Unproduced episode "Corrupt"

I recently found out about this episode that was written by David Fury & intended to be the 2nd episode of the season. It was not produced because the writers, producers, and network felt that it was "too dark". Ideas from it were used in other season 1 episodes.

So, what do you think about this? Do you think it would've changed the direction of season 1, Angel's character, Kate's character? Do you think it was indeed "too dark" when compared to some of the darker moments of the later seasons?

When did Angel get to be the DARK AVENGER? I see a lawsuit coming out of this.

And, now about this "almost episode," I remember reading an interview with Joss somewhere where he mentions "several" scripts that were either never used, or had to be modified so much during shooting or editing in order to conform to either his vision of what the series should be, the network's regulations, or both, that the end product was virtually unrecognizable from the original concept. I can't find the original source right now, but I'll keep looking.

Anyhow, this isn't that unusual a thing. Just about every series, if it lasts any amount of time, winds up with a file of scripts that just don't work within the guidelines set for the show. Sometimes they are sold to other producers, who modify them to work within their own story line, sometimes they go out with the evening trash, and sometimes they wind up being saved for one reason or another. Apparently, this one fell into the third category.
