So we find out after Fred turned into Illyria that Lorne was in love with the former.

Why didn't he ever tell her? Was he afraid that she's reject him because he was a demon?

I would think that after a couple of years working with Angel, working with demons, and knowing what a kind and gentle soul Lorne was, she wouldn't feel so badly about it!

Any input??

P.S. Ha, gotta love my play on words for the title. ^_^

:lmao:

I don't think he really loved her to be honest. I kind of think Lorne is gay. When he said he loved her I don't think he meant it romantically. I think it was more of a brother/sister thing with those two.

Agreed. I think Lorne was gay, too.

Um, I didn't think he was in love with her either.
I don't know about Lorne being gay,
but I do think that when he said he loved Fred,
he meant it totally in a non-romantic kind of way.

I don't think he was IN love with Fred, he just loved her in an absolutely un-romantically, family-y way.

Chiming in on the side of he didn’t mean "in love" (although I have to say I love that idea. They would have been so cute). I think she was his best friend, but that was it.

About Lorne’s sexuality: I don’t picture him as caring about things like gender, or even species. And he flirts and makes comments about all types. Of course, on the other hand, despite this we never see him having a romantic or sexual interest during the show which always struck me as weird – I know most fans don’t want to see him in any type of sexual situation, but they could have still given him an offscreen girlfriend or boyfriend. Maybe he’s just not interested in being in a relationship.

You have to remember that where he came from, humans were viewed as cattle. That in and of itself might serve to keep any thoughts of a romantic relationship with Fred, or any other human, male or female, from even occurring to him

And thank God he never told her that he loved her, because she might have answered, "No, you don't, but thanks for saying it," and we just don't need that kind of controversy on the Buffy Boards, it would keep the Fweses and the Frornes arguing constantly!

LOL nice.
I don't think that he meant in in that way. He just meant in a family way. Angel and crew were his family in a sense. Honestly, I've no clue about his sexuality. I think that if he were to become involved with someone, it would have to be a she-demon, just because I don't think he was attracted to humans.

Agreeing to everyone else, I believe Lorne is gay as well, and regardless, I don't think he's attracted to humans. Perhaps he had a lover back in Pylea. 😉

Lorne - like Spike, Wesley, Gunn, and Cordelia - loved Fred like family. There was no romance involved.

Lmao i don't think Lorne loved Fred in that way, that would be a little weird. 😛
I agree he loved her as family like everyone else.(except Gunn+Wes) ofc.

Lorne wasn't in love with Fred but did love her, I don't think he was gay though he mentions to Landoc that when they were training he was chatting up the senoiritas by the wash pool.

They left his sexuality ambiguous. Andy said "Lorne loves all people". Considering how masculine the females of species can look, all bets are off.

I like to think he was bisexuall(maybe even into non-gender species). But I only remember him making comments about wanting females. There was something about how he would get together with Cordelia if she "liked green"(I think he and Angel were talking about a possible relationship between Angel and Cordy in season 3) and in late season 2, he said something to his cousin about chatting up the ladies while his cousin was hunting.

Not sure if he ever seemed into guys, in any way. He did mention that Angel was love muffin, or something alike a few times(and he did mention Angelus leather pants in a appreciative way) but did he ever make it seem like he wanted guys?

Btw, I bet some species have very feminine guys and butch women. I wonder what how a straight human guy would react to that? hehe I think that would make a great Xander comic.

Sorry for the late reply here-I've just returned to the boards after a LONG absence,lol-I have to agree, I never thought that when Lorne said he loved Fred, that he meant it in a romantic way. There was no doubting that he did love her, when you consider how dark and depressed he became after her death, but I think his feelings were totally platonic. As far as his sexual orientation went, I don't think Lorne judged by species or gender-the way I looked at it, he could be attracted to anyone, male or female, human or demon. Which is why I was always disappointed that he never had a love interest. I think the green guy had a heart as big as a house, and would have had a LOT of love to give to the right person.

Lorne KARMA!
I don't even think I thought about it at all. I don't mean that in a I did not care way it is just to me there was never anything romantic. I like a lot of people thought Lorne was gay but then there were hints that he was not thrown around so it was confusing, I now come to the conclusion that Lorne is just Lorne.

LORNE was not gay people! There were no gay or bisexual men on Buffy, (Except possibly Andrew) I think that Lorne could have loved Fred, but it was left up to the viewer to decide on that. Although, if Fred and Lorne were together they would've made a cute couple IMO.

There was no definitive answer on Lorne's sexuality

Larry. Not a major character, sure, but definitely a gay man.

Lorne wasn't, though - we know he was attracted to females. He did seem quite flirty with Angel a lot of the time as well, which could suggest that he's bisexual, but he might not have really been that serious about it.
