Vampires and Doors........

This is not really a S4 thing........but I was unsure of where to ask so here I am.
What is the deal with Vampires and doors to houses/apartments?
I know that they have to be asked to come in and all but, Angel seems to be able to pretty much go where ever he pleases most of the time.
Me and my wife have been watching S1 on DVD and have noticed that he is just able to walk into someones house most of the time.........although the odd time he can't - like the first time he went to Cordy's trashy apartment or the time he tried to save Kate's father.
Other times he was just fine in walking in.........like in the first episode where he save Cordy from the rich vampire dude........or when he went to investigate the sensitivity trainer stick guy.......
What about when he's busting through a window to save Doyle's ex-wife from a demon?
Either I'm confused about the rules😱 or someone screwed up........a lot.😕

in the first episode where he save Cordy from the rich vampire dude... well he was dead so Angel could enter, i think thats the way it goes? (because what happend in 'Dear Boy'?)

or when he went to investigate the sensitivity trainer stick guy... i havent watched that ep that many times but im fairly sure the trainer was in a public building (for some reason i think it was a church?)

What about when he's busting through a window to save Doyle's ex-wife from a demon?... that was in a retaurant, which is a public building. so he could enter.

A vamp can enter a house-

-If it's deemed a public place

-if he have been invited before

-if the owner had died

-if the owner is another vamp, or demon

It should also be mentioned that it's not just doors. It also applies to windows, busting through walls and any other method of entering a place. Angel has, however, broken this law once to save Kate (to the surprise of both of them).

Also, a resident of the place must invite the vampire in. We've seen Gunn and Angel go to investigate the home of someone who was in the hospital. Gunn was unable to invite Angel in, so Angel stood there leaning against the 'mytical anti-vampre force field'... until the guy died and Angel fell right into the place.

yeah, but the Kate thing was part of his "we're not alone" epiphany, it was not a goof or anything

and the sensitivity teacher, i got the impression he could've been a demon

I think she simply died there, allowing Angel to come in. The shock of the cold shower water must have jerked her heart back into action in the same way a good defib should do 🙂

That's possible, but it would kind of destroy the purpose of the whole thing. After it was all over, Kate and Angel mentioned that he entered her aparment uninvited, pointing to it being either a miracle or that Angel was starting to perhaps 'spirtually outgrow his vampric nature'. If she just died and came back (or as I like to refer to it 'pulled a Buffy') than there is really no significance to it.
