So..... do you do anything? Do you have a significant other that you spoil in any way? Do you celebrate or do you do your upmost to ignore it for any reasons?


I'm single so I don't spoil a partner but I have always got Abbs something to say I love her and show her it doesn't have to be restricted to serious spending and serious relationships only! (just my opinion)... she gets a card, chocolate and a small cuddly toy! This year she has bought one of her besties a box of chocolates as they are in a pretend jokey relationship at school where they are pretend married lol bless em!!!

I've never gotten flowers or anything like that myself :'( (feel free to send baileys though.... flowers I like too but Baileys wind the day!) 🥰

Honestly, I've always ignored it. Except for the emphasis on CHOCOLATE, which I fully support. I don't need men or diamond jewelry. Just give me the candy. 😁

I totally agree. It’s super over commercialized. Listen, I’m all for taking a day to remind the special people in your life how special they are, but does it need to be this thing of expensive gifts??? A card. Just a piece of paper that expresses how genuinely one loves another.

Generally, Valentine’s Day doesn’t cause much fuss to us, because most of us are still single, and we just exchange little friendly valentines in the evening. I’m quite the artist, so I generally just do some nice artwork of everyone’s favorite character or celebrity. (Lots of members of BTS this year. )

Idk, but this is the first Valentine’s Day that I’m actually seeing all these couples and being like “Perhaps I should find myself a boyfriend”. Not that I need any gifts or anything special, it’s just a matter of “Gee, wouldn’t that be something”? 🤣

That being said, I do have to say, I love how so many people on here are saying “I don’t really care for a boyfriend/girlfriend, just give me chocolate”. That’s awesome. That’s another thing that peeves me about Valentine’s Day. It’s become it’s custom to shame all those without a significant other. Why??? I mean, what the heck? Not everyone wants a relationship, is ready for a relationship, or is called to have one. Just celebrate the people who make your life special! 🥰

I buy candy for myself and for my best friend. She gets better-quality candy than I do!

@Mehansa and I are doing galentines together 😄 to be honest I've never really felt particularly pressured or different on valentines day versus how I do any other day when it comes to being single or not. I go to restaurants and I have chocolate all the time so what am I really missing lol.

I've happily ignored this holiday my entire life until my current partner, other than as a day to avoid eating out and the like.

My current partner can get insecure. I get her presents, though I try to make it something I make because it feels weird just to throw money at a corporation to prove my feelings to a significant other, but to an extent I must. And if someone is going to make a SPECIAL show of affection, I'd rather it be done with one's own personal time and energy.

(By the way, I have a fake jewelry box to fool thieves, and one day I realized that the fake jewelry box actually has more valuable jewelry than my real one, which includes a necklace made with can tabs, but has great sentimental value to me. If I'd insured the fake jewelry box, they could replace it all, but because of the sentiment and memories they could never replace my real one, even if I got much more valuable jewelry in exchange, it would still be junk to me compared to the contents of what I'm so sentimental over.)

And it's weird having to act excited over anything I get...not too hard, but a bit disingeous, I can't help it that I feel nothing for the day, but the affection I express is real all the same, I just don't care about the day and would rather it didn't exist for everyone's sake. And it's not like we don't gift each other with things other days (holidays and otherwise) anyway, as I'd hope would be somewhat normal (within reason) for most people.

Happy Valentine's weekend everyone. I still haven't subjected anyone to being my life partner. So as always I tend to just watch film/tv Valentines themed stuff. Am planning on watching My Best Friend's Wedding tomorrow. I hear its a good one 😀

Other than card exchange, we have never bothered with commercial celebrations. We will probably go to a second life Valentine's dance, and hang out with friends online and listen to some good music.

And this morning i wished most of my favorite people Happy Friendship Day (which is also today). Happy Friendship Day all!

Sadly i don't drink or eat chocolate.
