God I hate waiting. I want season 8 to finish already so everything can be explained. I'm dying here lol. I really hope that Giles doesnt die. My mom might ban Buffy from the house if he does lol 😛

I really hope Giles doesn't die. After all he's one of the core four, how will the series survive without him?
But I'm trying to remain positive. Hey, crazy thought here but what if Buffy and Spike are in an alternate world where Xander never revived Buffy with CPR? That would explain the Master, Sunnydale and the DarkGiles we're seeing on the cover, but how would that even make sense?

Giles killed Angel (crossbow and stakes) and Buffy. Alright alright i´m kidding or maybe not...
I´m still going with my theory that the only way to prevent the Apocalypse is to simply kill Angel and Buffy before Angel was approached from the powers that be and became a nutcase with superpowers. In that case the uber sexscene in space and the trip to bufels wonderland never happened and the world had still only 1 slayer. Faith! The balance were restored.
Sometimes it´s the best for all the person who died stays dead.

Buffy has out-grown him long ago, and as much as I love 'im - there's just nothing really left for his character to offer. Except maybe a spectacular death.
He's a 'bigger-picture' kind of man. In the past, he's was willing to sacrafice Dawn and Spike if it meant saving the world in the long run. And the grusome murder of Ben showed us just how far he was willing to go - he would do the unthinkable if the chips were down.
If Giles thought that killing Angel, or even Buffy, could prevent the end of the world then you can bet your ass he'd get his Ripper-funk on.

That's what I mean, should we deduce that Giles is the real big bad? Is he the closest, most unexpected betrayal?
I'm not convinced Giles would be the closest or the most unexpected betrayal to be honest. Not now. The only two I can think of that actually meet that criteria is Dawn and Xander.
Unless of course it is a red herring. Like in When She Was Bad.
I really hope the big bad isn't Giles... That WOULD be lame. How could they explain that he was behind all of this from the start? And how did he talk through the dog, the bird and so on?? He would have had a power behind him if it was the case.
And what was the red herring in 'When she was bad'? The dream where Giles tried to strangle her?
Part of the spell to bring back the Master said it required the people closest to him when he died. Buffy assumed it was her because he had fed from her. However, it actually meant the people physically close to him when he died. So that meant Giles, Jenny, Willow and Cordy.

Whoever Buffy's opponent is, we know that he won the fight and left her beaten and bruised. So, if Buffy is still juiced with power, it can be only Angel. But if she is already depowered, then it can be anybody.

Well we have absolutely no proof that that was the end of the fight. Buffy was down on the ground at that stage, but she wasn't dead.

I don't say that she was dead. I say that she was defeated. She wasn't fighting anymore. She was broken physically and morally. She was crying. She had cross-like wounds in her skin. And, curiously, she had a cross on her neck. (Most likely it's a continuity error, but who knows?)
Anyways, the "betrayal" panels looks like the outcome of the fight to me. I may be wrong, of course.
Then again, if she was de-powered during the fight (somebody broke the Seed and destroyed all magic), then it could be her reaction at losing her power.
There are so many narrative elements, a writer can turn the story in any direction.

Yeah, I see what you what you mean and it certainly could be what happens.
For me, Buffy is not defeated until she is dead. Even then, she can come back and stake your sorry arse. So, I'm not going to take what we saw too literally.

Maybe I chose wrong words (English is not my native language). I meant that she has lost that particular fight and she is devastated. But, of course, her spirit wasn't broken completely and she won't give up her fight.

I think it's Dawn; hope it's Dawn. I mean, if you are going to tear everything apart why not do it right. Dawn is the Big Bad, and that leaves two people as the betrayer Xander or Spike. As Spike and Dawn were always close maybe Spike is returning at the behest of Dawn. Oh.. maybe Dawn and Spike had a 'thing' as Spike grew tired of Buffy toying with him... imagine, Xander being shot down twice by two different Summers women for two different vampires! haha sorry, resume.
Looking back at Issue 10, I didn't get the impression that she'd been 'defeated'.
She's clearly in tears and her anguish looked more emotional than physical.

Maybe it's because the Seed was broken and she has finally got rid of the glow aftereffects? They have to be magic in nature.
And Buffy is definitely beaten - there are cuts on her skin.
On the cover Giles is armed with a stake and a crossbow. Weapons against vampires, hardly a weapon one could use in the ritual of sacrifice.
