Vampire Stength

This is sort of a mini essay talking about the strengths of vampires.

Ok, so all vampires receive super strength when they rise, but why? Because when their sire puts some of their blood into them, giving them their power.

The Master was the first vampire, the first non-Turok Han vamp. All vamps on Earth are descended from him. But because they were once human, they can transform into a human face, while the Master and Turok-Hans can't.

Most of the vamps Buffy fights on the show are weak compared to her, and she slays them in a instant. But all the important vamps(Spike, Drusilla, Angel, Darla, ect.) seem much more powerful. But why?

Going back to The Master. Since he was the first vamp to start siring humans, and arguably the strongest, the humans he directly sired receive part of his strength. Darla was sired by The Master, Darla sired Angel, Angel sired Drusilla, and Dru sired Spike. My theory is that the closer bloodline you have to the Master, the stronger you are. Since possibley hundreds of generations of vampires have come since The Master, than each of them must be weaker.

If this is true, wouldn't it be possible that in a few hundred years, vampires will be very weak and pathetic? Though, my theory does have some plot holes, such as this would mean Darla is stronger than Angel and Spike, which is doubtful.

WTF? Who said that? Is that true? I never knew that! Can someone confirm?

Theory, the Turok-Han is the demon part in a vamp, when vamps get sired, the sire places a baby demon in the human, and then it grows quickly during the time after the siring and the rising! Which results in a vampire, half demon, half human!

Well...to begin I'm not sure I understand why this thread is in the Season 7 forum, but it is and it's interesting stuff so I'll respond.

Your "strongest is closest to the Master" hypothesis makes sense, but I'm not sure the Master's is the only line. I don't remember them ever saying that, and Dracula's line seems to have a slightly different power base than the Master's.

Buffy-vamps seem to get stronger the older they get. That's why they're easiest to snuff when she gets them fresh.

I think the reason for this has to do with the connection vampire's have to demon power. When they are reborn they are connected to this power. As they age they're connection seems to grow stronger.

hmmm... that's a nice thought about direct descendents from the Master line, but I don't know. Sometimes, Buff has fought some vamps that have gotten a piece of her, but there is no relevance made to where they came from... I think it just matters on the vamp and just how hungry they are.

Wrong the master was not the first vampire, he however was one of the few that managed to surpress(SP?) his human side and entirely embrace his vampiric sense.

I think they become stronger because the longer they live the more they embrace their vampiric side 🙂

Vampires become stronger as they age, that's why some like Kakistos are really hard to kill, and newly made vampires die really quick

And another thing, The Master is NOT the first vampire, he was the oldest vampire to be on record and he was like a 800 years old... if you remember the first episode, vampires have existed since the pure demon left this dimension and one bit a human... that surely wasn't around 1200

The "strength tied to lineage" thing was done in the Blade movie (don't know if it comes from the comic) and it was kind of interesting. It, along with many other facets of that movie, made it very much a racial issue, with the blood lines running thin to the point where some vampires couldn't even sire any other vampires because their blood was so thin. We do know, however, that some blood is more potent than other blood. Spike's is more potent than Jonathan's, Buffy's is more potent than a lot of people's, and Pig's blood is less potent than human's blood (from Angel). The strength of the vampire is also very much tied, in Buffy at least, to what and who they eat.

Just to clarify, I think the RPG game Vampire: The Masquerade created the strength tied to lineage thing, as it created the "embrace" term...
