I've been writing for years and despite writing a few crummy short BtVS fan fics years ago have never sat down and tried to work on a proper Buffy fan fic. So tonight, I gathered all my ideas and put fingers to keyboard and began work on a rough version of the start. Honestly, it probably sucks, not much is currently happening, but its a Tara/Willow story based on them in New York and I've got a few ideas up my sleeves of what they will come accross on their visit, hopefully including a few familiar faces from the past (and I don't mean Spike lol)

So please, do tell me what you think and whether I should continue, any feedback is as always, welcome 🙂

Previously on Buffy The Vampire Slayer…
Buffy is dead. Sacrificing herself to save her sister Dawn and the world, following Glory’s capture of “key” Dawn. Buffy has been buried and Willow and Tara move into the Summers household to take care of Dawn. Willow sets up Spike’s Buffy bot to fill in for the slayer, so Dawn’s school don’t know Buffy died from fear of her being put into care or sent to live with her father. Willow decides, after a lot of research, to bring Buffy back from the dead. The gang are hesitant but eventually agree with Willow, still nervous. Although the gang do bring Buffy back to life through dark witchcraft, she is left to dig out of her own coffin and grave. She is disoriented and confused, but Dawn soon takes care of her. Whilst Xander, Tara and Giles worry of Willows constant reliance on magic and whether she knew of the consequences, they must deal with one of those consequences – Buffy’s come back to life and brought a demon along with her! She later reveals to Spike of all people that she was not in a bad place. She was in Heaven, or what seemed like heaven and was torn out of there by her friends, from a place where she was happy.

Historians note: This story takes place during Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Sixth season

- CHAPTER ONE -

“See I told you we didn’t have to unpack straight away”
Willow faced Tara, her arm wrapped around her.
“You’re right. We don’t even need clothes” Tara said, a wicked grin painted on her face. She leant in and kissed Willow on the lips before whispering “I love you”. The redhead smiled. Every time those words passed Tara’s lips she couldn’t help but go all warm inside
“I love you too” she whispered before climbing out of the bed, that same smile still on her face.
Lying here now under the warm violet bedsheets in their hotel room, with her beautiful girlfriend, definitely made up for the journey there. Their flight had left at 3am and now five hours later they were settled into their new surroundings.
Tara watched as the sunlight painted sunny yellow streaks across Willow’s striking red hair, damn that girl was beautiful. “Are you okay?” Willow asked as she tiptoed towards the adjoining bathroom.
Tara glanced at the beautiful day outside, the sunlight that was leaking through their partly drawn blinds. “I couldn’t be better. I should get out of bed though, or I never will!”
Tara heard Willow’s muffled chuckle from in the bathroom and once again smiled. My how I love that woman, she said to herself, watching as Willow brushed her teeth while watching her reflection in the bathroom mirror.
“I still can’t believe we’re in New York!” Willow said as she appeared, fresh from the bathroom.
Tara rose from the bed and came towards Willow. She took her hands in her own and kissed her sweet lips again. “I know baby. I just felt we needed a break, a proper break, after bringing B-Buffy back. Give her time to settle back in more at home with Dawn, just them.”
Willow stroked Tara’s right cheek and looked into her beautiful blue eyes. “You’re right, you’re always right baby. I just…I just wish I could make everything better for them, like a spell or something”
Tara pulled away from the embrace and turned away from Willow so that she couldn’t see her reaction to that. Disgust, pain, worry.
She didn’t want Willow to see any of it in her eyes.
”I-It’s just going to take time Willow.” She stammered. “Buffy just needs the time to get adjusted. It must be hard being absent like that for so long and then being forced back into everything all over again. We’ve come here for a few days to give them space, maybe that will help.”
It had been just a few weeks since Willow, Xander, Tara and Anya had brought Buffy back from the dead in Sunnydale, but Willow knew that Buffy wasn’t totally herself. She figured she needed to restore the pieces of her life from before she had died. It had just been Buffy and younger sister Dawn living at home since their mothers death, and when Buffy passed away, Tara and Willow moved in to look after Dawn. Willow was also glad to be away from someone still in Sunnydale, Giles. After bringing Buffy back she had expected him to be grateful for what she had done. Instead he confronted her on how foolish she was, calling upon the dark forces like she did and Willow hadn’t taken well to his criticism like that. She had warned him not to “piss her off” as she was powerful as he had said. And she would show him, yes one day she would show the old man just how powerful she really was. Giles had not been the only one to speculate on Willows full understanding of what the resurrection spell entailed though. At first Dawn scolded her for bringing Buffy back, Xander was sceptical and confided in Tara and now Tara was becoming frustrated with Willow’s constant reliance on witchcraft. Tara knew they were supposed to use their power primarily to help people and to fight evil but Willow was now using it to tidy their bedroom and to bring people back from the dead. No matter who it was, Tara knew what Willow was doing was wrong, but what was she to do? Tara had just become closer to the group, having once been an outsider from the other members of the Scoobies and Willow was her everything. She didn’t want to risk losing her.

Willow had even suggested using a spell to arrive in New York. Tara had secretly hated the idea and was luckily saved by Anya when Willow suggested it.
”The thing is Will, don’t forget there are such things as alternate universes you know.” Anya had said at the idea. “Just because you say “I want to go to New York” in a spell doesn’t mean that like, poof and you do. It may not be your New York at all. It could be one where lets say, Zankas demons rule the world or one where witchcraft is illegal. Take a plane. It’s more patriotic too. Supporting the good old US of A!”
Yes, Anya sure could pick her words.

Tara pushed her golden hair behind her neck as she scanned the length of the room.
”Umm Willow, where’s our clothes?”
Willow giggled and wrapped her arms around Tara’s waist. “Ah, look up”
Tara glanced upwards at the ceiling to see their clothes laid out on the ceiling as if lying on the floor. “Isn’t it cool?” the redhead asked, the excitement in her voice showing her own amazement in the small spell. “I tell them and the clothes just fall onto us and poof we’re dressed!”
Tara felt dizzy suddenly. This kind of spellcasting had become way to common with Willow. She sat herself down on the bed and concentrated on looking at her feet so that Willow could not see the disappointment in her eyes.
Willow concentrated. She set her mind and holding her right hand upwards she chanted “Accido-Cidere-Cidi!.” She concentrated her eyes on the clothes and followed them as they slowly fell downwards, like feathers and fit themselves onto Tara and herself. A second later and they were both fully dressed. “Cool huh?” she beamed.
“It’s great” Tara said, still looking downwards. She concentrated and looked up at Willow with a slight, fake smile. She walked over, kissed her on the cheek and then walking into the bathroom murmured “I’ll just be a minute”, making sure to close the door behind her.
she rested backwards on the closed door and sighed. Oh Willow, she thought, when will you learn?

- CHAPTER TWO -

”I think my coffee’s cold” Willow groaned. She and Tara were strolling down a busy New York street not far from their hotel building.“Either that or I suddenly have no sense of heat”
Tara grinned and took Willows free hand in hers. “Me too”. She took Willows disposable coffee cup and threw it in a close trash bin along with her own. “It’s a really beautiful morning today, what do you feel like doing?”
“We could take a walk in the park?” Willow suggested. “Not that I know where the park is”
Tara looked around them. “I’m sure someone will know, I mean there are so…”
“Oh, look wow!” Willow cut Tara off. Tara looked to where Willow was shielding her eyes from the bright sunlight with one hand and pointing towards a store at another.
A magic shop.
Willow took Tara’s hand tightly again and pulled her towards the store.
Tara held back. “Are-are you sure you want to go in? I mean we spend so much of our time in the Magic Box at home.”
Willow looked around to see no one was looking at them. She didn’t care either way. She kissed Tara on the cheek. “Hey, we can see what its like and see how the Magic Box is so much better and when we go home tell Giles about the crappy magic store in New York”
Tara couldn’t resist grinning. “Okay” she said and let Willow pull her in as if an excited child. As they made their way through the door, a bell alarm rang, similar to the Magic Box but inside was completely different to Giles’s shop. The store had to be twice the size of The Magic Box and yet there was so much to see. There were signs up pointing towards what could be found down certain aisles as if a supermarket. Willow glanced around the store, taking a deep breath as she saw four or five people browsing the shelves. Tara looked on in awe. It certainly wasn’t as homely as The Magic Box but they seemed to have everything.
Willow slid down the marble stairs, Tara following and found her self not looking bur staring at people and their purchases. Not out of nosiness, but out of shock at how much better this store was compared to Giles’s. Not that she ever could say that to him. It would certainly piss him off. She thought she might like that actually.
A man in his late forties approached the girls. He had salt-peppery hair and wore a tweed suit, a welcoming smile on his face.
“Hello there, Welcome to The Cauldron. I’m the owner of the store, if you need anything in particular please do let me know.”
Willow grimed and looked towards Tara “They’re so nice here” she whispered.
Tara nodded and awkwardly smiled at the shop owner. She had a feeling Willow would be making purchases today. “Thank you so very much” she said to the owner. “We’ll let you know.” She gripped onto Willow’s hand tighter. “What do you feel like looking at?”
“I might look at the crystals” Willow told her. “I mean, don’t get me wrong. The Magic Box is great and all but this place is just, wow, its just so much better!”
She kissed Tara on the cheek and waved at her. “See you in a bit!”
Tara nodded and folded her arms. This place wasn’t going to help matters at all.

Willow browsed the endless shelves of crystals, amazed at their beauty and inner power. She had already seen countless items that Giles had always said were too difficult to get stock of. “Imagine if Giles saw this place” she whispered to herself. “He’d have a fit.” As she browsed the shelf something caught her eye. She held her hand out and picked up one of the purple and pink crystals that distracted her. It shone in the beautiful light of day that was shining into the store. She looked forward into the shelf to see the name of it. “Azure’s shell” she muttered, reading off the card.
“Great for locator spells” came a voice. Willow looked beside her to see the store owner there.
”Really?” her eyes lit up. “Sometimes, we have to do locator spells for Bu-…for friends to find…things…and, this is really good for it?”
He nodded his head. “It’s a very powerful crystal. Can’t you just feel the power as you hold it in your hand?”
Willow nodded. She held her palm out and let the crystal roll about in the centre, it glowed and the longer it sat in her palm, the warmer and more intense the feeling of power got. “I’ll take it”. She handed the crystal to him and he smiled. He took it towards the cash desk and she followed him. After ringing it up he took Willows payment, gave her her change, receipt and handed her the crystal in a bag. “Thanks” she smiled. “I’m Willow, by the way” she held out her hand and he gladly accepted it in a hand shake.
“Kenneth, the names Kenneth Chaston.”

OK, you've got me hooked. I want to know what happens next.
