I hate Buffy season 1. In fact, I can't even watch it anymore. It's SO dated and the show hadn't found it's footing yet, so it's just incredibly awkward to watch.

I like Buffy season 6 and season 5 is my favorite.

The first half of Buffy season 7 was great and Selfless and Conversations With Dead People are two of my favorite episodes ever. Then the Potentials came in and I actually had to force myself to watch the rest of the season.

I don't like Chosen. It's cheesy, heavy-handed, and anticlimactic and Anya and Spike's deaths was poorly handled and completely unnecessary. Not Fade Away, on the other hand, is one of my top 3 Angel episodes and I LOVED how it ended.

I kind of liked Riley. I'm not his biggest fan or anything like that, but at the same time, I really don't understand the seething hatred that a lot of fans seem to have for him. Oh, and to make this opinion even more unpopular, I liked Riley in season 5 a lot more than I did in season 4. In season 4, he didn't really have a personality aside from "military guy," but in season 5, whining aside, he was actually kind of witty and charming at times. Plus, Marc Blucas looked delicious once he lost the greasy season 4 mop hair.

I like Cordelia well enough, but Charisma Carpenter's acting makes me cringe.

I love Angel/Cordelia and Angel/Darla. Angel/Buffy is a snoozefest.

Even though my favorite of Buffy's relationships was with Spike, I don't like her all that much with anyone.

Buffy is my least favorite of the Scoobies. Actually, I like her a little more than Dawn in seasons 5 and 6, but in season 7, when Dawn got better and Buffy got worse, Buffy took her place as the character who annoyed me the most.

I like Tabula Rasa and it has some funny bits, but overall, it's completely overrated.

Restless is easily my favorite Buffy episode.

I like Firefly more than Angel and just as much as Buffy.

Angel is a boring character and David Boreanaz is a mediocre actor who is constantly overshadowed by the likes of Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof.

Andrew is awesome.

Buffy season 8 (aside from the first maybe ten or eleven issues, which were okay) and After the Fall are CRAP.

Ok so,I love these types of threads. Anything goes as long as its well,unpopular. This isnt the time to say"man season six of Buffy was dreadful",we're talking things that generally people would consider unpopular. I'll start.

I dont like Tara. I mean I dont hate her or anything. But really I cant think of many notable things she ever did. I like Amber Benson,but to me she just seemed like a lifeless character. I thought her death was rather well handled but,not really because i cared about Tara. I thought it just added devolpment to Willow and Warren,and the way in which she died was pretty genius.(Geez that sounded morbid)

I prefered the high school years. Yeah,I liked Spikes progression. I liked season 6. I love anya. But, honestly to me as great as the gift and chosen were it felt like the show ended when oz says we survived high school.

I liked season 4 of Angel the best out of all of the Angel seasons.

I like once more than feeling and all,but It's not my favorite Buffy episode eeeeever like it seems to be most peoples. Its not even my favorite episode of season 6.

Same with hush, good episode, but I dont think its literally the second coming of Christ.

Im usually on board for the whedonverse deaths but I didnt like killing off Jonathan. I thought it was needless. just shock for the sake of shock.

I would watch an entire show devouted to Illyria and cowboy guy Riley from restless interacting.

This is so weird! I agree with a lot of what you've said here! My 'favorites' tend to be unconventional.

I do like Tara. I was sad when she died. But I agree she was never the most exciting character.

I do like Seasons 1-3, they're classic Buffy. But I love the whole show, and Season 6 is my favorite.

I'm going to have to disagree with what you say about Angel Season 4. The whole Connelia thing is hard for me to deal with. The Beast was kins of cheesy.

I did love that Faith and Willow came back, and I loved the whole storyline with Jasmine.

I agree about OMWF and Hush. Perhaps they're over rated. Neither is my favorite of their respective seasons, although both are excellent episodes.

Jonathan's death was pointless, I'll agree. Yet so was Tara's and Fred's.

Restless is just brilliant. It's definitely in my top five best BtVS episodes.

Illyria? I think she was a little over-the-top. I like her inner struggle with herself and Fred, and she has great chemistry with Spike (but who doesn't). Other then that, she was sort of silly.

I add my comment to the mix, I have to go with Willow. I'm pretty much indifferent to her character. I know she's a fan favorite, but I've never really been able to relate to her or get invested in her.

I love Wesley, but I don't think he is the greatest character in the history of television, as I've seen a lot of Angel fans insist.

Angel bored my pants off in the first three seasons of Buffy (except Angelus--he was AWESOME in season 2), but I grew to love him on his own series.

"Chosen" made me so angry the first time I watched... I hated the ambiguousness of Spike's response to Buffy, his subsequent death, and the complete lack of reaction to it on the part of the Scoobies.

The only thing that got me through the Jasmine crap in Angel Season 4 was knowing that Spike was coming in Season 5.

I actually like Gunn. I thought he added an interesting dynamic to the show, although I understand people's reasons for criticizing how he was used. And I thought Gunn/Fred was cute.

I loved Connor's character... until the whole Cordelia thing. That was weird.

Willow isn't even in my top ten favorite characters. I love her, but she just doesn't stand out to me, I guess.

When I first started watching Buffy, I didn't like it that much, except for Xander. I thought the other characters were totally boring and their worship of Buffy was annoying. I didn't get hooked on the show til Season 2.
I hate Willow after Season 4. She just changed way too much for me. All of her cute quirks were gone and I really began to hate her after Dark Willow showed up. It seemed to me just a ploy to let her say mean, uncharacteristic things to the rest of the characters.
I always thought Giles was hot. Even though the whole Connelia thing grossed me out, I always thought it would have been kinda sexy if Giles had found a younger woman to have a relationship with.
Speaking of Connelia, I think the reason it bothered me so much was not so much that there was a big age difference, but because I hated Connor after he came back from the hell dimension. But also because I kinda saw Cordelia as his Mommy-role person after Darla died.
I loved Cordelia and Angel together, and was so sad that Joss totally screwed up Cordelia's role in the show in S4.
I absolutely hated most of Season 4 of Angel.
I am so totally attracted to Faith. Even when she was a rogue slayer and tried to hurt Willow, I still loved her.
I still really think that even though I love Buffy and Angel together, Buffy belongs with Xander if anyone. He's human, they have a long history, and he knows her better than she knows herself. Also, they could have an actual life together, by getting married, having kids, growing old together, etc.
Even though I really like the character of Spike, I was angry over the screentime he and Andrew got in S7 in comparison to Dawn, Giles, and Xander.
I was heartbroken that Anya got killed and was really pissed at Joss over it.
Speaking of Joss? I think he's somewhat overrated. Yes, he's a great writer and visionary, but it bothers me when people literally talk/act like he's the Second Coming.
I like Gunn, but I always wished they would have brought in another love interest for him and put Fresley together from the start. The way they rushed it in S5 of Angel feels off to me.
I loved the scene where Gunn and Gwen hooked it up. Even though he was cheating on Fred, I thought Gunn and Gwen together were hot. 🙂
I thought the scene in "Graduation" was hilarious between Cordelia and Wesley when The Kiss didn't go the way they thought, but I always kinda wished they had gotten a second try on "Angel".
I loved Principal Flutie and was sad when he got killed off. 🙁
I also loved Principal Wood and didn't get the hate towards him... I also thought his vendetta against Spike was perfectly understandable.
I sometimes hate Buffy. Her "I'm better than everyone" attitude gets on my nerves a lot.
Oh, and I absolutely HATE Drusilla and think Juliet Landau is fugly.

I really really REALLY like Season 1 of Buffy. My favorite episode of S1 is the Pilot. I have no idea why, but after watching the entire series it's so awesome to go back and see it from the beginning again. The episodes weren't amazing, but it was the first season. Still though, I really really like it.

I think Buffy looked better with her short hair, like in Seasons 2 and 3. I also liked her hair in Season 6 when she chopped it off.

Giles totally wigged me out when ever he got angry. Two scenes that come to mind is in Halloween when he is beating up Ethan and in Revelations when he tells Buffy she has no respect for him.

I'm watching Season 3 of Buffy and it kinda makes me sad to know Wesley completely changed later on. He was soooo funny and the scene in Doppelgangland where he screams like a girl has me rolling laughing each time.

I prefer geeky, quirky Willow. The magic addiction thing made her annoying to me.

I agree Tara was boring, but somehow I was still so sad by her death.

I wish Oz didn't leave. I know Seth Green had other projects and I know Joss wanted to make someone gay 😛 lol But I love Oz 😀 He and Willow together eare easily my second favorite 'ship. It's almost a tie between Willow/Oz and Bangel 😛

The only time I've ever disliked Buffy was when she was being a bitca to her friends or Angel. Otherwise, I've pretty much sided with her in whatever she did.

I didn't like the whole Potentials thing, I felt like it made season 7 too chaotic and all over the place.

Obviously there's things I don't like about the shows, yet whenever I'm watching them over I don't skip one single episode 😀

- I didn't care about Buffy's character the first times I watched BtVS.
- I used to like Spuffy more than Bangel.
- The only dead scene I cried was Buffy's in The Gift.
- I like Hush more than Once More With Feeling.
- I think Fuffy in season 7 is hotter than in season 3 even they didn't do anything much.
- I didn't care about Faith much till I watched her 6 awesome episodes in Ats. She became my favorite character.
- Willow used to be my favorite character.

BtVS season 1
- The Master's voice is too cheesy that I never watch the episodes that have him in when anyone are around.
- I think The Anointed One is cute. 😛

BtVS season 2
- I used to be scared the hell of Spike and Drusilla. I was so afraid that they will kill Buffy.
- I'm bored like hell when Angel and Buffy kiss so often in those few episodes before Surprise.

BtVS season 3
- I didn't noticed Fuffy subtext a bit the first time I watched it.
- I don't like Xillow. They're even worse in The Wish.

BtVS season 4
- I like season 4.
- I love Riley.
- I like Where the Wild Things Are.
- I thought The Cheeseman joke was lame. But he kinda grew on me.

BtVS season 5
- I love Dawn.
- Blood Ties and The Gift are my favorite episodes of season 5.
- I like Riley in season 5 more than in season 4.
- I almost fall sleep every time I watch The Weight of the World.
- I never liked Anya or Xanya till this season.

BtVS season 6
- I thought Andrew is straight and had a big crush on him.

BtVS season 7
- I like season 7.
- I don't hate the Potentials so much.
- Potential is my favorite episode of season 7.

Angel, in general
- I like Wesley in season 1-3 more than in season 4-5.

Angel season 1
- I like Kate and Gunn since the first episode they appeared.
- I don't like Doyle that much.
- I like Sanctuary more than Five By Five.
- I had a crush on Lee.

Angel season 2
- Are You Now, or Have You Ever Been? and The Trial are in my top 3 best Angel episodes.

Angel season 3
- It's my least favorite season of Angel.
- Lullaby, Birthday and Provider are my favorite episodes of season 3.
- I love that Groo is back. And he's so hot with short hair.
- Fred in season 3 is my favorite Fred.
- Frunn is so cute.

Angel season 4
- It used to be my favorite season of Angel. Now I like season 5 more.
- I'm not bored with Jasmine arc. I kinda like it.
- I used to hate Wesley after he became this broody. Now I understand completely what he had gone through and grew to love him. 🙂
- I love Gwen.

Angel season 5
- Fresley seems forced, but I like them more than I used to. But I still prefer Frunn.
- I cried for Number 5 and his brothers in The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco.
- I think Harm's Way is funnier than Smile Time.
- I like Eve.
- I love Illyria.
- I was sad when Fred died, but after that I shrugged it off because Amy(as Illyria) was still on the show. 😛
- I think Shells is better than A Hole in The World.
- I like Nangel very much.
- I love the way Not Fade Away ended.

Blind Date is the best Angel season one episode and among the ten greatest Whedonverse episodes. Yes. Ten greatest. (Of course, it's still not as great as The Trial and Reprise.)

I used to think Buffy was one of the corniest shows on television. Episodes like Smashed and Wrecked made me wonder why I ever liked it as a young kid. I still despise those episodes, and can't think of Dark Willow without thinking of that crap.

Smile Time, Harm's Way, Pangs, and Him are four of the worst Buffyverse episodes. Yes, I said it. There is more humor in your average Buffy/Angel episode than there is in any of those episodes.

I notice a few people have liking Gunn here, is he unpopular? Gunns a great character.
But i HATE with a passion Holden/Knox, horrible actor with stupid hair, annoying voice and just has one of those kickable faces.
I LOVE I robot, you jane, Bad eggs, Where the wild thing are and Cautionary tale numero cinco.
Wesley, although still good, was better as geeky Wes.

Okay, several other things, because I'm on a role.

Kennedy is cool. End of conversation. I used to hate her, but I don't actually get why people do anymore; she has an attitude, sure, but that's why she is cool.

I liked Riley until he went all annoying in season five and decided to let vampires feed on him. That's when he started suck (No pun intended...)

Amends is one of the dullest episodes of BtVS ever. I watch it at Christmas just because it's set as Christmas; but seriously, a whole 41 minutes of Bangel? I'll pass.

Anya's death was one of the most emotional moments in BtVS ever. Yeah, so it lasted all of like a second, but really; maybe that's why it's so heart breaking, because we don't really see what happened to her. She just...dies.

Expect more from me when I can think of more. This thread is awesome.

Season 3 is one of my least favourite Buffy seasons, I probably haven't even watched it all the way through since it first aired on TV. The reason I dislike it so much is because I just cannot stand Faith and everything she does annoys me and there is just wayyyy to much Faith for me in season 3.

Another few things from me...
I really hated the whole Potentials thing. I understood it, and it made for an awesome ending to "Chosen", but it made things crazy to have so many characters who needed development.
I hated Rhona with a passion. I wish she'd been killed instead of Amanda, Molly, or any of the others who died in the finale.
I was really upset that Giles never got to have a serious love interest in the show after Jenny was killed. It bothered me for some reason...
I hated Anya when she first started showing up in S4. I thought the lines they gave her were funny, but I wasn't crazy about Xanya at first. By the end of the show, though, I loved her and was heartbroken when she died.
I am still pissed that Seth Green never came back to the show. I loved Oz, and wished desperately that they would have given him a bigger role in the show before Seth Green got pissed that they weren't and left.
I was pissed off that Andrew killed Jonathan. I always had a soft spot for his character and I think this was one reason I never liked Andrew.
"Buffy" as a series is way better than "Angel" as a series. I feel like toward the end of "Angel", the writers got lazy and the show suffered.
I thought the end of "Angel" felt way too rushed. I was really confused why they chose to end the show the way they did. They should have started with the whole Circle of the Black Thorn stuff a LONG time ago. But then, overall, everything in Season 5 felt rushed to me. Nothing ever got the arc it deserved, in my opinion.

Apart from a few execellent episodes I hated season 5 of Angel. Mainly because,

-I genuinely missed The Hyperion and everything that went with it.

-Spike was unnecessary and I wish he hadn't been brought back.

-Cordy wasn't there.

I can't say I hate it, but I'm sorry that Eliza declined a Faith series with Spike and Wood, especially because Angel S5 was made under condition to bring Spike over.

I very much dislike the overuse of the word "champion" in Angel.

Maybe "The Body" is a great episode but I've only watched once.

I agree with some here that Connor was an immensely interesting character.

No relationship off of these two shows ever spoke to me. In fact, Angel/Cordelia became a bit too cheesy in the episode Tomorrow. (I finally understand the reason people "ship" though, now that I've seen Topher/Bennet.)

Season 1 - i hate hate it,(hates a strong word) well i really dislike it 😛 The Master is ohsosososo cheesy.(luckily i started watching from season 5)
WHY does every one love the highschool seasons ? seasons 4-7 are the best,
sorry Willow is wayway over-rated, i love her, and it wouldn't be the same without her, but she acts so fake and her stutters and sayings are so fake, especially before seasons 6+7.

I'm starting to Love Eliza more than smg these days, only because smg hasn't did anything in ages.

Dawn and connor are brats, they would make a wonderful couple.😛

Doyle++Darla were the best characters on Angel, i was gutted when joss killed them.

Angel sucked after Cordy left, the only thing that saved them was bringing spike back.

Fred is also way over-rated.

I really loved wesley and lilah together, although i would of preferred wesley and cordy as a couple anyday.

This thread reminds me of a "Molotov Cocktail Party;" my friends and I used to do this, it's like any other cocktail party but you have to bring an idea or philosophy that would raise hackles, and defend it throughout the night with no sense of irony. It doesn't have to be something you actually believe, it just has to be incendiary (hence the "Molotov" aspect) Random examples of what you might discuss: homeless people are lazy, slavery should be legal, men are inherently stupider than women, there should be an IQ test to vote, there should be no free education, etc. These used to be a lot of fun, like a Victorian salon without cravats.

I loved the potentials.
I liked season 6.
I really liked Kennedy!
Spike was awesome as a bad guy and crap when he switched sides.
Spike shouldn't have been brought into Angel season 5.
Spike shouldn't have gotten the amount of attention he did in season 7 / 5 of Angel.
Spuffy never should have happened.
I liked the Angel/Warewolf girl (can't remember her name) relationship.
I liked Eve (not sure if thats unpopular)
