Upgrade in Progress

Okay we are going to be running the board without the hacks for a couple days to see how the speed is, then we will be adding back the hacks trying to identify which ones make it slow. So please just do without the features for a little bit - no data was lost. All your points are still in there and everything like that.
 
It seems to be running faster for me, and I've been using my new dialup lately too!! I have to get out to Best Buy and get my damn router and stuff to hook up my Wifi
 
Hmm I've contemplated WiFi but I'd have to buy it and im moving out of my house soon.

Anyway thats not relevent, this is. It does load much faster. The forum itself loaded in 3 seconds! But when you start adding stuff, can you add the option to have the avatars on the side, rather then on top of posts please? I cant be dealing with the top mode. Unless im being dumb and cant find it.
 
The only thing I Really Really miss is the thing were you can chose which new posts you'd like to see... (And the menu where you can chose from all forums.)
 
As I said we're still working on things, so both of those will be back. No need to list what you miss until you see what's not there anymore 😉
 
Yeah, sorry about that.
One other question though. If I were to change my avatar right now, would I be able to know which ones are already used by someone..? Or could I accidently choose someone else's avatar..?
 
Thank goodness I always thought that one was silly. It would make since if people were uploading personal avatars into a avatar group and didn't want others to use it.

EDIT: Avatars in use by people don't show up at all when you go to choose an avatar.
 
I just wanted to say that I think it's great!

I've noticed that the boards are loading MUCH faster. For the past two weeks, I wasn't ever able to get on, because it was loading too slow, and eventually I would get an error.

So, whatever you did Buffy Summers.... keep up the good work!
 
Just to say, before the images for each season were back it took 3 seconds to load, now its taking 36 (Opera has a timer at the bottom, im not that sad and sit there with a stop watch). I know that the images were back yesterday so maybe whats slowing it down is another feature that was added today.

I clocked the page load time before and after I added the pics and it was negligeable. Somewhere around 0.25 seconds.

According to Cordelia, the boards were slow today so I believe it was just the server being slow and not the actual board loading time.

Being on a shared server, the board will experience slow times so you do need to kind of see how it is at more than one sitting 🙂

But this is why we are adding back hacks staggered, so we can identify these type of things.
 
Actually coming back on, it was quicker. Sorry for bothering you, will try it a few more times before I say anything next.
