Valentine's Day

Yea the first one wasn't actively bad, it was just bland. There was nothing "sexy" about it. I've heard just terrible reviews for the new one, and yes author E.L. James insisted on being the one to write it with her husband. And having a lot of creative influence, and it just didn't work. She's not J.K. Rowling! From what I've heard the books are also written terribly, it just had a concept that housewives and single people, in general wanted to read.

I heard somewhere that 50 shades started life as a Twilight fanfiction with just the names changed. Could explain the blandness.

Yep, that is true! That explains it. lol
Valentine's Day is my favourite holiday. I originally had something planned for my best friend (who I kinda fell for... Hard) But she met a girl a few days ago and is absolutely smitten by her, to the point where she's planned something for her already.

Please excuse me while I go pick up my bleeding heart off the floor...

Oh God, don't get me started on Fifty Shades. Urgh. But yes, it was a Twilight fan fiction. If you read the second one it's pretty much copy and paste from the third Twilight book. I really want a refund on the hours I spent trying to read that drivel to see what all the fuss was about.

Yeah I remember someone doing a talk about the whole Fifty Shades fanfic growth when I was at UNI. Another odd thing is that up till then I assumed it was a man writing the books. Something about those initials😉

@Fuffy Baith The other thing about Rowling is that she will at least let the cinema people get on with their jobs. James Foley whose directed this film is perfectly capable when given the chance.

So many of my friends were going on about how great it was. It's without a doubt the worse thing I've ever read.
Oh no, you read it? I'm so sorry. I knew some girls on my ship that were reading the first book, and talking about how "sexy" it was or "dirty". I all for that, but after seeing the first movie, and other people, whose opinions I value, I'm not planning on reading them ever. I'll spend less time watching the movies.

Yea exactly. Rowling, is smart and doesn't let her ego get in the way. At least not with the Harry Potter movies. I wasn't a big fan of Fantastic Beasts and I think she's had more involvement with that. I could be wrong, I don't know who's to blame for what I didn't like about that movie. Yea I looked up James Foley's filmography and he's done some good work. And to be fair, from the trailers the movie looks fine, the cinematography and shots looks good. It's the screenplay that was terrible, and Foley probably just took this as a quick paycheck.

Yeah I seriously think I got gayer.

How's everyone's Valentines going? What has been the sweetest thing anyone has done for you?

I got a rose once. Lol
Last year my friend Jess suggested we get together on Valentine's and do a horror movie binge. We camped out in the living room, ate takeout all day and watched It Follows, The Descent, and The Babadook.

It's fun. Normally I don't do well with horror but if I have a co-pilot and provided the violence never crosses the line into cruelty I do all right.

We're doing bloody Valentines again this year. No idea what the roster is but we may stream Cabin in the Woods at least on the other youtube channel.

That sounds like the best Valentines!

Jess is funny.
I've always found Valentine's Day to be sort of corny...even when I wasn't single.

My plans...make tacos, have a Farscape marathon, and eat ice cream directly from the container. Solitude is so underrated.

If you like GOOD Sci-Fi, you must see Farscape. It was filmed in Australia, in association with the Jim Henson Company. Great effects, writing, and acting. The lead character is portrayed by Ben Browder, but the rest of the cast is entirely Australian. Check it out...I LOVE Claudia Black!!!! Aeryn. <3

For me the sweetest thing I did was for my friends back in 2011. I worked at a supermarket and during my lunch break I bought my three closest friends a single rose and a small box of chocolates each (including my married friend. Her husband didn't get her anything haha!) I drove around to everyone's house and dropped it off at their doorsteps.

I had left my best friend's (at the time) house until last. She was home, which was weird because she should of been at work. She came outside noticing that I had pulled up and pretty much asked what I was doing. I joked saying that she had ruined the surprise and gave her the rose and chocolate. I was curious to why she was home. She invited me in and showed me that she was making us cake and was going to invite me over after work anyway, but was going to celebrate Valentines with me.
Three months later and that girl was my girlfriend.

Oh that's so sweet! I love it!
When I was single I organised what became know as the "Valentines Massacre". It was a pub crawl for us singletons. So much fun the couples in our group tagged along as well.

So far I watched the valentine's day episode from season two of Buffy today for valentine's day. I forgot that I like Cordelia and Xander together and I forgot that Angelus sends roses to Buffy with a note that says "Soon!" Pretty creepy. And I like when Spike gives Dru the necklace and says "Nothing but the best for my girl." Of course, Angelus comes in and ruins it but still a good scene made super creepy when Dru says "Angel always knows what speaks to a girl's heart."

Well my Valentine's Day ended with my best friend calling me up for two hours on the phone and her sending me a photo of her boobs (more like a heap of cleavage, just putting that out there) and just overall teasing the hell out of me because she knows I'm in love with her. Then she ranted on about how much she's smitten for this other girl she's met. So kinda a mixed feelings phonecall.

Apart from that, watched a decent amount of Buffy (season 7)
