seemed to be. Yeah, it's weird, but it's not disgusting or anything -- I was just like, "Huh. Okay."

I really disliked Xander at first, as well as the majority of the Buffy cast with the exception of Giles.

True, season six was the bomb.
I didn't really like Tara either until she and Buffy got closer. I felt she was pretty dull too. I didn't really get into her character until shortly before she died, so it's kinda sad.

I DEFINITELY prefer the high school years. I miss the library sooo much. lol & I do agree, the show changed ALOT of high school, but that's genius on Joss' part because obviously once you start college everything changes. Still though, I do prefer the HS years too.

I also agree with Once More, With Feeling. It's a REALLY good episode, but definitely definitely definitely not my favorite. I think my favorite Season 6 episode is Grave. Again, I agree about Hush, as well.

BIG agreement about Jonathan. He was there from the beginning which I think is kinda cool. Until the end of season 7 I wished they had've kept Jonathan and killed off Andrew, but I ended up liking him. lol Still though, they should've kept both.

Now for my own rants 😀

I really REALLY dislike Riley. He was annoying, quite frankly the whole Initiave thing bothered me. When Riley went all blood-sucking addict that was it for me. I wanted him to GO. lol If he had've stayed I don't know how I would've been able to deal. He definitely wigged me out after that.

I wish they hadn't have killed off Principal Flutie. The first time around watching BtVS I thought Synder was the most annoying person ever, but after watching it a second time, he's pretty funny somtimes. Still though I really liked Flutie.

& while we're on the topic of killing people off, I hate that they killed Anya. It was sad. Also Tara -- sad too. Although I did love Dark Willow.

It would've been nice to see Xander or Buffy go bad too, although the whole Bad Slayer thing was done with Faith. Still though, it would've been cool to have Buffy a Big Bad, especially since the show is all about her.

I do NOT like Dawn. At all. Not in Season 5, 6, 7, not at all. People say she matured but I just don't see it. She annoyed me to no end and as horrible as it is, I was hoping she died in The Gift. lol

I like that Spike developed so much through out the course of the show, but I really enjoyed Big Bad Spike. What's worse is that I think I prefer the Spike we saw in Lover's Walk over Big Bad Spike, Chipped Spike, and Souled Spike. lol He was so pathetic and whiny and funny and somehow I just loved it. 😀

The Ferg
The Ferg
My favorite is chipped Spike too. :)
While I don't dislike her I wasn't bothered in the slightest when Tara died.

From season 4 on I hate Willow with an intense and fiery passion.

I like Spike alot, he's great comic relief, but I think he was castrated as a character in season 4 and stopped being interesting and instead became pathetic. Also, he looks ridiculous.

I don't think I ever thought Anya and Xander worked, ever.

I think Fresley was forced and weak and destroyed Gunn's character.

The Ferg
The Ferg
I love Fresley, but I would agree that it did destroy Gunn's character.
I love season 2. I love their High School years. I love Bangel. I love Woz. I love Cordy's lines. I like Anya. I like Spike as a big bad. I love Spike with Dru. I don't like Spuffy. I don't like Willow being gay. I don't hate Tara, I just like Oz more. I miss Angel and Cordy in Buffy.

E
Emzzie
lmao, you are supposed to pick stuff that lots of people DON'T like, that you do. EVERYBODY LOVES ANYA!! :p :p
Cordy is crap. Hot. But crap.
Dark willow/Illyria is a sad, sad excuse for a character.
I liked the Initiative.
The Body is boring and overrated.
Fred and Wesley together was so forced, so thats hated too.
Bye.

---------- Post added at 01:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:20 PM ----------

I just had to add this. Firefly ain't all that good and i'm not surprised nothing more came of it. Every single season of Buffy and Angel>>>>>>>>>>firefly. Average at best.

Well done on the Cordy being crap. She was Grade 'A' in the department of crap. But I don't understand about people thinking she's hot. I never found her attractive in the least.
I think Tabula Rasa is way too overrated. The best thing about it was Randy/Rupert/Enya. Everything else? Not so funny or original.

I love S6. I love the Real Life is the big bad. I love how it focused on the flaws of Buffy, Xander and Willow.

I love S8. I love that it moves the characters forward to new places instead of being stuck in Chosen forever (like most post-Chosen fics are)

I find Xander/Cordelia more fun and interesting than Xander/Anya.

I love Riley.

I love Dawn.

I don't care much about Tara, but I don't hate her. Same goes for Faith.

cute banner!
Andrew is the BOMB! I love Andrew! He always makes me laugh and I look forward to when he comes on screen. I hate Bangel with a passion. Cordy and Angel should be together, not them. Buffy pisses me off alot because I dont agree with some of the choices she makes. I think Giles is pretty sexy. Graduation pt 2. is my all time favorite episode because I love the epicness and the blowing up of the high school (my dream 😛) I'm ok that Anya died even though I love her. I dont think there was a place for her in season 8.

Heck yeah, Andrew is amazing.

Totally agree about Anya. It struck a nerve when she died, but I got over it quickly
I way, way prefer season 5, 6 and 7 of Buffy to 1-4. They're better; the characters are more interesting, as are the storylines.

I love Cordy but Cordy/Xander sucked. Seriously. It was just so clichéd, the popular girl and the geeky guy; and to be honest, totally boring. The only thing their relationship did was make Cordy less shallow, but I think that character development could still have occured if she'd continued hanging out with the Scoobies, anyway.

I don't hate season four. Adam and the whole Iniatiative storyline? A little bit, but season four itself doesn't suck. It is some really great episodes; Restless, Hush...Oh, and I love Where The Wild Things Are. Everyone always complains about that episode, but I find it really interesting.

Hm...Let's think of more. Oh, Dawn rocks. Seriously. Everyone says she whines too much and is annoying, etc, yeah, you try having an older sister who's a slayer. It must be hard on her, considering Joyce would always be worried about Buffy, and Dawn would feel left out; and Buffy has a strong group of friends, and Dawn has no-one.

That's about it. Oh, and Anya, Tara and Faith are the best characters within the 'verse. No question about it. Stop with all the Tara hate, it burns my eyeballs. D:

YES! Season 4 is totally absolutely fantasticly bloody amazing.

Yay for Dawn-defense!
I liked Cordy better before she went to Angel. She was funnier and depthy-er.

I thought Anya's death worked well. It showed the true nature of war.

Throughout the series, Buffy never lost my respect.

My feelings for Riley changed over time. I liked him at first. And then I didn't.

I think Buffy's hair is best curly as in Season 4.

I think Xander from The Pack was kind of sexy!

I really liked season 4 of Angel.

I don't get the obsession people have with Willow. I like her, but not that much.

I liked Cordelia less and less the more grown up she got.

Angelus is a sexy beast.

E
Eleftheria
of course Angelus is sexy! <3
Unpopular Opinions:

I don’t think Tara’s death counts as a “saddest scene” as most people seem to think. I think the death of the person herself is heartbreaking, but the scene? It’s played as shocking, not sad.

I think Wesley could kick Giles’ ass if it came down to it.

I don’t ship Wesley/Lilah or Wesley/Fred, and I believe Angel was the most important person in Wesley’s life (I mean in a platonic way, though I do ship the characters) regardless of who he was in love with.

Connor/Possessed!Cordy no longer grosses me out. The key word is: “possessed.”

I think Cordy on Buffy was a pretty shallow character compared to the others. She had so much more depth on Angel.

I love Wesley's
second ending so much more than his first.

UO/Rant:

I love Dawn and I don’t understand why people think she’s whiny. It’s not that I forgive her for being whiny – it’s that I don’t think she is in the first place. She’s a normal teen who has gone through a lot of crap. The fact that she’s as well adjusted as she is in season 8 (and even then it’s still obvious she has issues) is a testament to her strength. I think it’s hypocritical to forgive the other characters for much worse crimes and hate Dawn for her attitude or stealing.

I think
Xander/Dawn
had tons of setup. I thought from the first arc that they were either going to go with
X/D
or X/B. I was absolutely shocked to discover that some people thought it came out of the blue.

I believe they killed Wesley just for the sake of having a shocking/sad death in NFA.

Confessions:

I don’t ship Bangel. I think they’ve both moved on and it should stay that way. I believe they’re perfectly capable of loving other people just as much as they loved each other. But I’ve seen season two at least 11 times (in the last 2 years) and I cry every single time I watch The Prom.

I ship Cangel like crazy. But I sometimes think I love the early seasons’ friendship even more because while romances are common in fiction, to find a beautiful deep friendship that actually gets attention is quite difficult.

Yay, "D/X had setup" karma! :D

with most of what you said
Connor is my favorite character in the entire verse. Xander comes in a close second, and right now, Lindsey's taking up third.

I watched BtVS for the first season and a half purely for my Xander-fix. I didn't actually like the show until 'Innocence'.

Season 4 is probably my favorite BtVS season, even though I don't like Riley.

I don't like Anya/Xander and I still think, to this day, that Cordelia should have stayed in Sunnydale, or Xander should have followed her to LA.

I HATE the fact that they killed off ALL the major female characters in Angel. Cordelia, Fred, Darla, Lilah. There was really no need.

I don't ship Wesley with anyone. He was better off alone.

Fred/Gunn is still my ultimate Angel ship.

I LOVED Gwen.

I was annoyed when I found out they were going to resurrect Spike on Angel. I thought his death was a perfect end for the character.

I don't like Giles. Seriously.

Wesley's death is the saddest moment in the entire verse for me. "Would you like me to lie to you now?" is the saddest line ever spoken.

I HATED Lindsey's death. It was pointless, stupid, and undermined everything the character stood for. Plus, LORNE? REALLY?

Glory is my favorite Big Bad.

'Normal Again' is my favorite BtVS episode, 'Origins' is my favorite Angel episode.

I HATE 'The Body' cannot stand it.

Season 5 of BtVS is my least favorite season.

I liked Dawn from her first appearance.

I prefer Fred to Illyria.

I could take or leave Oz. He doesn't really register on my radar. I tend to forget about him a lot of them time.

Same goes for Anya.

I think Faith is better suited on Angel than BtVS and I think she should have stayed there.

I didn't like Jenny Calander, and her death didn't really bother me.

I'll be back with more later, probably, lol.

wait, loving Gwen counts as unpopular? mkay, that's one more item on MY list then, too :D

Serious Connor karma!
I think Firefly's better than Buffy. Only marginally, but yeah, better.

I don't like Xander that much. Or Giles, though I do love his sarcasm.

I watched the show for Spike. Which may not be an unpopular opinion, but I mean, I really watched the show for Spike. Most fans seem to think it's a sin or something, not to love Buffy for Buffy and Scoobies. Similarly, I've seen S5 of Angel a lot more than the others because of Spike.

I hated Fred's death, but I loved Illyria.

I... can't think of anymore right now. Will be back!

I love the idea for this thread.

My one all-time favorite complaint I'm always afraid to say: I think over the course of the series Buffy because a giant giant B-word. Every man shes ever had a serious relationship has been a whining sack of crap while dating her and always becomes an infinitely better person after they leave her (see: Spike, Angel, Riley).

BtvS S7 was at times nearly unwatchable with the way they ignored Wil, Xan and Giles in favor of Buffy, Spike and the Newb slayers.

I think Angel, Cordy and Wesley have the three most interesting character arcs in the whole 'verse.

I have serious trouble reading anything post-ATF because Angel without Wesley is no Angel at all.

To be honest I ship Cangel but so many times on the boards I see myself jumping onto the Bangel side of things just because people are so damn mean to Angel it annoys me.

I think the only reason Fresley killed the Gunn character was because they never gave Gunn enough depth to begin with, probably because the all-white writing staff had trouble writing 'ghetto' stories and giving him more depth.

I think Angel/Spike in AtS S5 is the best relationship of the entire 'verse.

I think Angel tended to get better with every season and Buffy tended to get worse, although BtvS S5 was really really good.

I also think Wesley would kick Giles ass and am sad that Giles never got to meet grown up Wesley, that would have been an excellent episode.

I thought Willow got really boring after Tara died/S6, they didn't know what to do with her.

I really like Illyria the character and thought she was an excellent addition.

I am really sad that Wesley died, I know they wouldnt have killed him if a new Angel season had been coming.

OK then....

I wish Giles could have met the grown up Wesley too :(

on every Wesley point so much.

On the Gunn point, my problem is that why should his story automatically by 'ghetto'?

Giles is old though. Take s1 or 2 giles and he'd have beat wes down ;) i love wes though.
I like conor ok? look i get hes whiney but thats what i liked about him. He wasnt supposed to be entirely likable. Hes a psychopath ticking time bomb. i thought they did that perfectly.

I love buffy but I miss angel more than buffy.

I love cordelia but I dont think Angel season 5 suffered without her presense.

Im of two minds about faiths redemption. I like the idea of characters redeeming themselves but I thought the arc of the bad slayer was better.

Ok one thats going to get me killed,That scene in chosen where buffy empowers every young girl in the world just came off way cheesy. Im all for girl power and all that but jesus it just felt like something in a touched by an angel episode. really maudlin.

I thought weirdly enough,Illyria and wesley had more chemistry than fred and wesley.

Another one that might result in me getting killed,Gay willow kinda felt like shock for the sake of shock. I dont get why anybody would be angry about it but it made no sense to me.

Honestly,I think if it wasnt for me finding spike funny I wouldnt of watched season 5 or 7 all the way through.

Connor karma
I like Connor, he's a good, interesting character and one of my favourites. I just think the writers didn't give him enough to do.

I wasn't squicked by Connor/Cordelia since it wasn't Cordelia. Had it really been Cordelia, then, yes, but like that, it worked.

I love S6, I like the addiction storyline, I really liked everything about it.

I like S7 aswell and I liked the Potentials.

S1 of Buffy is probably the worst season. S4 isn't as bad as it's made out to be. The overall Initiative plot yes, but it has some of the best episodes of the whole series.

I also really liked After The Fall and still like S8 and all of the additions to the story. People should stop complaining how it's not like the show anymore. Guess what? Once you change the world, it's all different. So of course it's not like the show.

Also, the Buffy/Angel vs. Buffy/Spike shipper debate bores me to tears.

And: Andrew is awesome. 😛

Lyri

Lol, more Connor karma
A
Amanda108
Someone else who gets that it “wasn’t Cordelia”? Awesome!
Thought of some more, comics-related:

I think the saddest thing in the entire Jossverse is
Connor's death
. Whether or not you like the character, watching Angel
hold his dead son
beats anything on the actual shows.

Vampire!Gunn is as good a villain as, maybe even a better one than, Angelus. Though, I've seen very mixed opinions about this one so I'm not sure if it counts as unpopular.

Angel and Gunn now have one of the most interesting relationships in the Jossverse thanks to ATF.

Gunn and Illyria are now two of the most interesting characters.

I adored Connor/Gwen. I haven't seen anyone say they dislike them, but I haven't seen any support either.

The Ferg
The Ferg
I know this is late but I completely agree about your second point. That was terribly sad.
Dawn could have dissolved into a green glittery cloud at the end of Season 5, and I wouldn't have minded a bit. (Then we could switch the characters in a couple of scenes. Giles could see Buffy coming down the stairs, and Spike could have returned to Sunnydale when he found out that Buffy had returned. Then he could have given Buffy some of the treasure from the Ring of Amara chamber to help with her expenses. I think that those changes would have been quite interesting.)

Riley could have been stationed in Outer Mongolia instead of Sunnydale for all I care. He was just too cutsie and boyishly charming for my taste, especially if he was supposed to be some sort of battle hardened combat veteran demon hunter. That part should have been played by someone 10 years older and a good bit more serious. Or maybe that should be more PROFESSIONAL than serious.

Gunn on Angel should have had his role expanded or just relegated to an occasional guest shot. As he said in Season 5, he was nothing but muscle, and as such, he wasn't that necessary on a permanent basis.

Wash's character on Firefly was just plain wrong. Jayne was better for comedy, and the doctor was more than enough non combat personnel to have on board. The pilot of "Serenity' should have been, like Cloe, another Browncoat, since it would be most logical for Mal to man his ship with people who could handle themselves in a firefight.

But.... but.... but Wash is AWESOME! Karma for Jayne, though.
