I noticed a new video game has been released called Vampyr.

It's a third-person action RPG set in 1918 London, during the Spanish Flu outbreak. You play a doctor who has recently been turned into a vampire.

The game seems pretty interesting. Your protagonist thirsts for blood (and you gain XP from drinking from victims), however as a doctor your first priority should surely be caring for your victims? You can choose to kill them, cure them and then kill them or never kill a single person (but your abilities suffer)

You have to maintain relationships with characters in the game, but choosing to kill someone changes the course of your game irrevocably. That person may have provided you with valuable knowledge or a side mission, had you kept them alive.

Choosing to turn too many people into vampires also has a dire effect on London, with vampires running amock and therefore more creatures trying to kill you. There's also a team of vampire hunters who are also on your tail. (Not sure if Buffy makes a cameo 😉)

Anyway, as a premise it seems really interesting. It's had mildly positive reviews, but I guess it asks some interesting questions about ethics and the consequences of your vampiric actions. I've only read reviews and see videos so far but I might have to take a break from GTA V to play this. 😀

I've seen it advertised a lot so they're trying! I hope it's not as dull as The Order. Tbh the only game I really wanted to see at E3 was Resi 2 remake, cos nostalgia. I fondly remember pretending I was 15 so I could buy it back in the day.

I've not seen it advertised at all! I guess I'm not looking in the right places. I've watched a few gameplay vids on YouTube, I have a feeling it could get very repetitive very quickly, and to be honest £40 is a lot of money for a game that's not GTA VI. Still tempted though.

I remember playing Resident Evil 2 on the PlayStation back when I worked in games retail and could borrow popular games for a week. It scared me so much I played it for like 15 minutes and never picked it up again. The remake is getting great press though, but apparently it's even scarier.... so that's a no from me. 😀

I've seen some YouTube ads and a big splash ad on the PlayStation, though that's the only place I see adverts on my TV so probably seems more than it is lol.

Resi 2 was the best of the PlayStation bunch! I've played through it maybe 15 times. Although I can't play it without thinking of Spaced, especially when the same dialogue pops up. 😂 Such cheesy acting!

Oh god I couldn't stand Life is Strange! It was like a Tumblr simulator. It's a good game if you can connect with the main character on an emotional level, but I could not. And the gameplay is very sparse. Like David Cage sparse.

Sure, you will need to fill the boots of a socially awkward, nerdy, hipster-teen. If you can do that, you will have fun, and you will cry.

Oh sure, I'm just not the audience for it. I get that. But I take issue with it being an interactive movie rather than a game. Probs good to get people into games though, those who are put off by all the tits and violence. I don't blame em.

Well, the women in the game are quite scrawny and gangly, so there is not much cheastage going on, but there is violence. You just don't act out that violence yourself. You may not have gotten that far, but the game takes a dark turn and ups the emotional drama by ... a lot.

No, I played the game, and I understood it. Maybe I'm jaded. I've played a lot of games in my time, and I expect more gameplay in my game, so I can play game.

I didn't mean to imply that you were unable to grasp it's hidden genius. The common criticisms against it, such as the lack of game play, are all valid. However, if you played through the entire thing, you must have liked it a little bit. It takes several hours to get through it all.
