Agreed. Except about the dog bath thing... Cause I don't have a dog.

Sometimes (often) I find that I enjoy talking to people from BB more than I do my real life friends. The conversation is more stimulating, and I feel more confident about being who I want to be, and saying what I want to say.

I had two tight knit groups of friends a few years ago, but now I find I have nothing in common with them. It's always talking about boys, fashion, hair, and even more irritating, that no one has anything to talk about anymore.
Cait that is it exactly for me! I enjoy coming on here because here everyone is just as passionate as I am. My friends don't see how I can love tv shows and movies to the extent that I do. I feel way more comfortable here.

I was with my friends from high school the other day and for a few minutes I found myself thinking what the heck am I doing here??

Marisa agrees: Zobo you are not alone. After so long partying isn't fun and my friends refuse to believe it will ever go out of style. One of my friends said they hated Buffy! I was in such shock and I was like okay I will have to call you back LOL.
One of my friends said I wasn't allowed to talk about Buffy because it offended him. He said Buffy was awful and he will never ever watch it. It's mere existence offends him now. I'm like "you're an idiot and I can't talk to you."

When it comes to my shows I will admit I can be a little anal but wow I was just so appalled. Then he had the nerve to tell me Jersey shore and stuff was the best. i was like okay those are entertaining but they are not a "show".
I talk to my mom about Buffy she understands I guess it is true when people say your mom can be your best friend. I have her watch my shows and she likes them and we talk. I enjoy her company. My friends get mad because I don't want to go "out" I would rather just chill at home with my mom.

Zobo you can talk to me about Buffy anytime. 😉 and I agree with what you said.

Chilling with mum is one of my favourite things to do!
The government has decided to mess with university tution fees!!! There goes my chance of going to a top uni 🙁

I am so tired of people getting down on me about my dieting habits.

Okay, so I started a diet and I have drastically changed the way I eat. No, it's not making me skinny within a month, but the fact that I've cut out all of the junk food/sodas that I used to snack on all day, says a lot. Unfortunately, instead of being praised for that, I just continue to be told that I "need to do this" or I "should be doing that" or else I'll "never lose weight". It's exhausting to hear! I mean, I'm doing this all on my own despite the fact that I have an eating disorder which no one around here wants to acknowledge because they "don't believe in them"...

*sigh* For once, I'd just like a little recognition for all the hell I'm putting myself through with this stupid diet.

Oh man, that sounds so frustrating. I know that with dieting, each step counts. So, it's really good you cut out junk foods and soda.

y'know what - yay for you! Cutting that junk out will make you feel better in the long run. Point your tongue at the nay-sayers and keep doing your thing, hun!

I wish you the best of luck with it. I know how hard it can be to try to change your lifestyle for the better whilst not relapsing. If you want to rant at all I'm here. x
I have a paper to write in psychology on people with gambling problems... Let me count the ways I do not care about gamblers... especially the psychology behind gambling.

No, people feel uncomfortable around me because I'm not "normal." I do things that most people are like "what the hell?" And it's just normal... Like I sing. I sing along to my iPod quietly while I'm walking. Or if I don't do that, I lip sync. People think that's strange. Or I make obscure TV references like Abed... Or dress strangely... I don't know. I never have been one who "fits in." But to me, that's all part of my charm. Also, I tend to overthink things... and I'll say out loud what I'm thinking and people don't like that. And then there's my ability to form a strong opinion on any subject... just talk to me about something for five minutes and I'll develop a strong opinion on the subject if I haven't already. People generally don't like that either. Especially since I have a hard time keeping my opinions to myself.

Wow, you're so much like me it's scary, except I learned to avoid voicing opinions on anything, figuring no one will care or listen, so what's the point?

That's why I came here - I don't know anyone personally who watches these shows.

Went on two interviews, really got my hopes up and ended up been rejected twice. Seriously gutted 🙁

Damn. Very sorry to hear that twice in a day. It's probably a cliche but honestly it's all about not having expectations. It may seem too easy, but it really does make it easier - and if it turns out right, then all the better.

One of my friends said I wasn't allowed to talk about Buffy because it offended him. He said Buffy was awful and he will never ever watch it. It's mere existence offends him now. I'm like "you're an idiot and I can't talk to you."

Wow. Offended him? What exactly offended him about it? I have to know....please?

Is he one of those "girls are weak, guys are strong" types, or anti-vampire because of the Twilight popularity? If he never watched it, maybe it's just because it has to do with something specific that he thinks Buffy has to do with, that makes him say no to anything about it?

I have NO IDEA what offends him about Buffy! Neither does he because he's never actually watched it! That's what pissed me off so much.

No, he just hates it because I like it. He's stupid like that... we're kinda no longer friends... I can't put up with that shit anymore. He does stuff like that all the time... Talks crap about things he likes after he finds out I like them. It's stupid and childish. It's like he'd rather fight with me then give something a chance and try to have something in common with me.

That's not even a reason. You are definitely in the right because really, who needs that hassle?
WTF? I've reached my limit with giving out karma points! First time that's happened! 🙁

I wanted to give you rep, but couldn't 🙁 Anyways, it's taken me a while, but I've learned to not care what others may think of me. If some things I do are weird to them (like I do the exact same thing with my iPod), then that's their issues, not mine. Same thing if I have a strong opinion about something. If people don't like that you're expressing your opinions, that's their problem. One of my favorite quotes is "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." - Dr. Seuss 🙂 We can't please everybody.

Lol, the rep thing happens to me ALL the time.
the people who make dorritos are liars! they said the new brand (1st degree, 2nd degree, 3rd degree burn) would be maaaad spicey. so i tried 2nd degree burn and they were pretty good, so we bought a bag of 3rd degree and they were terrible. they lied to us and then we had to deal with semi-spicey dorritos. booo

I'm so alone. There's no one in my "real life" life who gets me, who listens to me, who cares about me... I mean I have "real life" friends who do all those things... but they're not here. They're off at college and I'm alone. I have no one. And I can't deal with my father anymore. Every thing is my fault. My sister is rude to me and it's my fault. It's not my fault she's a little brat. It's not my fault she's about to get herself in serious trouble with the law and/or school. It's not my fault dad has money problems. It's not my fault the cat ran away. It's not my fault. And I'm alone... I try to talk to people... but really I have you guys... I have BB. And I love everyone here. Because you all make me feel less alone in my life... but really IRL, I'm all alone. And that's an awful and scary realization.

it IS an awful realization, and when you learn to live with it - if it ever comes to that, well...I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
M
Marisa
I know how that feels. I had a serious meltdown one day because I came to this realization. I am here for you Zobo if you need me :) I am glad you are on the boards.
Remember I said we're a lot alike a few posts above? I don't really have any "real life" friends at all. I wasn't worth their time it seems. I live that realization every single day....that's why I joined this and several other Buffy-based forums and love these shows.

"Online friends" are all there is....for some of us. Whether that's a good or bad thing remains to be seen.

One of my biggest flaws is that I volunteer too much personal information - too big an open book. I suppose I should shut up now but believe me I could go on about this but the point would remain the same:

I understand, and for whatever little it may or may not mean, I care.

---------- Post added at 08:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:16 PM ----------

it's kind of surprising how much that actually means, internet / distance be damned.

Z
zobothehobo
I do that too! Offer too much personal information. And it does mean a lot. I mean, it would mean more if you weren't all the way in Canada, but rather, here in NC, but it means a lot because I'm not COMPLETELY alone in my life. And neither are you.
Ugh today, is a bad day. I'm walking into work super happy because I wake up in a good mood. As soon as I open the door, good feeling goes away and anger takes over me. The two managers that closed didn't restock the candy, didn't restock the soda, did put the movies in the shelves (more than 130 movies), and they didn't put the prices on the retail. All of these things have a note wig my name on it saying "Joann, do these". No please. No thank you. No explanation as to why it wasn't done the night before. Then to make matters worse, my district manager calls the store and tells me that I'm behind on my sales goal. First of all, there is a first time for everything buddy, and y'all o ly gave 20 hours. How can you expect me to meet my ridiculous goals off of only 20 hrs?! And secondly, how can I meet my sales goals if I'm constantly going and fixing any errors anyone leaves behind. Ugh!!!!!! Woooh-zah....

When you find them, give it right back...or worse ;)
Sometimes I see things outside when I'm on a simple dog walk that I wish I could burn out of my brain with sulfuric acid. Things that lead to placing phone calls to the police for indecency....another reason to hate Friday and Saturday nights.

Haha totally get you! I used to live in a rough area and one Saturday morning on my way to work I saw a guy off his head on drugs take down his pants and do a poo. Charming. Right on the footpath in front of me. Needless to say, I crossed the road.
