Vamp Eating Habits

Is it ever explained why Spike eats solid food but Angel doesn't? I mean in IWRY Angel acts like he physically couldn't eat while he was a vamp, but in Fool For Love, Spike orders spicy buffalo wings and we all learn about his love for the blooming onion in S7 during his journey w/ Andrew...so what's the deal?

probably just personality quirks, though we have seen Angel ingest non-blood food. He drank beer in "She" and I'm sure we've seen him eat solid food at some point or another.

True, but he never seems to enjoy it until we see him human which is unlike what we see of spike.

I think they said something about vamp taste buds being unable to REALLY taste food...but I really don't know why it almost seems to be different for Spike.

Spike did enjoy buffalo wings, which would have garlic in them. Maybe garlic is the key component. It hurts vampires in great amounts, but in small enough units, it makes them feel something, which regular food can't

I thought the vampires couldn't eat food. (That what Angel said when he turned human in s1) and Angel and Spike said in Buffy S3
