Video Help, Please!

I've been trying to figure this out by myself for several weeks now, and I give up.

I want to take bits of TV shows and movies from the DVDs and make clips from them in order to show them in my classes. For example, I need part of "Becoming Part 2" alongside bits of "Faith, Hope and Trick." But I CANNOT seem to get it to work. I can get the footage off the DVD, but if I don't convert to .avi, I don't get any audio. If I DO convert to .avi, I can't clip it.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to make this work?

Okay, I have clippage! Go me! Now if I can just get Windows Movie Maker to put the clips TOGETHER. . . .

Edit again: I have clippage with unsynched audio. Frak. Help!

What program do you use to clip it? Is there an option to convert it to .wmv? 🙂

Okay, here's what I've been doing. I've tried following this (Monster Zero Productions - Video Tutorial) tutorial, which doesn't give me any audio output no matter how I try to tweak it. If I go straight from the DVD Decrypter thing to AutoGK (making it into an .avi), I get audio, and I figured out how to clip it using Virtual Dub, but then the audio was off by a couple of seconds. AND I can't combine clips because Windows Movie Maker won't do anything with .avi files for some godsunknown reason.

Anything you know will be helpful.

I think if you download Xvid and Divx you'll get a lot of the codecs that are used for .avi files. That way WMP and WMM can play and edit most .avi files.
