Virginia Tech Shooting

i think he's a disgusting excuse for a human.

Fo real?
I think he kicked ass. What was it, 31/32 bodies? Babes, that straight to the top of the leader board. That's like new high score, yo!

He wasn't just pulling, he was packing!

Hey, I respect a good shot. I'm tired of hearing about them being armed to the teeth and only taking out a half dozen or so.

I bet as he was walking through the campus he had this song playing in his head. Because I know he secretly wanted to be called John, that's why he went nuts and started popping people.

lol while he may have gone "straight to the top", it doesnt make him any less of a halfwit jackass
BUT.. anyone that wants a weapon will find a way to obtain one, whether legally or not. It's not the gun that kills people but the person behind it pulling the trigger.

I've heard this arguement a lot this week, and to some extent it's true. But if this kid, this kid with a history of seriously antisocial behaviour who'd spent time in a Mental Health facilty, had been unable to buy his weapons and ammunition legally, then what alternatives would he have had? Could he feasibly have killed 32 people with a knife or a car or whatever without any difficulty? Could he have obtained an illegal gun in the area around Virginia Tech? Two? Could he have paid for them? If he could, would he have been able to reload the few dozen times he must have done?

Obviously, there were absolutely no acceptable casualties. But the fact remains that if this guy had been unable to get hold of those guns and that much ammo so easily, there are at the very least a dozen people who would still be alive today.

I'm a European. I've fired a lot more guns than most Europeans, and I've developed a serious distate for them. Obviously, my view is biased, and I can't sit here and dictate to America or Americans how they should think or act or want to run their county, but honestly, it frightens the living hell out of me that there doesn't even seem to be a serious discussion raised on gun control in the aftermath of this. Computer games, movies and the effectiveness of psychiatric services are all being hauled out into the spotlight, but gun control is just a side issue nobody seems to seriously want to deal with. That scares me a lot.

Ok, for arguments sake... I understand scholarships and its completely plausible that he had them, along with student loans.. his family owns several businesses so I am sure that they were able to help him out financially. I just do not agree with his "rich kids" rant. He was diagnosed as possibly autistic as a child which could explain his non social behaviour. His time in a mental health facility was short and inconclusive. That information is not subject to reporting to any state organizations that would have hindered him from buying a weapon. One weapon was purchased in Roanoke and one in Blacksburg, the clips were purchased off of Ebay (so it was easy to obtain). I dont care where you live, whether it is Blacksburg or Beverly Hills, you can obtain an illegal weapon. Do I think that Americans need stricter gun laws..YES!! Until this actually takes place, these events will happen.

I don't know if it's me underreacting or the media overreacting.
I'm surprised that school shootings do not happen more often.

I would be lying if I said that I knew anything about this topic. I really don't.

Does it matter what reason he gave for shooting 30-odd people?

The reasoning seems to be that if you want it hard enough, you can get it. I completely disagree with this. It is easy to obtain guns in America, because they are everywhere. Why are they everywhere?

Come to Scotland and try to buy a gun off the street. The only thing you'll get is robbed. The kids in Scotland are not running around with guns.
Do I think that Americans need stricter gun laws..YES!! Until this actually takes place, these events will happen.

America doesn't need stricter laws, what it needs is a total prohibition on gun sales. It's obvious. It won't happen though, because of money.

Why does a person need to own a gun? For protection? From other people with guns..?

To hunt? Guns for hire, yo.

Scotland has a knife culture. The Scottish police do everything in their power to reduce the amount of knives that are on Scottish streets. They have launched several schemes, and if I'm not mistaken, knife crime has dramatically dropped.

What is being done in America to reduce the amount of gun crimes? Open more shops? Sell more guns? Hey give everybody a gun, then it's a fair fight..... There will be no more innocents killed. Just losers in a duel!
