Unused Ideas For Seasons

I think I heard something like that as well, it was supposed to show why men weren't able to carry the Slayer's powers, right? Maybe if it had gone ahead, we wouldn't have Billy, lol.

There was also the thing with Buffy/Xander in S7. Nick Brendon at the first Hallowhedon Con said that he and SMG were playing the beginning of the season as though they were going to get together and become a couple. I don't know if this was just something the two of them came up with, thinking it was a natural conclusion to their characters, or if it was an actual storyline that was dropped, but Nick did say he was disappointed that it never happened.

I remember that, I'm so glad that didn't happen, the story was about to be about how Xander gets corrupted by the power, which is just sexist!

Do you guys and gals think it at all possible that Season 1 had a lot of ideas that went unused due to the limited time-schedule of the season, and were later recycled in the seasons following it?

Definitely, Joss wanted to include Jesse in the opening credits of Welcome to the Hellmouth so his death would be extra shocking, but wasn't allowed to (I think on budget reasons), which he later used for Tara, I'm sure there are others

Well, that scene from the Prophecy Girl shooting script where Angel is referred to as human when he walks into the library, is often pulled out as an example of something was intended.

I remember reading that somewhere on here as well. That was kinda why he was able to get into the masoleum in "Harvest" with all the sun around and such.

I think a lot of the Season 2 early episodes have a Season 1 feel to them, kind of a 'monster of the week' with no real sub-plot (just substitite the Masters plotting for the Spike's) I mean 'Some Assembly Required', 'Reptile Boy', 'Inca Mummy Girl' have that 'school event/hi-jinks of the week that happens to involve a monster' - I wouldn't be surprised that they were ideas left over from Season 1.

That's why, except for a few exceptions ('School Hard', 'Lie To Me', 'Halloween') I don't really think Buffy is really great until the 'What's my Line' two-parter.

Also I love the rumour I heard that they were going to do the Oz/Veruca thing over the whole of Season 4. Yeah, we would've had more Veruca, but more Oz, too.🙂

Well, that scene from the Prophecy Girl shooting script where Angel is referred to as human when he walks into the library, is often pulled out as an example of something was intended.

That is actually meaning to say he is no longer vamp-faced:

"He turns to her, his face now vampiric."
Fight scenes, then ...
"Buffy enters slowly, Xander and a now-human Angel following."

There is no way to "show" that Angel is now a real boy to the audience by an action line in the script; it would have to be alluded to by a character for viewership to get that. Willow even cracks a vampire joke at his expense in the final line.

So that is all it is. 🙂

It does make sense. Surely the writers & Joss came up with more ideas than they could use for Season 1, so when Season 2 started, they had a surplus of ideas to use while they continued to come up with new ideas.

Yep, also heard that one. I think it might be for the best that that idea didn't really go into effect because if that had played out over the entirety of S4, we wouldn't have gotten Tara most likely.

Oh definitely, of that I have no doubt. That's obviously where Joss and the writers were headed, especially since I think Seth Green had had thoughts of leaving before the season had begun. I'm just happy that everything went as it did, because we got Tara earlier, and the amazing Amber Benson joined the cast 🙂

I don't like Oz as much as I do Tara, but I don't diss him or say that Willow didn't love him/wasn't happy with him, because that's not true. Willow was happy with both of them, and to me, that's all that matters in the long run 🙂 On the other hand, it's best not to get me started on Kennedy. But that's going a little off-topic, so back to the topic at hand.

Hearing that "Killed By Death" was quite possibly a Season 1 episode originally really makes me wonder if it could have fit with the other episodes if S1 had been longer.

In 'Restless' it was scripted that both Faith and Angel would appear, both of them in Buffy's dream. (Unfortunatly both were unavailable)
Faith would take Tara's role in the bedroom scenes- when Buffy says 'Faith and I just made this bed.' she would've actually been talking to her, and so forth.
Angel would've appeared in the desert scenes with the first slayer- speaking for her...which thinking about it would've been wierd.😕
I think, overall, this would've made Tara's character a lot less mysterious. And, given that she's just a normal girl with no dark secrets, I would've been cool with that.

I think 'Restless' would've worked as an unofficial 'crossover' episode. 🙂

I can see this, the anointed one was made out to be such a big deal, with great power etc., but that was never really delivered... but compared to Angelus, he would have failed as a big bad

Would have loved the anointed one to do a bit more before he got taken out tbh, not sure he would have made a good big bad though.
