Just sharing for those interested. About 45 minutes. Briefly summed up, it focuses on ancient Irish graves that they revisit through the documentary, and it appears that social forces of the time combined with natural phenomenon created the fear of the evil dead that then spread to Eastern Europe, particularly through the church, to create the more standard origins believed to be behind the vampire (but this says it actually originated in Ireland that caused the later events). Interesting enough, there's a bit of the same beliefs (some believe they're helping the undead find peace as much as protecting themselves) even in the 21st century, which creates a dilemma for law enforcement about desecrating corpses, and appears to be the long tradition dating back to medieval times.
The cultural transformation of the hideous undead into rebel aristocrats and such (and showing images of Buffy) is briefly explored somewhere in the latter half (I think before showing people in the 21st century still practicing the old rituals against vampires in the rural regions).
(Though that thumbnail is pure clickbait, I thought the documentary itself was fascinating.)
