Okay, this is a really weird question, and even by the thread name, you might be confused. But on the way to school the other day, my friend and I were talking about Buffy and I suddenly brought up the point about vampires hair.

Spike's hair manages to change a lot, including colour, as it's blonder sometimes, and Angel's hair was a lot longer in his Angelus days.

So, here is the weird question; How the heck do vampires maintain/cut/style their hair?

I mean, they can't exactly go into a hairdressers/barbers, because they wouldn't be open at night, and a little trip out in the daytime, wouldn't be a good idea. My friend said their might be some kind of demonic barbers, but I don't really get how that would work, either. And cutting their own hair..? Doubtful.

A very strange thing to ask, but anyone have any ideas on this?

Perhaps they have a home hairdresser pop around after dark at their home with the curtains closed if its a daytime visit 😉 hehe

Good theory. A haircut and a free meal. =P
They'd probably get other vamps to do it for them, maybe? I can see Spike looking after Dru's hair and make-up and stuff...

There could have been demon barbers (ha, and now I have an image of Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd doing Spike's hair for him XD) - we saw other instances of demon-centric places (bars, clubs etc.) so why not a demon hairdresser?

But in all honesty, we're probably not meant to think about it too much and just accept that they're able to do their hair and make-up without a mirror 😛

Hmm, I can imagine Spike doing that, would be rather strange, though.

Ohh, yes. Sweeney would be stumped that when he slit his throat he still lived XD 'And are you beautiful and pale and...What the heck, you're still alive?' XD

Oh my gosh, I never even thought about the no mirrors thing. 😛 Hmm, now I'm even more curious. 😛 If I ever meet Joss, Ima ask him. Or even if I met James. They'll be freaked out, but who cares. 😛

Who cuts it would depend on the vamp in question. Most probably style it themselves, but don't really know how it looks, remember when Angel finally sees his reflection in Pylea he was surprised that his hair was spiky. And their hair grows "super slow," Brian Lynch, Joss' #2 on Angel said that since vamps are mostly dead, their hair grows very slowly.

Simple, they all wear wigs. Spike's real hair probably fell out decades ago thanks to all the bleach

I love that theory. XD I can just imagine Spike with a biiig afro wig =P
well some hairdressers are always probs killed and vamped so they can become like nighthairdessers and
do it in the night or just go to the hairdressers underground or som, thing lol xx

Where is it that you live that they don't have any late night services?

In Canada (where I'm from) and here in Mexico, any town where there are more than 1000 people, late night services are available.

Perhaps they do as Dru and Darla did in Angel S2 (where they went "shopping" and killed the sales assistants) - they go to the hairdressers, flash some fang and force them to cut their hair.

But honestly, I'd think they get the other vamps in their family/nest to do it for them.

Conventional barber shops and hairdressers would probably be a bad idea, what with all those mirrors and stuff, but if someone like Willy or Lorne can have a bar or nightclub aimed primarily at the demon clientele, and Wolfram & Hart can offer them legal council, someone, either human or not, should be able to recognize the need for creatures of the night to stay all trimmed up and spiffy.

It counts in my book!
I kind of always thought that cause they were dead nothing would grow in their bodies, including hair, but at the same time they could regenerate from wounds. It's an odd thing. I bet there are demon/vampire barbers. You would probably pay them with blood or something like it. Vampires in general seem rather capitalist creatures to me.

Perhaps they just stand up and have perfect hair without have done anything^^
I mean, vampires are supposed to look really good, so why their hair shouldn't as well?
