Veronica Mars and iZombie (semi Buffy Versions?)

How much Buffy the Vampire Slayer is in Veronica Mars and iZombie?

Joss Whedon recommends iZombie and loves Veronica Mars...
 
Never seen Veronica Mars, but izombie is good, though not much like Buffy at all.
 
I'm the opposite. I've watched Veronica Mars and highly recommend it. Joss is even in an episode. 😉 Not a big role but noticeable.As for similarities the lead is a kick ass female that's witty.

If you want more shows Joss loves there's the 2004 version of Battlestar Galactica. There's strong kick ass females there too but that's there the easy similarities stop. If you've ever heard/seen someone used the word Frak and wondered there it's from Battlestar Galactica (old and new) is the answer.

BSG is honestly one of the greatest shows ever made. It makes me wish I'd named my cat Kara (my next cat will definitely be a Kara!) - I love Starbuck, she's a great heroine, I can understand why Joss loves the show. The final season is a little ropey, but it's just fantastic.

Veronica Mars is something I'd love to try, it's in my queue, after Freaks and Geeks and Dollhouse 😉

And the final episode is the ropiest. But as a whole, yeah, it's a one of the better things that TV has done. And considering it was done on the bloody Sci-Fy channel is even more impressive.

If not for Olmos and his dictating the direction of the show before he agreed to do it, I think it would have been wholly different.
 
Just started the first episode of Veronica Mars, and it seems really good. It does seem to have a lot of Buffy in it.
 
I managed to watch both the bad episodes of Veronica Mars. iZombie seems quite good but it is on at weird times, So when the DVD of it comes out I'll get to see it.
I can't think why it is on so late, that had a guy they called the headless horseman even though it turned out to be someone else. It was really badly made so what's a bit of brain's here or there.
 
I'm 5 or 6 episodes into iZombie and I'm not sure whether I'll keep going or not. It's an interesting concept and there are quite a few funny lines. I also think the villain they're building up shows a lot of promise. There are definitely similarities with Buffy. The lead is a peppy blonde who can do some serious damage. They're trying to build an ensemble cast and there's already the Buffy/Angel style impossible love interest.

It has a pet peeve of mine featured prominently though and that is hearing what the main character is thinking as a voiceover all the time. My girlfriend had one of her trashy shows on while I was in the room and the first thing I noticed was how unbelievably irritating it is to have a running commentary like that. I think the show has potential but I'm not hooked.

Does anyone know where to watch Veronica Mars in the UK? I've always meant to give it a go but never found a place showing it.
 
The only similarities I can think of are peppy, witty, strong and petite blonde girls in the lead. And I guess maybe somewhat complicated love lives (more so for Buffy and iZombie than Veronica Mars, due to the supernatural elements). 🙂
 
i-zombie does had a British guy in it, one of the main reason I watch - Rahul Kohli 🙂
