Did Buffy Flatline in Villians?

I saw that scene again just to be 100% sure and thus I voted yes.
Even though there's this doubt about the screen behind Buffy being a little wavy when Willow enters the room, I'm not sure if that's her heart rate or not. But the beep thing is definitely going beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep so I guess she was dead for about 30 seconds.
 
Yup and in the transcript it quotes the Beeeeeeeeeeep as a steady whine which would indicate a flatline meaning Buffy was technically dead..
 
I would probably have voted no on this some weeks ago.. But after our recent discussion about the slayer line, I'll definetly vote yes, she was dead, technically..
 
The screen definitely did the long beep, and as I understand it that implies heart death.

Does that mean she was dead though. Again as I understand it a person isn't technically dead, until oxygen is no longer being supplied to the cells, or something like that. I believe it's called "brain death". It means the person cannot be revived through known means.

On the other hand if Buffy wasn't dead by Buffyverse definition there, then would she have been dead in Prophecy Girl. It would appear the answer would be - no, she would not have been dead in Prophecy Girl either. That wouldn't make sense, so my opinion would be "Yes. By the Buffyverse definition of death, Buffy was dead in Villains."
 
I'm gonna rewatch the ep before I vote...not that I doubt what you're telling me. As for the death/not death thing: Remember, the slayer line is ancient, and to the ancients lack of a heartbeat was death. They had no notion of "brain death", so as a theoretical exercise, if the heart stopped, it was death according to the slayers' mystical setup.
