Yay, it's not allot but it's something!!

The CW network has extended the lives of two of its shows, college detective Veronica Mars and teen drama One Tree Hill. Both shows have been given orders for three more episodes apiece.

Mars has held steady since its third-season premier in October, matching its series-best ratings and retaining much of its Gilmore Girls lead-in. At the TCA in July, show-runner Rob Thomas said he was "acting like man who had been given a full season order."

Hill has seen ratings growth this season, retaining almost 90 percent of its America's Next Top Model lead-in teen audience. The show beat Fox's The O.C. last week in adults 18 to 49, with a 1.6 rating/4 share and has improved 14 percent in the demo compared to last year.

Both Mars and Hill had been on the bubble when The WB and UPN merged into The CW in the spring. Fans breathed easy when they both made the cut to the new network, but the CW hasn't broken out in the ratings as had hoped, and the shows aren't out of the woods yet.

The CW was expected to reap the rewards of having the combined fans of the highest-rated shows from each of the former networks. Instead, the new net pulls in about the same exact amount of viewers as either of those networks did by themselves.

Mm, it's something, and it makes me glad. Still want the whole season though of course, and I want to know kind soon if that's going to happen or not, or I want the VM people to know soon, so that the end doesn't have to be rushed, hm..
 
Yeah it kind of sucks to just know that you'll have three more episodes. Those could be the last ones ever, or there could in theory be many more seasons.. Hm.. I'm hoping fo rthe many more seasons thing but yeah..
 
God this is stressful. I am just hoping that everything will turn out fine. I cant have it stop half way through a season. In fact worst case scenario would be having it stop before a mystery was solved. seriously i might die.
 
That sucks. 3 episodes is not enough. They better be really good episodes. Like VM said above, it can't just end in the middle of the season. I seriously wish (where's Anya when you need her? I bet I could find one of the guys who agreed on ordering only 3) there'll be a next season. And a next. And a next...

HOLLYWOOD -- There'll be a little bit less "Veronica Mars" on the CW.

Net has decided to order just 20 episodes of "Mars" this season vs. the standard 22 episodes for returning skeins. Decision was handed down late Thursday and confirmed Friday by the network.

CW only committed to 13 episodes of "Mars" last May when the net set its first-ever fall schedule. Its decision to add seven episodes to that order means the skein will live on -- but that prospects for a fourth season remain hazy if ratings don't pick up in the second half of the season.

Despite having a new and improved lead-in from ex-WB skein "Gilmore Girls," "Mars" has done little to improve its ratings this season, growing a scant 5% among the CW-friendly women 18-34 aud.

A fourth season of "Mars" is critical to producer Warner Bros. TV, since the studio needs to wrap a critical mass of episodes to ensure any sort of life for the show in syndication.

Meanwhile, CW is also ordering eight additional episodes of fourth year drama "One Tree Hill," ensuring the WBTV-produced skein will make it to syndication. Like "Mars," "One Tree Hill" was also given a 13-seg pickup last spring.

Latter skein is up a whopping 23% among female teens and has retained more of its "America's Next Top Model" lead-in than any other past series to follow the show when it aired on UPN.

Yay for an almost full season for VM. I llooovvveeee this show. Love it.

And if it's possible I love Kristen Bell even more. Do the laws of psychics ALLOW anyone to be any more cuter than she is?!

I'm happy too. I really wish I could just be happy.. but like you said, now starts the worrying for the next season, gah.
 
Absolutly cannot WAIT to see the next half of the season. I'm crossing my fingers for some more mac-ness. But I have to admit, the death of the dean isnt that interesting. But, in all its Veronica mars-ness there will be twists.
 
3 more days 😀 Cant wait!

Problem is I watched all 2 and a half seasons one after the other. Now I have to wait a week in between each 🙁
 
I know that feeling. Today I caught up with Battlestar Galactica, been watching season 1, 2 and half of 3 the last few weeks.. and now I have to wait a week for every dose of Starbuck, gah...
 
Hey, I'm not a Veronica Mars watcher. Was this actually a credible Y: The Last Man shoutout? I'm a VM fan, if so, heh.
 
God I really hope so. I didn't think of it while watching the VM episode, but I'd be very surprised if it was a coincidence.. Wow I love that show.. and I love Y.. Heh. Thanks for the link goldenboy, I hadn't checked that board out for a few weeks..
