Views on Americans

well, the american people i know are nice and smart people
but i hate america for their politic....it is arrogant and such a lying thing
i hope kerry will be the next president and it'll get a at least a bit better

As far as the country, i'm sometimes jealous of the money difference or that it's got better stuff then canada, and the tv shows and actors well ROCK, where canada sometimes i'm really embarrassed. only it's not cool to rip on canada in those american tv shows. 😡 i'd like to go shopping in the US or visit but i'd never wanna live there. and most american people i have talked to have been alright, some nice, some really mean or lacking much common sense. only i can't stand any american patriots, or any patriotic people really! i love canada, but i don't go on and on about it. but i guess it's their opinion and i can respect it, just not understand it. ::huh::

i have to make a remark on what i said earlier... that i have no problems with americans!!! 🙂 but i do some timesd quetion the goverment and some desitions made... i mean look at all the great american peoplein here :: teeth :

Ohhh!!! Not all Americans are smug. People like me understand it was our own arrogance the made us vulnerable. And I'm not arrogant. Or at least I don't think I am. Hmmm never ask anyone if I was. I hope I'm not!!! O gee I need to stop yammering.

Anyways I kind of think people liked Bush at first and then he made those stupid mistakes. We all do that sometimes. But then again he has no room for mistakes and he makes them anywayz. I'm mean we all deserve a second chance and if he does get relected then I hope he doesn't blow it. I'm not sure of Kerry because there are alot of thing he does that I don't agree with. He's pro choice and I'm pro life. And I hear he plans on doing something that will raise our taxes. Which I don't support. I'm mean some lower class families fight to get by and that's not gonna help. I mean it's hard to keep up with taxes, bill, groceries, and children. I mean it's expensive to live in America. Especially when our economy is kinda sucking right now.

And to those who don't know what pro choice is: it's supporting the choice to abort(Murder) babies. I support adoption. I mean if you aren't responsibile enough to have kids then you shouldn't be having sex. There are so many diseases like Herpes, Chlymidia, Gynorea, Syphilis, and HPV. Not to mention HIV and AIDS. I mean did you know 1 out of 3 sexually active people have an STD. And most don't even know they have one? There is also the chance of getting pregnant. I support absteinance programs all around the nation. I mean it worked for me. I plan on waiting.

I didn't want to say anything before, but this is exactly what I knew this topic would turn into. A battle of why America sucks. This was an inapropriate topic to begin with, in my opinion. It is only going to cause rage. And non-Americans who can't keep their mouth shut are just going to cause offense.

Ninjalizer, you are overeactink.. i think that most of the people here are mature enought to say there opinnions without being just morons.. and firts of all the majoritie of the critis presented here were not against the american people but most against the government and the politics...

Oh I'm not overreacting. I'm not angry. I just think that this was an inappropriate topic. I don't get offended by things people say about America, unless they're untrue. SOME people might be mature enough for it, but there will always be a few who have to say something that will offend someone else. Views on people's countries often do that. Religion also.

What if someone made a topic about views on Catholics, for example. Someone is bound to say "The Catholic religion is stupid" or something like that. That's all I'm saying. It's bound to get ugly. Honestly, I couldn't care less though.

i agree with you that it could leed to that, but this are good topics to discusss, i just think there has got be respect..i might not agree with many of the american policys but i have to respect the people that do belive in them..the argument "i don't like americas because they are stupid" doesen't make any sence..i mean we aren't any 5year old kids in kindengarden..i think that a good discussion could be possible if everyone has respect by the others...that's all.

Hay Faldor, i think they think we're mad at each other. Tell them we're buddys so they'll calm down.

EyedXand, you know i love ya 😛

everyone else calm down. commenting on other peoples level of maturity isnt a very mature thing to do in itself.

Rant and rave to your hearts content!

so with that in mind, you cant suddenly demand people only have nice opinions.

No one ever demanded it. It's just a inappropriate topic, in my opinion. Or maybe I'll just say this...not the best topic.

Yeah I am worried about our troops. I'm just stating my dislike for John Kerry. I think he is not the best canidate for the election. I mean the Democrats can do better than him. I really don't think both of them shounld be in office. I not voting. I'm to young. You have to be 18 to vote and I'm 16. And even if I was old enough; the whole screw up in Florida let me know that my vote doesn't count. So why vote for both the dumb@sses?

I watched the documentary on Aileen, the woman serial killer, i would just like to say that i think the death penalty is wrong, i know she killed those people, but i still dont think its right to do that.
I know alot of americans are all for the death penalty and such, but isnt right.

( i dont really think this goes with the main topic, but i wanted to post it.)

persoanally being british i dont like the american peopel but as individuals i love them. but i have to say being british i dont like the british people but as indivituals they are great.

I think there is a lot of stick when it comes to the american people on a whole but if you look at people individually they arent at all like what people say about them, but when people get together its the same every where, britian, we have the stigma of behing snobs and the americans have the image of being sheep but its only the nation on the hole each person is very much differrent.

so basically i dont like the americans as a nation but people are suprising and they dont usally conform to things when they are on their own.

opinion only no offence.

Just a point of fact about history. If we were having this conversation 100 yrs ago (well, not on the computer...) you could substitute "English" or "British" for "American". Let us not forget that Britain was the power at that time, and the rest of the world felt the same way about them as the world now feels about the US. It's a basic human reaction...the people with the most power draw the most envy and vitriol. The rest of the world expects the US to adhere to some set of rules that are above and beyond that of what every other country must live by. A perfect case in point is the ongoing investigation of the abuses of prisoners in Iraq. I didn't want to do this here, but...Yes, what the US troops did was nasty and disgusting and I think that the perpetraters should be held accountable. I also think that if you visit any prison anywhere but the "Western World" you would see prisoners treated in a way that "inhumane" just doesn't begin to cover...or they would be beheaded...sorry, that just slipped out...

I think that most people here can distinguish between the US governmental policy and the beliefs of individual Americans. That's good. Remember to make the distinction when posting here (almost everyone has!) and remember that, in general, generalizations are misleading 🙂.
