Okay...
I prefer the later seasons of Buffy over the high-school years. I really do love season 4 too, even though it cops a lot of criticism, but six and seven are my favourites.
The potentials are annoying but necessary. I think they are annoying because they are all just charactertures rather than fully developed characters. Worst mistake ever was having Willow get involved with one of them.
I don't think that David Boreanaz is a very god actor (partiularly on Buffy) - he has his moments of course, but a lot of the time he is a bit wooden. Bones has done nothing to change that opinion.
I didn't watch Angel until Spike went over in Season five. Then I went back and watched the whole show and fell in love. Season five of Angel is my favourite Buffyverse season ever. Easily.
I've never watched Firefly - I have the dvds but have not watched it.
I liked geek Willow better than magical Willow but realise that this is her character progression - but I do think she got too powerful.
Loved Angel: After the Fall more than I'm loving Buffy season 8. Of course, ATF has the advantage of being a complete story, Buffy will probably rock when it's finished and all is revealed.
Spike is my favourite character. He is the reason I became devoted to the show.
Hated all the Baby connor storylines - loved it when he came back fully grown and deranged.
Love Faith in Angel; Can't stand her in Buffy for the most part, don't mind her in season seven. Jail obviously did her good.

Apart from a few execellent episodes I hated season 5 of Angel. Mainly because,

-I genuinely missed The Hyperion and everything that went with it.

-Spike was unnecessary and I wish he hadn't been brought back.

-Cordy wasn't there.

Believe it or not, I didn't approve of Spike being brought back, either. I felt it cheapened his self-sacrifice in 'Chosen.' Obviously, I love him however he is, but there would have been something really beautiful about his sacrifice if he had stayed dead.

But, like our Buffy, there was no way Joss was going to allow one of his most popular characters to stay dead. 🙂
Since, I've accepted why Spike is back, and I think in the end, he'll be the one left standing. He'll forge his own path ahead into the future.

I agree with a lot of what you've said here. Season 5 of Angel is my favorite Angel Season as well by a long short (2 is really good, too). It's massively entertaining. You can't beat the awesomeness of Smile Time and the absurdity of Spin the Bottle. Destiny is Epic and Why We Fight is one of the best eps in the series, IMO. Hellbound is in my Top Twenty Buffyverse Fav eps. Agree about Spike and about Baby Conner as well, but hate adult Conner. He's a selfish brat.

And...Season 6 is my favorite Buffy season, too!

I actually DON'T prefer the high school years on Buffy. I used to, but now I much prefer the show as it is in seasons 5, 6, and the beginning of season 7 (quality dropped big time when the potentials began arriving at the Summer's house).

A lot of people hate on Xander, and even more people seem to hate Andrew but they both crack me up.

Wes is the best character in either series. He was great when he was goofy and pathetic and he was great when he became a total badass. It's not that I think people don't like Wes.....they just don't like him enough!

I prefer Cordy the way she was on Buffy and the first couple seasons of Angel. While I understand characters need to grow, there are ways of having them grow that don't involve turning them into boring romantic props.

Buffy season two wasn't one of the best seasons, in spite of what people often say. It had a great arc for sure, but there are more outright bad episodes in it than season 3, 5, or 6 (and maybe 4).

Willow and Tara are both hugely overrated. I don't outright hate either one, but don't see why they seem to be among the most popular on the show. Tara is largely boring and Willow is downright unlikeable in a lot of the post high school episodes. The quirky, nerdy Willow was replaced by a Willow that wasn't better but sure thought she was.

Willow/Tara had about the same amount of chemistry as Willow/Kennedy.

In season seven, Andrew was the only character I could relate to in the slightest. Jonathan's death in that season was more emotional than any of the scenes with Spike.

In Lies My Parents Told Me, Spike was the bad guy, and he's a prick for not apologizing to Wood.

Beer Bad > Tabula Rasa in laughs.

Doublemeat Palace and Where the Wild Things Are are rather spooky eps. Doublemeat Palace was even pretty funny.

Oh, yeah!! Here are a couple more from me!
I love Dawn. When she first got there, I thought "How is this going to work?" but since I have a little sister, I understood Dawn from the get-go and loved her. I like her the most in S7 though, when she starts to become a little mini-Watcher. 🙂
I liked Tara, and I was shocked as hell by her death but I still say Oz is Willow's greatest love.
I hated Olivia. The actress who played her was bad, and her appearance on the show only annoyed me.
I loved Riley so much, and it broke my heart when he left.
I have a theory about Joss that he is an ass, and that he only keeps people in the show who kiss his ass offscreen.

I started Buffy with season 4 (weird one to start with). Watched 4 through 7 then 1 through 3. Always thought Angel and Buffy were ridiculous, that Spike is her true love.
Hated Anya at first. Love her now.
The more I watch the more Xander begins to annoy me.
Hated Cordelia until I watched Angel. Now I think she and Spike are the two greatest characters in the 'verse, because they change the most without any outside forces working on them.

I hate Joyce. "The Body" leaves me mostly cold as I can't relate to why they're all sad to see her gone.

I don't understand the Xanya relationship, at all. Glad they never got to actually marry.

"Amends" is one of the lamest episodes of Buffy, I always feel the urge to skip over it. My reaction to The First being the Big Bad in S7 was "What, they pick up something from that ep? Rrrrrright."

Connor/Cordy was surprising, but not gross.

The Fang Gang were the true Big Bad of AtS4. Those idiots stopped world peace, for crying out loud!!!

We saw way too little of Gwen Raiden, who was an absolutely fascinating character (not to mention a gorgeous woman).

AtS Season 4 was a way, way, WAY better season than S5. A lot of S5 would hardly have been watchable without Spike.

Neither Connor nor Dawn annoy me overly much.

Faith, while in no way ugly, does rate as mediocre against many other women in the 'verse on the hotness scale.

And, of course, the all time unpopular statement... I love Inca Mummy Girl. It's one of my favorite episodes. 🙂

For what it's worth, I enjoy that one. I started watching Buffy at season 2 and it took me a few episodes to get into it so I'd even go so far as to say it was the episode that began to make me into a fan.

I totally forgot my biggest one!

Some fans can’t forgive Wes for taking Connor. Most everybody agrees he deserved what he got afterward. I will never forgive Cordy, Fred, and Gunn for abandoning him. It literally makes me feel sick to watch.

Also, while I think the character of Wesley always has amazing depth, I feel that he had more of it on an episode-by-episode basis in the earlier seasons.

Hmm, most of the folks at Watchercast didn't like LTM, and I stupidly assumed that was the common opinion. As for Restless, it just isn't loved enough!

Hmm, I have quite a few unpopular opinions, I think.

Good stuff:
I liked Kennedy, and her relationship with Willow.
I loved Connor. Sure, he could be painfully dense at times, but I could only sympathise with him after the life he'd had, and I thought he was a lot of fun. I think he could have turned out well if not for Jasmine/Cordelia.
Also, Connor was hot. Not that that's why I liked him, but it's another opinion I haven't heard very often.
I liked most of the standalone episodes that a lot of people seem to consider mediocre or poor, especially in the early seasons (e.g. The Witch, Inca Mummy Girl, Ted, Gingerbread).
Dawn rarely annoyed me. In fact, I really liked her in S5 and I thought her relationship with Buffy was very sweet. In S6-7, not so much, but she still didn't really irritate me.
The first season of Buffy was good. It may have been campy, but the dialogue and characterisation that are the show's strengths were more or less there from the beginning. Of course, things only went upwards from there.
Warren Mears was a great villain, the best villain on Buffy since Faith. Adam Busch was responsible for this as much as the writing for the character.
Topher Brink was awesome. The best character on Dollhouse, and possibly one of the better characters in the Whedonverse.
Spin The Bottle was better than Tabula Rasa.

Bad stuff:
Fred and Wesley's relationship in S5 was forced, and Wesley's infatuation with her in general was often pretty creepy.
Fred was a fairly uninteresting character in general, and often too much of a Mary Sue. I much preferred Illyria.
You're Welcome is probably the most overrated episode in the Whedonverse.
Spike shouldn't have been brought back for Angel S5. In fact, I have mixed feelings about his arc for most of Buffy. I think the chip was a forced plot contrivance to keep him on the show - it didn't feel natural at all.
As the above points suggest, I didn't like Angel S5 much. I thought S4 was a lot better.
Dark Willow was a cheesy cardboard villain with embarassingly bad dialogue.
I disliked Cordelia's development in the latter half of Angel S3. She became a bland character defined by her love for Angel, with none of her old wit.
Glory was fairly uninteresting and not very well acted. I loved Buffy S5, but she was definitely not one of the reasons why.
The second season of Dollhouse wasn't really an improvement over the first (from Man On The Street onwards). Sure, there were more plot developments and interesting things happening, but it felt rushed and sloppy. And The Hollow Men was terrible.

I was and still am pissed with the direction the writers took Riley. I felt like he started off a kick-ass soldier and ended up a whiney suck-ass who clung to Buffy too much...
I often wished that instead of introducing so many random minor characters the show would have been much more interesting if we had occasionally seen these minor characters turn back up in different situations, like Percy did at the frat house in S4. For instance, I would have liked to seen what happened to Kyle from the hyena pack, or some of the other Cordettes besides Harmony.
I never liked Harmony that much. She was funny sometimes, but I didn't really like her character much at all.
I like BtVS way more than I like "Angel".

I have much more time for seasons 1-3 over the others, they'll always be what Buffy is about to me.

I loved Riley and I hate how he was treated and that he's always seen as the bad guy.

I really can't stand Spike from season five onwards and don't really care for his 'redemption' story. He should have stuck to eating people.

I really don't care very much for season six. Dark Willow and the whole plot with her is one of my least favourite things ever and it absolutely ruined the character of Willow for me.

I don't really see why it was so bad Xander left Anya at the altar. If he had doubts then he did the right thing by not going through with it. Xander and his feelings are often neglected in this scenario.

By season seven I find Buffy to be a very dislikeable person and I wish Faith had kicked her sorry bottom after she punched her outside the Bronze.

Doyle's death is the saddest death from either show. Yes, even sadder than Tara's. I love Doyle. Period.

I've always liked Spike, to a certain degree, however, lately I have started to see him as the most ridiculous and pathetic of characters. From the way he dresses to his false bravado, I can take none of it seriously anymore. If we never saw him again after Becoming, I really don't think I'd miss him.

One of the main reasons I dislike Connor is because the actor looks nothing like Angel or Darla. (Shallow, thy name is Kean)

The way Fred treated Gunn after he killed the professor caused me to really really dislike her.

Her death didn't move me in the slightest, nor did Tara's.

I love Riley's wit. He cracks me up.

As stated above, Doyle's death was the saddest I've seen. Granted, I'm not done with AtS yet, but I haven't cried as much as I did when he died in Angel or Buffy.

I hate the whole pregnancy/Connor s/l in Angel, I think it's stupid.

I liked the Pylea episodes.

I love that Cordy and Angel had such a wonderful friendship and it makes me kind of upset that they fell in love because their friendship was so beautiful. Same thing goes for

Season 6 was my favourite season.
Despite this Willow was a pretty terrible big bad, i preferred the trio.
Riley was cool at first, then just got steadily more gay, and ended up a clingy, whiny loser. At first though he was one baddass soulja boy.
The Pylea episodes were awesome.
Fred and Wesley felt forced, but not as much as Fred and Gunn. At least Fresley suited each other.
Doyles death was the saddest ever. Such a genuine bloke. When I hear that "is that it? Am I done?" i started welling up. Probably the saddest moment in the whole verse for me.
I didn't care when Joyce died, nor Tara.
Andrew was one of my favourite characters, would have liked to have seen more of him as a good guy.
I prefer the last three seasons to the first three, season four always felt like a bit awkward.
Seasons one and five were the best Angel seasons.

Having said all that, if I could change of the things above, I most definately would not.

I hated Riley. I liked to look at him cause he was HOT!!! But as for his personality and the things he did....I was bejond happy when he left...I was sad for buffy it hurt her but as was glad he was gone.

season 2 pulled away from the story arch to much to add it little points...take for instance killed by death....they pretty much just grasped at straws there...that close to the final battel and none of them are to worried about what Angel and his new evil gang is up to. It really anoyed me

I really dont think they need to kill Joyce! I think Joss did that just for the shock and upsetting factor. I think some things would have been better if they had not killed off Joyce..He just used that to throw extra problems at Buffy and it rather anoyed me.

I dont see why Jhonathan would have joined an evil gang...He really seamed to get what buffy said to him at the end of Supperstar...And I do agree that killing him was jst lame. He was there from the begining and he was the only totaly random charactor who had more then one appearance after highschool. The only tinny person from highschool i can even think of being in it afther bye bye school was Percy, the jock Will toutred
