will anyone see this? im going to-it will be cool to compare the way they handle the mythology of vamps on van helsing and buffy and because hugh jackman is really hot

Whoo-hoo! I am so going to see it this weekend! I cannot wait! I'm really excited because it looks like it is gonna be full of action, adventure and monsters! Yes!!! 🙂

Darn you BAS...I was gonna ask this question! This one looks good! And I'm really looking forward to "Troy", even though I'm not really a Brad Pitt fan. I'd like to see how they handle the story, and how close they stay to the original (they better stick pretty bloody close, as far as I'm concerned...). Same with Van Helsing...he made his first appearance in "Dracula", unless they make the hero his descendent or something...that would imply some form of sticking to the Dracula-style vamps...bats, wolves, smoke, etc. We'll see!

That is true, I hope that it sticks close to the original too but I think that if it does stray it will still be a hopping movie! I have a sneakin' suspicion that it is gonna be fantastic...I should go read up on it a little bit now...I haven't heard or seen anything other than a preview.

Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, Wolfman and Kate Beckinsale in tight fitting leather...again ( :: party : ). How bad can it be?

I can't really disagree, man. The only thing better than Kate Beckinsdale in tight leather is Kate Beckinsdale not in tight leather, if you get my drift... ::love::, but yeah, it looks like a winner, and Hugh Jackman seems to be able to pick some good roles!

LOL! Yes, Jack is winner for sure...except when he did that whole Kate and Leopold thing...I like silly fufu but that was just...boring and doofy...the idea was cool but not soley as a romantic comedy...anyway...I'm totally off subject! 😀

Back on topic...I have a confirmed date for Saturday with my gal-pal-movie-partner-in-crime to go see it. I haven't been this excited for a movie date at the theatre since, Down with Love!

I'm definitely seeing it this weekend. Hope it's not cheesy or anything. Kate needs to work on that accent! Hope it's good.

Internet response to the film has been extremley bad. I had high hopes for the picture but it looks like they messed up.

I saw it today! It was awsome I loved it so much, I had never seen movies with dracula, frankenstien and all of them before si it confussed me a little but it was awsome! I loved it! And Steven Summers did so well with it! (hes the director) I wanna see it again now!!

i went to see it today with alyson...and it was so kool, i was up there with Bram Strocker Dracula i loved it, it has become the best movie i 've seen all year...i want to see it again...i want the soundtract....it has just becone my favourtie movie of all time...I loved it so much.....and hugh jackman was great in it.....

Not very good. I saw it on Friday and there was a line and it was packed. Expect it to make a bundle. There really wasn't any story to speak of, Kate spoke in this god-awful accent very cheesy dialogue and Dracula's brides were ridiculous. However, there was a nice opening, some funny lines, great special effects and I liked the guy who played Dracula.
Grade: B-

The guy who played Dracula was amazing! His brides were irritating...but I think that was their job! I actually loved this movie...it used very traditional monsters in a most untraditional way. I enjoyed it thoroughly and would recommend it to those seeking a high action scare thrill! I jumped three or four times...no screaming just the startling! Did anybody else jump or am I the only scared cat here?! lol 🙂 There is this really visually stunning scene...with Hugh Jackman in a little loin cloth type thingy...really nice! 😀

I loved Dracula's Brides...They were great and made the film alot more exiting! xD

I'm glad the chose Hugh Jackman for the part of Van Helsing...he was amazing!

Chas, I jumped at the beginning when someone, I think it was Egor, popped onto the screen...lol....

I liked it. I didn't like a certain part of the ending, but you could see that that was going to happen. It was a bit like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but where I didn't really like that film, I really liked Van Helsing 🙂

that had to be the worst movie ive ever seen the writing was horrible and the brides were just stupid ugh everytime frankenstein said something i laughed it was just sooo horrible it was almost as bad as "the hulk"

I liked it. I jumped, but if I say when, I'll spoil people. The end upset me too. I hated Dracula and his brides, but other than that, I loved the movie. The story was very interesting and Hugh Jackman was awesome as Van Helsing. I think it's definitely a good movie to see.

Yea I jumped also! Once at the start and another time I dont remember, but both me, aly and ellen (Angelus87) jumped I remember.
I think in the end this is a very ewrapped up story, i wont say to much though. And at one point I thought i was rewatching 'beauty and the beast'!

I thought the same thing when I saw it. I absolutely LOVED it! I thought it was great! I loved Hugh Jackman. He was perfect for the role, tall, dark, mysterious, and very handsome. You can't go wrong with Hugh, kate and infamous horror film creatures. I loved the Bram Stoker Dracula:: vampire . The actor, Richard Roxburgh, was really great. He was perfect for the role. Of course Dracula's brides were really annoying, but I think that was their purpose in the movie. The special effects were great. I don't know why people hated it so much. From what I'm reading on the internet, people thought it was awful. I guess you have to be into the whole action packed vampire dramas.
