Can a vampire go inside a room in a hotel even when uninvited? It happened in S3 when Angel went inside Faith's room uninvited.

What episode exactly are you referring to?
Otherwise, I don't know. Technically the one to invite a vampire in would have to be the owner. So hotel guests wouldn't even have the power to invite a vampire in.

I think Angel mentioned a couple of times that public accommodations such as hotel/motel rooms are exempt from the invitation-only rule.

Faith was living in a motel, so I guess vampires can go into a motel room uninvited. The hotel room rule is a bit tricky, since we've seen Angel go into hotel rooms, sometimes invited, sometimes not.

YEA! This may take some actual research. Because I could SWEAR there is a time in Angel that he CAN'T go in a motel room. Probably wrong, but still.

If you think about it, it SHOULD fall under the same rules as an apartment, right? I mean, you pay and you stay. So, as long as you've rented that space, it's yours to "live in". We know he can't go into apartments uninvited and a motel is no different than an apartment...other than a shorter lease.

Okay, so we all have to rewatch both series and take notes....let's meet back here in 3 days and discuss!

Found it:

At the Viking Motel Gunn walks into Darla's room. Angel is standing in the open doorway.
Gunn: "She ain't here, bro."
Angel: "No. But she was, not long ago. (Sniffs) Scent's still fresh. A lot of fear."
Gunn: "Don't envy you that particular talent. Not based on what I'm getting with just my standard issue human smeller. (Looks around the room. Behind him Angel enters) Man, not even for free cable, you know what I'm sayin'?"
Angel: "She chose this neighborhood for a reason."
Gunn looks from Angel to the door and back.
Gunn: "Bro, how'd you..?"
Angel: "Oh, Motel, public accommodation. She didn't live here."
