Valentines Day

I've never really thought about Valentines Day, I usually forget about it actually. Seems quite pointless. I wouldn't actually know it was Valentines Day soon if it wasn't for the people complaining about hearing about it so much. 😛

Actually thought it was yesterday or something...

I couldn't care less with other words.

Nothing really planned here, I mean Jon nor I really have the money to go out or do anything. It'd be nice if we could have enough privacy to maybe have dinner alone together at home but I dont see that happening. He did however buy me a single wooden rose when he had a little bit of money and said that it was in case he didn't have the money to buy me any thing else which was sweet and i got him a card but thats about the it. lol

Well we don't really have anything planned. George is cooking a curry for tomorrow so I know what's for dinner lol. I've got him a card and thats about it lol. We tend to do more for Xmas and birthdays.

Welcome 2 merrick!
Don't belive in Valentines Day. If you love someone, you love that person all the time. All holidays became commercial, but Valentines Day - sudendly everyone love everyone, when it passes, it's like that love goes pufff.

I totally agree. I don't see why it should take one day for someone to show their love to someone, they should do it every day, all the time. 🙂

I always forget about Valentine's, but yeah, don't celebrate it, don't really care and mostly roll my eyes at all the candy hearts and what nots one sees at the store. If that's romance I'll have none of it 🙂

Yep i agree, Valentines day is so pointless. and yep i'm single and idk. 😛
I'll prolly spend it with my bestie (even though she has a bf) We'll go out shopping and she'll buy me a little rose cause she loves me. 🙂
Ahahahaha, my mum got a big bunch of expensive roses from a guy in her work, she's not interested in dating though. 😛
She's 45 and she's still one hot mama! Lmao, she's old and still getting gifts on valentines day. 😛

bet she'll LOVE being called old at 45! show her this post now, bet it'll make both your days! XD
I'm not quite single (😉), but the thought of VD always makes me check if I'm foaming at the mouth... I hate that pseudo-holiday with a passion. :cussing:

So, of course, I have nothing planned.

For me, Valentines Day is another one of those conventional "holidays" that just tries to convince people to buy more products. No one even really knows anymore the real history behind the holiday.

All it succeeds in doing is making us single people feel sad and making couples feel inadequate because their relationships aren't up to the level portrayed what love "should" be in the media.

Yes I know I'm weird"¦

Couldn't help but think of Christmas. A holiday that a lot of people don't celebrate for its origin, and it makes us spend more money than any other time of the year. And it's not like everyone is happy on Christmas. Lots of people get sad for different reasons, all somehow related to the holiday. Some of them being not living up to expectations or being alone. A lot of people also get physically hurt around this time.

Some people get fed up with all the Christmas hype and the same goes for Valentine's Day. Should we need a "holiday" to show how much we love each other? No but then we should totally scrap father's and mother's day as well to start with. Yes, yes I know. None of them reaches the "high" hype of Valentine's Day but I hope you see my point. Neither should we get caught up in the shopping madness that goes on for Christmas. In the busy lives we live a reminder sometimes doesn't hurt. Sad but true. I have no problem with people going all out if they want to. Or just celebrating in a small way. Personally I don't like the hype/pressure for Valentine's Day but that goes for birthdays, Christmas, New Years Eve and Midsummer (Swedish thing) too. Each to their own. But it shouldn't be a big deal of ignoring it all together either.

Maybe I'm not hating Valentine's Day because just as in the case of Halloween we (Sweden) just haven't gone as crazy about it as some other countries. But I guess we're doing the best to catch up so maybe I'll change my mind later in life. But for now I don't hate Valentine's Day, just what some people make of it. And as for getting sad for being single about it, personally I get more sad from seeing happy couples displaying their affection for each other in public no matter what day it is.

Totally ignore, though I don’t have a significant other so that makes it easy to do so. And it doesn’t make me depressed – it’s just another day for me. Unless I use it as an excuse to have a romance-gone-wrong themed Buffy marathon. Which I probably will.

My friend and I just changed our "not doing anything today, eff this" plans to "we're going to play Halo 3, eff this". Nice, eh? 😀
