Vampire Diaries vs True Blood

How long would say it took to get away from the high school crap?

I watched the first 2 episodes and thought it was an horrifically bad show, but over the last few years I've heard a lot of praise for it, was thinking of giving it another go, might be good to know how long till the high school element goes away?

I just could not stand that they were calling themselves an epic love halfway into the first episode.

Well I think by the time Season 2 starts, the high school crap takes a back seat to all the other stuff going on. The introduction of The Originals is where it starts to really get interesting!

The first few episodes seemed really lame to me, but once you get past them it turns into a really awesome show. I really love it. As the show progresses they don't really go to school so often and at the end of the latest season (4); high school is now over.
I'd recommend giving it another go 🙂
 
I used to like Vampire Diaries but I'm getting bored with the ever-depressing storylines that drag on and on. The fact that they keep bringing back characters that are supposed to be dead is also annoying. The love triangle dragged on for far too long and no doubt they'll drag it on some more in the future. The Originals are the only good thing about it right now.
 
So I gave Vampire Diaries another shot and made it past my last attempt (episode 2), very glad I did, it gets good past episode 5. The first few episodes were very bad, but it moves quick and actually gets quite compelling!
 
Keep going! I personally think it only gets better and better!! I have a friend that did the same thing. She only watched the first episode and then stopped. Our likes in TV and movies are so similar it's uncanny! I could not believe that she didnt like this show. So after 3 years of me bugging her to give it a chance, she finally did and got hooked! She was on like a 2 week long Netflix bender to get through the first 3 seasons. She is just now finishing up season 4. I knew she would come around!😀

Yeah I'm already half way through season 2.... Its really good. Totally hooked, wont be getting much else done till I'm caught up!
 
You guys weren't kidding about them never going to school, I thought Buffy was bad! I'm pretty sure episode 18 is the first time they go to class in season 2, and even then it's just because their setting up for something to go down at a dance later, lol.

Also does anyone else love Katherine. I love her, shes such a selfish bitch, it's awesome lol!

Are the books worth reading?

So been binging on this a lot, 4 episodes into season 4. Gotta say it's brilliant, Whats really cool is it has such a huge cast but their all really likable. True Blood has some really annoying characters, and although it is more grown up it still has a lot of goofy elements, like Andy, who is super annoying and basically a cartoon character.

The only character I didn't like was Caroline, but as soon as she was turned she became really interesting. Also The Originals storyline was really good, I love their bad-guy characters, loved Katherine and Rebekah is so awesome.
 
I totally agree with you about Caroline. She was kind of annoying before she became a vampire. Now I am really liking her character and I like what they are hinting at throughout the 4th season.

You know the Originals have their own show coming out right?

Yeah I'd heard about it before, but hadn't cared about it till now, lol.

Just watching the episode where humanityless Elena and Rebekah go to get Katherine - That should be the spin off, the 3 of them road tripping around the place!
