US Elections

I can just never figure out how a Socialist millionaire has any feasible "plan" that can improve the lives of any Americans, everyday or otherwise. There's no free ride, and all that Bernie plans is to take money away from the people who worked all their lives to earn it in order to give it away to people who haven't earned it. Socialism works great as long as the money lasts, but, with fewer and fewer people actually working to support more and more who aren't, society simply won't survive. We've seen it too many times in too many countries throughout the world.

Only tax "the upper 1%?" You are talking about the single group of people in the country who are capable of removing all of their assets from American soil, shutting down all of their factories and businesses, and setting up shop somewhere else, leaving literally hundreds of thousands of those "everyday people" in debt and unemployed.

There is no "free" education, and there is no "free" medical plan. The bills all come due, and the number of people actually supporting the system gradually, but definitely, diminishes, just as soon as someone asks the question, "Why should I work for something if it's going to e provided for free? Let some other jerk do the work while I sit here and watch reruns of 'Bonanza'."

The great thing is, there's no way in hell that Bernie will win. Or Biden, for that matter. Super Tuesday was an exercise in futility. 😂

I strongly disagree with you on that one. How can you say it was an exercise in futility? Come on. It was a spoiler. At least now there will be no doubt and Trump getting re-elected is a lock. That's not futility, it's helpful.

Socialism has been ridiculously demonized; we already have it in the US! The EPA, IRS, NASA, USPS, Public Housing, Landfills, Libraries, Parks, Police, Military, Prisons, Street Lighting,Garbage Collection to name a few! How can you not figure out how HEALTHCARE and EDUCATION will improve the lives of all Americans? We end up way worse off overall having to pick up the slack from all the under or uninsured people. And as someone else stated, investing in our people with education will benefit the country as a whole in the long term.. isn't that rather obvious?? Should kids pay for K-12 education? That socialism of public school is soo evil isn't it? You say there is no free education and free medical plan?... Universal healthcare is something that is available in a vast number of countries across the globe. Yet you don't think the richest country in the world can do so? Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, and Sweden offer FREE college. I guess there is no such thing as a free education though in the U.S. If you can't afford to pay- you're screwed. Oh you work full time? Sorry, minimum wage has been stagnant for years so you'll still be poor AF even if you work your ass off. Guess you should go to college and get a better paying job huh? oh you can't afford college either.. So many "everyday" Americans have been convinced that this vicious cycle and their low standard of living is completely reasonable and it's not. Anyone that calls themselves "pro-life" should at least support universal healthcare. People can work their whole life and still go bankrupt from one medical emergency. You think they should've worked harder and saved more? I guess the hospitals and insurance companies have every right to gouge prices too right? Screw socialism, capitalism is the only thing that matters. Where's your humanity?

Education is something to be valued and its investing for the future. You can argue that it shouldn't be free (depends on the system they put in place to fund it I guess). It should certainly be a lot more affordable than it is, and with greater excess for people from poorer or minority backgrounds. Education is one thing which shouldn't be turned into a capitalist venture.
What is this commie socialist BS. We will have none of that kind of talk here in 'Murica!

What I meant was, none of the Democratic hopefuls have a chance against Trump...so trying to choose who'll run against him was a waste of time. I mean, they could've spent that day saving elephants or something! 😛

I'd like to point out that Biden made a visit to an elementary school one block away from me that Tuesday, and his supporters jammed our streets with their cars. There was no parking for residents until 10pm or so. We had to park several blocks away. 🤬

Certainly none of them now. Biden v Trump is laughable.

Not sure I agree with that. Trump is no more popular than when he first came into office. He's probably about the same give or take a small movement either way. I think Biden probably will lose as predicted. But if the Democrats went with one of the more progressive candidates I think they would have a better chance.

He's not popular with most Democrats. The vast majority of Republicans fully support him...yet they don't control the media, nor are they as vocal as their opponents. So the world pretty much gets a one-sided view of things.

I'm not saying that Trump is the golden child who will save us all. 😂 But he's definitely the lesser of two evils, just as he was in the last Presidential election.

So you are saying one of the candidates that not people did not want to vote for, and could not get enough support, in the primaries would suddenly have more support? That's generally not how it works. Look what happened to the vast majority of Sanders supporters the last go round; they didn't vote for Hilliary- they just didn't vote.

Wonderful in theory, but who do you see teaching all those free classes? Instructors, especially the more talented ones, in higher education, (I'm talking college level and above, which is what Bernie's plan will address) will go where they can get the best salary and working conditions. They are professionals, usually with families to support, so this is understandable.. That means colleges where the standards are high, and they can charge tuition accordingly. With a "free" college, you most often get little more than what you pay for.

If you get a choice it won't be between millionaire or not. Rather between millionaire with a conscience or not. That's the way the system is set up.

You get a choice between a millionaire who has delivered on just about every campaign promise he made, has the most healthy economy in my lifetime, and actually supports the Constitution and a millionaire whose major plans are impractical at best and impossible at worst who has already said that one of the first things that he will do once taking command is to "ban and CONFISCATE all the so called assault weapons. One of my major objections to this is that there is no mechanical function of an AR15 that isn't exactly the same as the 22 semiautomatic rifle that my father taught me to shoot with more than 60 years ago, not to mention every semiautomatic rifle and handgun in the United States. This isn't Australia. Our government can't commit any such act against honest citizens any more than they could ban any automobile capable of going more than 55 miles per hour on the excuse that citizens don't "need" to go any faster than that.

And before anyone accuses me of being a one trick pony, obsessed with the single issue of gun control, there are other issues that I have with any sort of socialist society, but I don't want to turn this post into a short novel by listing them.

When it gets to a vote anyone can win, I dare say that depending on how many Americans die from COVID-19 will make or break Trump chances, and that is if he lives through it.
There is talk about Trumps skin colour, it being Orange and look at the skin around his eyes.

white avenger,
any mention of the idiot car manufacturers that took so long to allow seat belts to be installed in their cars.

The Boss said two pages, what can I say to prove Buffy Summers right?

Hey, my first car was a 1960 PV544 Volvo, which didn't just have seat belts as a standard feature, it also had shoulder straps. They were there, available, way back then, and auto parts shops sold retrofit seat belts that would work on any car, regardless of year, make, or model. And you can't blame it all on the auto manusacturers, because it was literally a decade or more after they became a standard item on all automobiles before people actually started using them, actually using the argument that they had a better chance of surviving if they were "thrown clear" of the wreck.(in other words, thrown head first through the front windshield) than to be "trapped in a burning vehicle."

Obviously it's all hypothetical because the USA won't let other countries have a socialist government so there's a less than 0 chance of them having one. That being said if Sanders did get in I don't suppose he'd have any chance of tackling the gun issue. Too many people in a position to block any change. Also you can't shoot the weather.

And the comment by The Bronze of not shooting the weather, what of the cloud seeding programs that America has done. Though admittedly the worst cases by far (deaths caused) has been in Lympstone(?) England and at Chernobyle(?) towards Moscow Russia.
