Until Season 8 began, the only comics that I had read in almost 40 years were the "Death/Resurrection of Superman" series, so this "Variant Cover" issue is something completely new to me. Just out of curiosity, how many Board members try to collect a particular variant, all variants, or like me, just buy the books to read and don't care one way or the other what cover they get?
 
I don't try and buy Variant covers or even look before I go.
But, I WILL sift through the comics there and pick the cover that I like the best. Does that count?
 
I´d like to pick covers but I don´t have a choice. They send me what they like. Which means that I don´t get the same style on all of them.

I think it may be impossible to get the same style...does that help at all?
When the comic first started I planned to get both each issue.

I did for the first issue and then I stopped, the people at my comic shop make sure I get a painted cover as I asked them to, I think that they look a lot nicer than the other covers, although I do from time to time buy both if I like the cover, such as the Giles and Faith 'The avengers cover'.
 
Well so far I have bought both the regular cover and the variant for every issue of season 8. I'm a geek in that way 😀 I dunno why I do, I just feel like I have to have both covers...
 
if i order from TFAW then they send me what they please. if i stop in midtown comics in the city, i usually pick which ever i like best, but don't do it to collect certain ones or anything.
 
I am a subsciber at my local comic shop so I get whatever they get. I do really want the cover with Dawn as a centaur on the next issue so I may have to special order it later.
 
I buy the Jo Chen/Jon Foster covers. I'd rather have those than the varients, so I'll always go for those.

However, I will be buying the varient for the next issue, Fray and Buffy in the flying car, 'cause it's a funny inside joke for Convention goers like me.
 
I didn't even know there was different covers until I came to this board.
Haven't bought a comic in a long time so I had no idea about such a thing either.

I order my copies online and haven't seen anything that you could choose which cover you want.
So it differs which I get. Guess it would be nice to have all the same but I'll survive.

Only me and one other person at my local comic book store order the comics, so most of the time I don't have a choice. I've gotten only two variants so far. I ordered the regular covers on eBay for those, cause I like to have the complete regular collection. But I also ordered the variant of Wolves at the Gate, Part I because it rocks so hard.

With Angel I just see what I get. There's no real pattern that I want to get completed. But if I got a sucky cover I might go on eBay to get a better one.
 
I get both covers for Buffy every month. For Angel i just get whatever the comic shop gives me, though I usually get the variant if Spike is on the cover, With Spike my comic shop guy has been giving me the retailers incentive ones so that is pretty sweet.
