Vampires, Drinking and Drugs....

This question has plagued me for a while. My boyfriend and I were watching "Damage" tonight, and we were discussing something that happened. In this episode, we see Dana inject Spike with a drug, and it affects him.

This confuses me! Spike's heart is not pumping blood, so blood is not travelling through his veins. Therefore, this drug should not have affected him, because it has not way to transport itself through his body.

This is also seen with watching an effect from drinking on the vamps. How is the alcohol moving through their system? How is it making them drunk?

So, is there an explanation for this, or is it just a flaw?

That's a good point, something I've been wondering about, too. I think that the writers don't really think about stuff like that, and they just assume that a vampire could be drugged without having blood flowing. Also, on the topic of blood flow, you'd think that male vampires couldn't have sex, if you know what I'm saying. But I think that the vampires are just supposed to seem a little human still. That's my guess, anyways.

And another thing

How do vampires get blood into their veins? The drink blood, shouldn't it go into their stomachs? Maybe whenyou change into a vampire, you're insides go all wonky. Hmm... *Goes to ponder and possibly brood over subject*

They seem to breathe at times too. and get all out of breath....some..uh..thingys with vamps say that they can...make themselves more alive? like breathing and all that stuff....

And some of the nutrients in your stomache get digested and pulled into your bloodstream....so...that can possibly splain that one, right?....
