Alright, so yet another one... with this we also cross the halfway bar of this season.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer 9.06 "Carnival Horrible"

TEASER
INT. COURTROOM - DAY
The courtroom is quite empty. GUNN and XANDER are in the
defendant's bench, NICOLE and MR. FISHER in the other one, and
the JUDGE, of course, is in his counsel.
JUDGE
Given the evidence presented to us by
Mr. Gunn, proving this whole thing was
a scam, I hereby clear the defendant
of all charges. Case closed.
The judge slams with his hammer on his counsel and Gunn and
Xander get up to congratulate each other. Mr. Fisher quickly
gets out of the room, and the judge also makes way to leave.
Then, Nicole walks toward Gunn and Xander.
NICOLE
Well, congratulations!
(She shakes hands with both
Xan and Gunn.)
Nice detective work, by the way.
GUNN
Thank you.
NICOLE
On that note, my apologies; I had no
idea of the faul play involved.
XANDER
That's quite alright.
They now turn to walking out of the room. Gunn in front,
followed by Nicole and Xander next to each other.
XANDER (CONT'D)
Say, now that this whole thing is
over. I was wondering, if maybe you
would perhaps... You know, if it's not
against any kind of etiquette?
Nicole gives him a confused look; then, she smiles.
NICOLE
I leave office at six, so pick me up
at seven.
(She hands him her card.)
My address in on there.
INT. COURT CORRIDOR - DAY (CONT'D)
XANDER
Thanks.
She prepares to walk away, as Xander pauses to stay with Gunn,
who's in the back, getting a coffee.
NICOLE
See you then.
XANDER
Yeah, see you then.
She walks away, but before she leaves, she turns around one more
time.
NICOLE
Oh, and make sure you can actually say
the word "date" by then.
Then she leaves, as Gunn joins Xander again.
GUNN
I heard that.
They start walking to the exit.
XANDER
I have a...
GUNN
C'mon, you can do it.
XANDER
Date.
GUNN
See, it wasn't that hard, now was it?
XANDER
I guess not. Still feels a bit weird.
EXT. COURT PARKING LOT - DAY (CONT'D)
XANDER
My last date was about two years ago
and she turned out to be a demon; they
always do... Well, except for
Cordelia, but hey!
GUNN
Still, it's quite a long time.
XANDER
Yeah well, my ex. I stood her up at
the altar.
GUNN
Ouch.
XANDER
That was about three years ago. I
guess I always felt that it was going
to be okay between us... But then she
had to die. Going out on a date, I
kinda feel like I'm betraying her.
GUNN
(Sighs.)
I can relate. Fred, she died last
year. She'd been the biggest love of
my life, but I don't really feel that
I'm betraying her, although I get what
you mean.
They reach their cars.
XANDER
Well then, our collaboration is over,
it was a pleasure doing business with
you. Send my greetings to the home
front.
GUNN
Will do, the pleasure was mutual.
They shake hands and both walk to their cars and open their
doors.
XANDER
Bye then.
GUNN
Bye... Oh and remember, corny as it
may sound, all she would want is for
you to be happy.
Xander nods. They get in and the cars drive off.
FADE TO BLACK.

INT. PSYCHIATRICAL HOSPITAL OFFICE - DAY
Buffy is working behind the a desk on a PC. We're watching her
from the back. Suddenly, a man in a dark suit moves into the
frame. He clears his throat and at this, Buffy turns around.
BUFFY
Giles?
ANGLE ON: The both of them, from the side.
GILES
I'm sorry.
(A beat.)
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, and I
could and should go on like that, at
least a thousand times.
Another beat, while Buffy stands in doubt. Then Buffy
practically jumps into his arms and hugs him; she starts crying,
as does he.
BUFFY
I'm sooo glad you are.
GILES
So am I.
BUFFY
I missed you.
GILES
So did I, Buffy. So did I.
FADE TO:
INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE - DAY
The trio is home, as well as Jazz. They are hanging around a
bit, looking bored. This is when Xander comes in. He sits down
on the couch, in between Dawn and Kara, with a big smile.
XANDER
Good morning ladies, how are you
today?
KARA
We're good, how about yourself?
DAWN
Yeah, you look happy today; I take it
the trial went well?
XANDER
The trial? Oh yeah, that went quite
well too; yes, indeed it did.
LUX
Are you sure you're okay? You look a
bit... Different?
XANDER
Well, as a matter of fact, one might
say
(He rises proudly.)
I am a different new man standing
before you here today.
DAWN
Okay, this is getting weird. Just,
tell us what's up!?
XANDER
I have a date.
Lux, Kara, and Dawn's eyes all widen, and then they jump up,
screaming.
DAWN
Wow, Xander's I'm so proud of you!
They all hug him.
XANDER
Careful ladies, don't crush me... I
have a date.
They let go, but stare at him in anticipation.
LUX
Well?
A blank stare.
KARA
What are you going to do?
XANDER
I hadn't really thought it through
that much...
DAWN
Oh my god, how can you not?
KARA
It *is* the hardest part of a date.
XANDER
Really? Bummer, and here I was letting
go of all stress after hearing her
agree.
LUX
You're a pretty good cook! Fix her a
dinner; she'll love it.
Kara and Dawn nod agreeingly. Then, Buffy enters... with Giles.
BUFFY
Hi, guys.
GILES
Take a look at who the Slayer dragged
in, huh?
There's a moment of silence.
GILES (CONT'D)
I know it's been a long time... Too
long. We didn't part in particularly
friendly ways last time, and I
should've been here much earlier to
apologise.
DAWN
(To Buffy.)
Does this mean we can hug now?
Buffy nods and smiles, as Dawn jumps into Giles' arms. When she
lets go, Xander takes over.
FADE TO:
INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE - DAY
Lux, Kara, Dawn, Buffy, and Giles are at the dining table.
Xander comes in with Tea.
XANDER
There you go... One cup of old
fashioned English Tea for the right
honourable English gentleman.
GILES
(Hesistantly.)
Lovely...
(He sips it, then looks
pleasantly surprised.)
Lovely, indeed!
Xander continues to hand out cups of Tea to the others.
DAWN
So, how long are you staying? *Where*
are you staying?
GILES
As long as I need to, and at the
motel. You know on my way from the
airport, when I drove into town... I
saw this girl, and there was such a
remarkable likeness that I could swear
it was-
BUFFY, XANDER AND DAWN
(Simultaneously.)
...Amy.
GILES
Well, I was going suggest a Volkahr
demon, but now that you mention it.
XANDER
You're a bit behind on the news,
aren't you?
GILES
How is that?
XANDER
Well, she's more or less one of us
now.
GILES
I'm terribly sorry, my staff forwards
most the news regarding you guys, but
I do occasionally miss a memo, when
I'm on trips like this one.
DAWN
Memo-forwarding staff, now there's
something for my Christmas wish-list.
What else is new in England?
GILES
Nothing too interesting, I'm afraid. I
fought a major battle just last week
and scored another victory over
bureaucracy. But how about here, any
other memo's I missed?
BUFFY
We cured all Slayers in the world from
their berserk state.
GILES
I noticed that one.
BUFFY
I s'pose you know about Kennedy?
GILES
Yes... It's quite tragic. If there's
anything...
BUFFY
And we might just have another
apocalypse on our hands. Seraph
thingy... And some ancient African
demon on the hunt for it.
GILES
I know all about that one.
BUFFY
Then I suppose you're about up-to
date.
DAWN
Not entirely!
BUFFY
How's that?
The Trio turns to Xander, at their lead, so do Buffy and Giles.
XANDER
I've got a date.
GILES
Well, my congratulations.
BUFFY
Wow, Xander, good for you... with that
lawyer, Nicole?
XANDER
Yes, indeed. In fact, I was thinking,
it might be a good idea to invite her
over and have a small intimate dinner
right here.
BUFFY
Sounds very good.
XANDER
That would mean however, that I'd
require some... Privacy?
BUFFY
Sounds even better!
XANDER
Not that kind... although, that would
be nice too.
BUFFY
What you really mean to say is... get
out of here!?!
(She turns to Giles.)
What do you say, we go somewhere more
private...
(she glances at Xander,
jokingly)
To talk.
GILES
That would be wonderful.
Xander turns to the Trio.
LUX
We'll be gone too, don't worry.
DAWN
Why don't we all go to the Carnival.
Could be nice for Giles and Jazz.
We'll ask Amy, Ken, Will, Mercutio?
(She turns to Buffy.)
If you guys want you can just stroll
onto the beach whenever you want to
talk.
BUFFY
I guess-
XANDER
...Great, I don't expect any of you
back before midnight.
FADE TO BLACK.
ACT II
EXT. EDMONSVILLE PIER - NIGHT
Amy, Willow, Kennedy and Mercutio have already gathered near the
entrance to the Carnival, when the Trio, Jazz, Buffy, and Giles
arrive. The others are obviously surprised to see Giles there,
but Willow seeing as how Buffy is being friendly to Giles,
understands their problems are at least partially dealt with and
on this runs towards Giles to hug him. The others gather around
them.
WILLOW
(Softly.)
I've missed you.
She lets go.
BUFFY
Giles, let me introduce you.
(Pointing at Mercutio.)
This is my friend, Mercutio.
(Turns to Jazz.)
This is Dawn's foreign exchange
student, Jazz...
Or actually it's jasp-something, but
we can't pronounce it properly....
Well then, Mercutio, Jazz... This is
Giles, my erm... librarian.
Jazz looks a bit puzzled, but Mercutio gets who she means; they
shake hands. The groups starts moving onto the pier.
CUT TO:
INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE KITCHEN - NIGHT
Xander is working hard to fix a fancy dinner. The whole kitchen
is a big mess. He's putting the finishing touch on a oven-dish,
with chicken. Then he puts it in the oven and puts a timer on.
Then he leaves.
CUT TO:
EXT. NICOLE'S APARTMENT BLOCK - NIGHT
Xander, nicely dressed, rings the bell. After a while, Nicole
opens, she too is very nicely dressed, and looks stunning.
XANDER
Wow... erm, I mean... Hi, erm.
NICOLE
Good evening... and thanks; you look
good too! So, erm where are we going?
They start walking toward the car.
XANDER
To my house; some of my female friends
convinced me a home-cooked meal would
be the way to go.
They get in.
CUT TO:
INT. XANDER'S CAR - NIGHT (CONT'D)
NICOLE
Really? You can cook?
XANDER
Somehow, everyone is always surprised,
when I tell them that. Yes, I can
cook. Through necessity I've learned
it; you see, my two housemates are
really bad at it, or rather too lazy,
and we all still have to eat...
NICOLE
So, you volunteered. That's.. Sweet, I
guess... But, by god, I hope that's
not what you put in your personal ads.
XANDER
I'd probably write 24 year old male
construction worker with an eye-patch
seeks female knight in shining white
car to save him from two monstrous
housemates.
NICOLE
I don't think that'd work.
XANDER
What would you say, if you had to
write one for me then?
NICOLE
I'd just leave a few words out... End
up with something like... Male...
Seeks female?
XANDER
Nice, that's real nice.
They laugh.
XANDER (CONT'D)
... So, could you maybe write that
down?
Nicole bursts into laughter.
FADE TO:
EXT. EDMONSVILLE PIER - NIGHT
A middle-aged, somewhat scruffy looking man, who has, other then
being on this show, no reason whatsoever to rouse our
suspicions, parks his van behind one of the rides. He gets out
of it and walks up to the boot, which he opens. In it are carbon
boxes, one of which he opens. He grabs into it and takes out a
few candy bars. As he grins eerily the camera pulls up to his
face and we can see the wrapper of the candy bar, which we
recognise from bad candy. (See Buffy 3.06 "Bad Candy")
CUT TO:
EXT. EDMONSVILLE PIER - NIGHT
The gang strolls over the pier towards one of the rides, as they
reach it all get into the lines, except Buffy and Giles.
BUFFY
Guys, I think me and Giles will go for
a stroll; we've got some things to
discuss still.
The others nod understandingly, and Buffy and Giles walk off. As
they do, a man from the carnival walks up to Kennedy.
SECURITY GUY
I'm sorry ma'am, but this ride is not
accessible to disabled people; so, I'm
really sorry, but I'm gonna have to
ask you to step out of the line.
MERCUTIO
I'll stay with you.
Mercutio then wheels Kennedy off.
CUT TO:
EXT. BEACH - NIGHT
Buffy and Giles have now just left the pier and are walking onto
the beach.
BUFFY
So, here we are...
GILES
Indeed, we are... I suppose I should
start this, rather uncomfortable, I
must say, talk, then?
Buffy nods.
GILES (CONT'D)
Well, I'm sorry, like I said before.
It was wrong, I was wrong, and my
apologies are all I can offer to make
it up.
BUFFY
Though, I'm not really the one you
should apologise to.
GILES
I know. And I did. Right before I came
here, I went to LA. I figured without
apologising to Angel, my apologies to
you wouldn't mean a thing.
BUFFY
I know you did; Angel called me.
GILES
I really did what I thought was the
best. I had the best intentions.
(He stops walking and turns
to looking at the ocean.)
We... I thought he had lost it, that
he went evil again. I thought he might
hurt people, might hurt you... Like
her.
(He starts crying.)
BUFFY
(Whispers.)
Jenny.
(She hugs Giles.)
FADE TO:
EXT. PIER - NIGHT
Amy and Willow come walking out of the ride they just went into.
AMY
Hey, where are Dawn and the others; I
thought they said they'd wait?
WILLOW
(Sighs.)
Teenagers. ... C'mon, let's go find
them.
AMY
You know, in this crowd, we'll never
find them; I have a better idea. Why
don't we take the Ferris wheel, from
up there we should be able to spot
them.
Willow looks up to the big Ferris wheel and then smiles and
nods.
CUT TO:
EXT. PIER - NIGHT
The others are walking around on the pier, looking at the
different rides. People are swarming around them. Dawn turns in
surprise to a few kids at the slot machines, which they are
kicking. As they move on, she notices a number of kid
distracting an ice-cream vendor while another nicks some
popsickles. They move on and her eye catches a small boy and a
girl. The boy looks innocently at Dawn, but then he takes a bite
out of his candy bar and she suddenly starts looking mean and
pulls his little sister's hair. Dawn looks at him suspiciously.
CUT TO:
INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE HALL - NIGHT
The hall is dark. The door opens and Xander walks in; he flips a
switch, and Nicole enters too. They both take off their coats.
XANDER
Let me take your coat.
NICOLE
What's that smell?
Xander sniffs the air.
XANDER
On second thought, you take my coat.
He hands her over his coat and then hurridly flies up the
stairs.
FADE TO BLACK.
ACT III
EXT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Nicole enters without the coats. (Presumably, she's hung them
up, but with Xander's date history she might very well be a coat
devouring demon for all we know, but lets not jump to any hasty
conclusions.) As she scouts the room, Xander enters (wearing his
apron.) He walks over to the dinner-table and offers Nicole a
chair. When she is seated, he proceeds by lighting to candles
and then dimming the lights.
XANDER
Before I continue to offer you some
wine; I have an unfortunate
announcement to make... The red
traffic lights on Main Street killed
my vegetables.
Nicole looks confused.
XANDER (CONT'D)
My broccoli has been in the oven a bit
too long I'm afraid.
NICOLE
(Pouts.)
My favourite.
XANDER
But not to worry, the roasted chicken
tastes just fine.
NICOLE
Oh god... Poor Xander.
XANDER
What?
NICOLE
I think I have a rather unfortunate
announcement to make as well... I
kinda am a vegetarian. Sorry!
CUT TO:
EXT. FERRIS WHEEL - NIGHT
At the Ferris Wheel, a few kids are playing around. They sneak
past the security guy. When they get to the engine they pull out
a few cables; the wheel stops and all its lights go out. Then
the kids, laughing, run off.
CUT TO:
EXT. PIER - NIGHT
The Scoobies, walking around, notice how people around them
start turning towards the wheel; so they too watch it and notice
how it has stopped.
LUX
I wonder what's going on there; why it
has stopped.
KARA
I don't know; you think we ought to
check it out Dawn?
DAWN
I suppose there's no harm in that;
Jazz, you stay here with Ken and
Mercutio alright? We'll be right back.
JAZZ
We-...
But they've already left.
CUT TO:
EXT. FERRIS WHEEL - NIGHT
Dawn, Lux, and Kara make their way through the crowd to get to
the front and see what's going on around the Ferris wheel. One
scared mother is complaining to the proprietor of the wheel.
MOTHER
But my son is up there; can't you do
something about it?
PROPRIETOR
Ma'am, there ain't nuthin' you folks
have to worry 'bout. Just a technical
malfuctionin'. My wheel is the safest
wheel there is and your kids are
gon'be jus' fine. Technician is on his
way 'ere 'n he's gonna fix it right
away. Now, you just wait 'ere; I'm
sure he's havin' a wonderful time with
the girl's up there with. Hihi!
The security guy interrupts them; he's caught one of the kids
that sabotaged the wheel.
SECURITY
I caught one of the kids that
sabotaged the wheel, sir.
PROPRIETOR
Well, lookie here.
(He kneels in front of the
kid.)
Are you the one, whose been amessin'
with my wheel?
KID
What if I am.
PROPRIETOR
I tell you what. I'mma be sabotagin'
you, if you don't tell me watcha did
to it.
The kid smirks. Then he gives the guy a headbut and elbows the
security guy in a rather unfortunate spot, which causes the guy
to let him go and the kids runs off quickly. At this, the trio
leaves the crowd.
CUT TO:
EXT. BEHIND ONE OF THE RIDES - NIGHT
The kid comes running from between the rides, when he reaches
the back of them he stops and starts laughing.
DAWN (O.S.)
Something funny?
The kid turns to his left, where Dawn's standing. Then he wants
to turn right, but Lux is waiting for him there. From another
side Kara comes walking toward him.
DAWN (CONT'D)
So, what did you do to the wheel.
KID
Why should I tell you?
LUX
Cause we are kind of anxious to see
how that old guy would sabotage you?
KID
You wouldn't.
KARA
I say we just throw him off the pier
and see if he can float.
DAWN
That sounds good too.
KID
We just pulled a few cables out.
DAWN
Why?
KID
Why not... It's funny, isn't it?
LUX
No, it's not.
(Sighs.)
Kids these days.
The kid gets a candy bar from his pocket, which he has already
half-eaten; he takes another bite.
DAWN
Wait a second; give me that!
KID
No! If you want one, get your own.
LUX
Look, she told you to give it; want us
to throw you off the pier?
DAWN
It's okay... We'll get our own; just
tell us where to get them.
KID
This guy's handing them out at the
very end of the pier. Now, can I go?
DAWN
Alright, get going.
The kid quickly runs away.
DAWN (CONT'D)
We got to find that guy. He's the
source of this problem.
LUX
What problem?
DAWN
I've seen kids cause trouble all over
the place; I think it's because of the
candy bars.
KARA
Candy bars?
DAWN
It's happened before!
CUT TO:
EXT. BEACH - NIGHT
Giles and Buffy are sitting on the beach facing the water.
GILES
It's gotten so complicated, you know.
BUFFY
I know. What I don't get though is
that whole thing in Rome. Angel told
me he and Spike went there and that I
was there too, dating some immortal
something?
GILES
It's a difficult story; he's an ally,
but he has bad rep. We thought it
might motivate Angel to turn back, if
we faked the two of you dating. He
never actually saw you there, we used
a stand-in with a blonde wig... a
rather bad wig, I might add. I came
clean about that too to him. I didn't
tell him about our alliance though and
I would appreciate it if you didn't
either; it's rather controversial.
BUFFY
Sure, but you know that really is the
problem.
GILES
What?
BUFFY
Well, we're all good guys, but we're
too focused on all these internal
politics and too little on the things
that really matter.
GILES
You're right, absolutely right, but
it's not that easy to change. I've
been trying to change the council, but
for something like that to happen, you
can't just snap your fingers and
expect it to be done.
BUFFY
I know. I just sometimes long back to
the simpler days, when I first got to
Sunnydale.
(She puts her head on his
shoulder.)
Just you, me, Xander, and Willow.
Giles puts his arm around her and sighs.
FADE TO BLACK.
ACT IV
INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Nicole is sitting at the dinner table. Xander's walking around
on the phone.
XANDER
I know it's a bit short notice, but I
would like a table for two....
Tonight?... I see... Thanks anyway.
He sighs and looks at Nicole.
XANDER (CONT'D)
No luck either, I'm sorry. I could try
restaurants in towns nearby?
NICOLE
No, that's all right.
She gets up and starts walking toward the door.
XANDER
I kinda blew it, didn't I?
NICOLE
Kinda, yes.
He starts walking to the door too, to let her out.
XANDER
I am really sorry about all this.
NICOLE
I bet you are.
She gives him a single kiss on the lips and after letting go,
she still stands very close to him.
NICOLE (CONT'D)
It's really nice of you to want to
make me a fancy dinner or take me out
to a restaurant, but all girls really
want... Is to have a little fun.
(She takes a step back.)
Now c'mon, take me to the carnival.
You're getting a second chance, I'm
sure you won't let me down.
Xander smiles.
CUT TO:
EXT. PIER - NIGHT
At the end of the pier, somewhere a bit out of sight, the
scruffy looking fellow from before, now dressed up as a clown,
is handing out his candy bars to more children, when the Trio
arrives. The kids and the guy turn to them.
DAWN
Hey boys and girls listen up, we need
to talk to the clown for a second, why
don't you go to your mommies?
LUX
And why don't you give us the candy
bars, cause they're very bad for you.
CLOWN
Hey boys and girls, these girls want
to take away your candy bars, do you
hear that. Now, you don't want them to
take the bars, do you? Know what, if
you capture them and tie them up; I'll
give you more.
All the kids looking mean turn to the Trio and prepare for
attack.
KARA
We can't attack these kids?
LUX
It looks like we don't have much
choice.
DAWN
Unless... You two hold them off.
Dawn runs off, while the children charge. Lux and Kara try to
"fight" them off, without actually fighting and hurting them.
Finally, Dawn comes back, with a can of gas. She pulls some
levers and gas escape from it and she starts aiming at the kids,
who begin to cough and notice that they're voices have changed.
The gas in the can has made their voices high-pitched, which
they find extremely funny, and it's enough distraction for them.
The trio then turns to the Clown, only to find he has grabbed
one of the kids and put a revolver to his head.
He then points the gun at the girls, as he himself backs away to
the end of the pier.
CLOWN
Stay back you, stay back... I'm
warning you!
DAWN
Whoa, let's not do anything rash here.
CLOWN
Shut up! Sh-Shut up!
He puts the gun to the kids head again, but then the kid stamps
on the clown toes very hard and as the Clown lets go to reach
for his hurt toe, the kid makes a run for it. The clown
instantly turns his gun at the kid and fires. However, Lux jumps
to the kid and throws him to the ground, saving the kid's life.
The bullet grazes her arm though.
DAWN
Lux?
Dawn and Kara walk up to her.
KARA
Are you okay?
CLOWN
Hey! I still have plenty of bullets in
here. Get away from her!
Kara and Dawn back off. Behind them a crowd of on-lookers is
gathering, after they heard the shot. From the crowd, a rather
obese man, DANNY, accompanied by the security guy, makes his way
toward the Clown.
DANNY
Steven? What the hell is going on
here?
Steven, the Clown, now aims the gun at Danny.
STEVEN
What? You think you could just fire
me?
DANNY
Ste-, I-...
STEVEN
No, you nothing. We won't have any of
your excuses here today. I could
handle kids you said...
You said I couldn't handle them... I
fig-
(he begins to cry)
I figured I'd see how well my
replacement could deal with them.
DANNY
What are you?
DAWN
The candy... They contain... Something
that makes these kids... Do things, be
wild.
(She turns to Steven.)
Don't they?
DANNY
You think by doing this, you'd
convince me to take you back? You just
fired a gun at a kid!
STEVEN
So? Maybe I should just fire one at
you... Have it done with.
He stretches his arm a little further.
KARA
Don't; it's not worth it!
Steven turns his gun towards Kara.
KID
Mommy!?
A worried mother emerges from the crowd and rushes to her son,
Steven's aim turns to her.
DANNY
Steven! Have you completely lost it...
Put that gun down!
Steven in a fit of rage turns to Danny again, takes a step in
his direction and is about to shoot, but then reconsiders and
takes a step back again.
STEVEN
You're right... I've lost it.
Then he puts the gun under his chin and pulls the trigger.
There's a loud bang, and from then on only silence.
SLOW MOTION COLLAGE.
Danny looks beaten. Dawn shocked, with her hand in front of her
mouth. Kara's cheek swell as she's about to vomit and Lux is
screaming, like the mother of the kid. A mix of disgusted,
scared, and sad emotions are noticeable in the crowd.
LONG SHOT OF THE PIER FROM THE SIDE.
Steven, at the end of the pier, by the recoil is pushed over the
railing of the pier and falls. Finally, his body hits the water.
FADE TO BLACK.

TEASER
INT. COURTROOM - DAY
The courtroom is quite empty. GUNN and XANDER are in the
defendant's bench, NICOLE and MR. FISHER in the other one, and
the JUDGE, of course, is in his counsel.
JUDGE
Given the evidence presented to us by
Mr. Gunn, proving this whole thing was
a scam, I hereby clear the defendant
of all charges. Case closed.
The judge slams with his hammer on his counsel and Gunn and
Xander get up to congratulate each other. Mr. Fisher quickly
gets out of the room, and the judge also makes way to leave.
Then, Nicole walks toward Gunn and Xander.
NICOLE
Well, congratulations!
(She shakes hands with both
Xan and Gunn.)
Nice detective work, by the way.
GUNN
Thank you.
NICOLE
On that note, my apologies; I had no
idea of the faul play involved.
XANDER
That's quite alright.
They now turn to walking out of the room. Gunn in front,
followed by Nicole and Xander next to each other.
XANDER (CONT'D)
Say, now that this whole thing is
over. I was wondering, if maybe you
would perhaps... You know, if it's not
against any kind of etiquette?
Nicole gives him a confused look; then, she smiles.
NICOLE
I leave office at six, so pick me up
at seven.
(She hands him her card.)
My address in on there.
INT. COURT CORRIDOR - DAY (CONT'D)
XANDER
Thanks.
She prepares to walk away, as Xander pauses to stay with Gunn,
who's in the back, getting a coffee.
NICOLE
See you then.
XANDER
Yeah, see you then.
She walks away, but before she leaves, she turns around one more
time.
NICOLE
Oh, and make sure you can actually say
the word "date" by then.
Then she leaves, as Gunn joins Xander again.
GUNN
I heard that.
They start walking to the exit.
XANDER
I have a...
GUNN
C'mon, you can do it.
XANDER
Date.
GUNN
See, it wasn't that hard, now was it?
XANDER
I guess not. Still feels a bit weird.
EXT. COURT PARKING LOT - DAY (CONT'D)
XANDER
My last date was about two years ago
and she turned out to be a demon; they
always do... Well, except for
Cordelia, but hey!
GUNN
Still, it's quite a long time.
XANDER
Yeah well, my ex. I stood her up at
the altar.
GUNN
Ouch.
XANDER
That was about three years ago. I
guess I always felt that it was going
to be okay between us... But then she
had to die. Going out on a date, I
kinda feel like I'm betraying her.
GUNN
(Sighs.)
I can relate. Fred, she died last
year. She'd been the biggest love of
my life, but I don't really feel that
I'm betraying her, although I get what
you mean.
They reach their cars.
XANDER
Well then, our collaboration is over,
it was a pleasure doing business with
you. Send my greetings to the home
front.
GUNN
Will do, the pleasure was mutual.
They shake hands and both walk to their cars and open their
doors.
XANDER
Bye then.
GUNN
Bye... Oh and remember, corny as it
may sound, all she would want is for
you to be happy.
Xander nods. They get in and the cars drive off.
FADE TO BLACK.

INT. PSYCHIATRICAL HOSPITAL OFFICE - DAY
Buffy is working behind the a desk on a PC. We're watching her
from the back. Suddenly, a man in a dark suit moves into the
frame. He clears his throat and at this, Buffy turns around.
BUFFY
Giles?
ANGLE ON: The both of them, from the side.
GILES
I'm sorry.
(A beat.)
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, and I
could and should go on like that, at
least a thousand times.
Another beat, while Buffy stands in doubt. Then Buffy
practically jumps into his arms and hugs him; she starts crying,
as does he.
BUFFY
I'm sooo glad you are.
GILES
So am I.
BUFFY
I missed you.
GILES
So did I, Buffy. So did I.
FADE TO:
INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE - DAY
The trio is home, as well as Jazz. They are hanging around a
bit, looking bored. This is when Xander comes in. He sits down
on the couch, in between Dawn and Kara, with a big smile.
XANDER
Good morning ladies, how are you
today?
KARA
We're good, how about yourself?
DAWN
Yeah, you look happy today; I take it
the trial went well?
XANDER
The trial? Oh yeah, that went quite
well too; yes, indeed it did.
LUX
Are you sure you're okay? You look a
bit... Different?
XANDER
Well, as a matter of fact, one might
say
(He rises proudly.)
I am a different new man standing
before you here today.
DAWN
Okay, this is getting weird. Just,
tell us what's up!?
XANDER
I have a date.
Lux, Kara, and Dawn's eyes all widen, and then they jump up,
screaming.
DAWN
Wow, Xander's I'm so proud of you!
They all hug him.
XANDER
Careful ladies, don't crush me... I
have a date.
They let go, but stare at him in anticipation.
LUX
Well?
A blank stare.
KARA
What are you going to do?
XANDER
I hadn't really thought it through
that much...
DAWN
Oh my god, how can you not?
KARA
It *is* the hardest part of a date.
XANDER
Really? Bummer, and here I was letting
go of all stress after hearing her
agree.
LUX
You're a pretty good cook! Fix her a
dinner; she'll love it.
Kara and Dawn nod agreeingly. Then, Buffy enters... with Giles.
BUFFY
Hi, guys.
GILES
Take a look at who the Slayer dragged
in, huh?
There's a moment of silence.
GILES (CONT'D)
I know it's been a long time... Too
long. We didn't part in particularly
friendly ways last time, and I
should've been here much earlier to
apologise.
DAWN
(To Buffy.)
Does this mean we can hug now?
Buffy nods and smiles, as Dawn jumps into Giles' arms. When she
lets go, Xander takes over.
FADE TO:
INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE - DAY
Lux, Kara, Dawn, Buffy, and Giles are at the dining table.
Xander comes in with Tea.
XANDER
There you go... One cup of old
fashioned English Tea for the right
honourable English gentleman.
GILES
(Hesistantly.)
Lovely...
(He sips it, then looks
pleasantly surprised.)
Lovely, indeed!
Xander continues to hand out cups of Tea to the others.
DAWN
So, how long are you staying? *Where*
are you staying?
GILES
As long as I need to, and at the
motel. You know on my way from the
airport, when I drove into town... I
saw this girl, and there was such a
remarkable likeness that I could swear
it was-
BUFFY, XANDER AND DAWN
(Simultaneously.)
...Amy.
GILES
Well, I was going suggest a Volkahr
demon, but now that you mention it.
XANDER
You're a bit behind on the news,
aren't you?
GILES
How is that?
XANDER
Well, she's more or less one of us
now.
GILES
I'm terribly sorry, my staff forwards
most the news regarding you guys, but
I do occasionally miss a memo, when
I'm on trips like this one.
DAWN
Memo-forwarding staff, now there's
something for my Christmas wish-list.
What else is new in England?
GILES
Nothing too interesting, I'm afraid. I
fought a major battle just last week
and scored another victory over
bureaucracy. But how about here, any
other memo's I missed?
BUFFY
We cured all Slayers in the world from
their berserk state.
GILES
I noticed that one.
BUFFY
I s'pose you know about Kennedy?
GILES
Yes... It's quite tragic. If there's
anything...
BUFFY
And we might just have another
apocalypse on our hands. Seraph
thingy... And some ancient African
demon on the hunt for it.
GILES
I know all about that one.
BUFFY
Then I suppose you're about up-to
date.
DAWN
Not entirely!
BUFFY
How's that?
The Trio turns to Xander, at their lead, so do Buffy and Giles.
XANDER
I've got a date.
GILES
Well, my congratulations.
BUFFY
Wow, Xander, good for you... with that
lawyer, Nicole?
XANDER
Yes, indeed. In fact, I was thinking,
it might be a good idea to invite her
over and have a small intimate dinner
right here.
BUFFY
Sounds very good.
XANDER
That would mean however, that I'd
require some... Privacy?
BUFFY
Sounds even better!
XANDER
Not that kind... although, that would
be nice too.
BUFFY
What you really mean to say is... get
out of here!?!
(She turns to Giles.)
What do you say, we go somewhere more
private...
(she glances at Xander,
jokingly)
To talk.
GILES
That would be wonderful.
Xander turns to the Trio.
LUX
We'll be gone too, don't worry.
DAWN
Why don't we all go to the Carnival.
Could be nice for Giles and Jazz.
We'll ask Amy, Ken, Will, Mercutio?
(She turns to Buffy.)
If you guys want you can just stroll
onto the beach whenever you want to
talk.
BUFFY
I guess-
XANDER
...Great, I don't expect any of you
back before midnight.
FADE TO BLACK.
ACT II
EXT. EDMONSVILLE PIER - NIGHT
Amy, Willow, Kennedy and Mercutio have already gathered near the
entrance to the Carnival, when the Trio, Jazz, Buffy, and Giles
arrive. The others are obviously surprised to see Giles there,
but Willow seeing as how Buffy is being friendly to Giles,
understands their problems are at least partially dealt with and
on this runs towards Giles to hug him. The others gather around
them.
WILLOW
(Softly.)
I've missed you.
She lets go.
BUFFY
Giles, let me introduce you.
(Pointing at Mercutio.)
This is my friend, Mercutio.
(Turns to Jazz.)
This is Dawn's foreign exchange
student, Jazz...
Or actually it's jasp-something, but
we can't pronounce it properly....
Well then, Mercutio, Jazz... This is
Giles, my erm... librarian.
Jazz looks a bit puzzled, but Mercutio gets who she means; they
shake hands. The groups starts moving onto the pier.
CUT TO:
INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE KITCHEN - NIGHT
Xander is working hard to fix a fancy dinner. The whole kitchen
is a big mess. He's putting the finishing touch on a oven-dish,
with chicken. Then he puts it in the oven and puts a timer on.
Then he leaves.
CUT TO:
EXT. NICOLE'S APARTMENT BLOCK - NIGHT
Xander, nicely dressed, rings the bell. After a while, Nicole
opens, she too is very nicely dressed, and looks stunning.
XANDER
Wow... erm, I mean... Hi, erm.
NICOLE
Good evening... and thanks; you look
good too! So, erm where are we going?
They start walking toward the car.
XANDER
To my house; some of my female friends
convinced me a home-cooked meal would
be the way to go.
They get in.
CUT TO:
INT. XANDER'S CAR - NIGHT (CONT'D)
NICOLE
Really? You can cook?
XANDER
Somehow, everyone is always surprised,
when I tell them that. Yes, I can
cook. Through necessity I've learned
it; you see, my two housemates are
really bad at it, or rather too lazy,
and we all still have to eat...
NICOLE
So, you volunteered. That's.. Sweet, I
guess... But, by god, I hope that's
not what you put in your personal ads.
XANDER
I'd probably write 24 year old male
construction worker with an eye-patch
seeks female knight in shining white
car to save him from two monstrous
housemates.
NICOLE
I don't think that'd work.
XANDER
What would you say, if you had to
write one for me then?
NICOLE
I'd just leave a few words out... End
up with something like... Male...
Seeks female?
XANDER
Nice, that's real nice.
They laugh.
XANDER (CONT'D)
... So, could you maybe write that
down?
Nicole bursts into laughter.
FADE TO:
EXT. EDMONSVILLE PIER - NIGHT
A middle-aged, somewhat scruffy looking man, who has, other then
being on this show, no reason whatsoever to rouse our
suspicions, parks his van behind one of the rides. He gets out
of it and walks up to the boot, which he opens. In it are carbon
boxes, one of which he opens. He grabs into it and takes out a
few candy bars. As he grins eerily the camera pulls up to his
face and we can see the wrapper of the candy bar, which we
recognise from bad candy. (See Buffy 3.06 "Bad Candy")
CUT TO:
EXT. EDMONSVILLE PIER - NIGHT
The gang strolls over the pier towards one of the rides, as they
reach it all get into the lines, except Buffy and Giles.
BUFFY
Guys, I think me and Giles will go for
a stroll; we've got some things to
discuss still.
The others nod understandingly, and Buffy and Giles walk off. As
they do, a man from the carnival walks up to Kennedy.
SECURITY GUY
I'm sorry ma'am, but this ride is not
accessible to disabled people; so, I'm
really sorry, but I'm gonna have to
ask you to step out of the line.
MERCUTIO
I'll stay with you.
Mercutio then wheels Kennedy off.
CUT TO:
EXT. BEACH - NIGHT
Buffy and Giles have now just left the pier and are walking onto
the beach.
BUFFY
So, here we are...
GILES
Indeed, we are... I suppose I should
start this, rather uncomfortable, I
must say, talk, then?
Buffy nods.
GILES (CONT'D)
Well, I'm sorry, like I said before.
It was wrong, I was wrong, and my
apologies are all I can offer to make
it up.
BUFFY
Though, I'm not really the one you
should apologise to.
GILES
I know. And I did. Right before I came
here, I went to LA. I figured without
apologising to Angel, my apologies to
you wouldn't mean a thing.
BUFFY
I know you did; Angel called me.
GILES
I really did what I thought was the
best. I had the best intentions.
(He stops walking and turns
to looking at the ocean.)
We... I thought he had lost it, that
he went evil again. I thought he might
hurt people, might hurt you... Like
her.
(He starts crying.)
BUFFY
(Whispers.)
Jenny.
(She hugs Giles.)
FADE TO:
EXT. PIER - NIGHT
Amy and Willow come walking out of the ride they just went into.
AMY
Hey, where are Dawn and the others; I
thought they said they'd wait?
WILLOW
(Sighs.)
Teenagers. ... C'mon, let's go find
them.
AMY
You know, in this crowd, we'll never
find them; I have a better idea. Why
don't we take the Ferris wheel, from
up there we should be able to spot
them.
Willow looks up to the big Ferris wheel and then smiles and
nods.
CUT TO:
EXT. PIER - NIGHT
The others are walking around on the pier, looking at the
different rides. People are swarming around them. Dawn turns in
surprise to a few kids at the slot machines, which they are
kicking. As they move on, she notices a number of kid
distracting an ice-cream vendor while another nicks some
popsickles. They move on and her eye catches a small boy and a
girl. The boy looks innocently at Dawn, but then he takes a bite
out of his candy bar and she suddenly starts looking mean and
pulls his little sister's hair. Dawn looks at him suspiciously.
CUT TO:
INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE HALL - NIGHT
The hall is dark. The door opens and Xander walks in; he flips a
switch, and Nicole enters too. They both take off their coats.
XANDER
Let me take your coat.
NICOLE
What's that smell?
Xander sniffs the air.
XANDER
On second thought, you take my coat.
He hands her over his coat and then hurridly flies up the
stairs.
FADE TO BLACK.
ACT III
EXT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Nicole enters without the coats. (Presumably, she's hung them
up, but with Xander's date history she might very well be a coat
devouring demon for all we know, but lets not jump to any hasty
conclusions.) As she scouts the room, Xander enters (wearing his
apron.) He walks over to the dinner-table and offers Nicole a
chair. When she is seated, he proceeds by lighting to candles
and then dimming the lights.
XANDER
Before I continue to offer you some
wine; I have an unfortunate
announcement to make... The red
traffic lights on Main Street killed
my vegetables.
Nicole looks confused.
XANDER (CONT'D)
My broccoli has been in the oven a bit
too long I'm afraid.
NICOLE
(Pouts.)
My favourite.
XANDER
But not to worry, the roasted chicken
tastes just fine.
NICOLE
Oh god... Poor Xander.
XANDER
What?
NICOLE
I think I have a rather unfortunate
announcement to make as well... I
kinda am a vegetarian. Sorry!
CUT TO:
EXT. FERRIS WHEEL - NIGHT
At the Ferris Wheel, a few kids are playing around. They sneak
past the security guy. When they get to the engine they pull out
a few cables; the wheel stops and all its lights go out. Then
the kids, laughing, run off.
CUT TO:
EXT. PIER - NIGHT
The Scoobies, walking around, notice how people around them
start turning towards the wheel; so they too watch it and notice
how it has stopped.
LUX
I wonder what's going on there; why it
has stopped.
KARA
I don't know; you think we ought to
check it out Dawn?
DAWN
I suppose there's no harm in that;
Jazz, you stay here with Ken and
Mercutio alright? We'll be right back.
JAZZ
We-...
But they've already left.
CUT TO:
EXT. FERRIS WHEEL - NIGHT
Dawn, Lux, and Kara make their way through the crowd to get to
the front and see what's going on around the Ferris wheel. One
scared mother is complaining to the proprietor of the wheel.
MOTHER
But my son is up there; can't you do
something about it?
PROPRIETOR
Ma'am, there ain't nuthin' you folks
have to worry 'bout. Just a technical
malfuctionin'. My wheel is the safest
wheel there is and your kids are
gon'be jus' fine. Technician is on his
way 'ere 'n he's gonna fix it right
away. Now, you just wait 'ere; I'm
sure he's havin' a wonderful time with
the girl's up there with. Hihi!
The security guy interrupts them; he's caught one of the kids
that sabotaged the wheel.
SECURITY
I caught one of the kids that
sabotaged the wheel, sir.
PROPRIETOR
Well, lookie here.
(He kneels in front of the
kid.)
Are you the one, whose been amessin'
with my wheel?
KID
What if I am.
PROPRIETOR
I tell you what. I'mma be sabotagin'
you, if you don't tell me watcha did
to it.
The kid smirks. Then he gives the guy a headbut and elbows the
security guy in a rather unfortunate spot, which causes the guy
to let him go and the kids runs off quickly. At this, the trio
leaves the crowd.
CUT TO:
EXT. BEHIND ONE OF THE RIDES - NIGHT
The kid comes running from between the rides, when he reaches
the back of them he stops and starts laughing.
DAWN (O.S.)
Something funny?
The kid turns to his left, where Dawn's standing. Then he wants
to turn right, but Lux is waiting for him there. From another
side Kara comes walking toward him.
DAWN (CONT'D)
So, what did you do to the wheel.
KID
Why should I tell you?
LUX
Cause we are kind of anxious to see
how that old guy would sabotage you?
KID
You wouldn't.
KARA
I say we just throw him off the pier
and see if he can float.
DAWN
That sounds good too.
KID
We just pulled a few cables out.
DAWN
Why?
KID
Why not... It's funny, isn't it?
LUX
No, it's not.
(Sighs.)
Kids these days.
The kid gets a candy bar from his pocket, which he has already
half-eaten; he takes another bite.
DAWN
Wait a second; give me that!
KID
No! If you want one, get your own.
LUX
Look, she told you to give it; want us
to throw you off the pier?
DAWN
It's okay... We'll get our own; just
tell us where to get them.
KID
This guy's handing them out at the
very end of the pier. Now, can I go?
DAWN
Alright, get going.
The kid quickly runs away.
DAWN (CONT'D)
We got to find that guy. He's the
source of this problem.
LUX
What problem?
DAWN
I've seen kids cause trouble all over
the place; I think it's because of the
candy bars.
KARA
Candy bars?
DAWN
It's happened before!
CUT TO:
EXT. BEACH - NIGHT
Giles and Buffy are sitting on the beach facing the water.
GILES
It's gotten so complicated, you know.
BUFFY
I know. What I don't get though is
that whole thing in Rome. Angel told
me he and Spike went there and that I
was there too, dating some immortal
something?
GILES
It's a difficult story; he's an ally,
but he has bad rep. We thought it
might motivate Angel to turn back, if
we faked the two of you dating. He
never actually saw you there, we used
a stand-in with a blonde wig... a
rather bad wig, I might add. I came
clean about that too to him. I didn't
tell him about our alliance though and
I would appreciate it if you didn't
either; it's rather controversial.
BUFFY
Sure, but you know that really is the
problem.
GILES
What?
BUFFY
Well, we're all good guys, but we're
too focused on all these internal
politics and too little on the things
that really matter.
GILES
You're right, absolutely right, but
it's not that easy to change. I've
been trying to change the council, but
for something like that to happen, you
can't just snap your fingers and
expect it to be done.
BUFFY
I know. I just sometimes long back to
the simpler days, when I first got to
Sunnydale.
(She puts her head on his
shoulder.)
Just you, me, Xander, and Willow.
Giles puts his arm around her and sighs.
FADE TO BLACK.
ACT IV
INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Nicole is sitting at the dinner table. Xander's walking around
on the phone.
XANDER
I know it's a bit short notice, but I
would like a table for two....
Tonight?... I see... Thanks anyway.
He sighs and looks at Nicole.
XANDER (CONT'D)
No luck either, I'm sorry. I could try
restaurants in towns nearby?
NICOLE
No, that's all right.
She gets up and starts walking toward the door.
XANDER
I kinda blew it, didn't I?
NICOLE
Kinda, yes.
He starts walking to the door too, to let her out.
XANDER
I am really sorry about all this.
NICOLE
I bet you are.
She gives him a single kiss on the lips and after letting go,
she still stands very close to him.
NICOLE (CONT'D)
It's really nice of you to want to
make me a fancy dinner or take me out
to a restaurant, but all girls really
want... Is to have a little fun.
(She takes a step back.)
Now c'mon, take me to the carnival.
You're getting a second chance, I'm
sure you won't let me down.
Xander smiles.
CUT TO:
EXT. PIER - NIGHT
At the end of the pier, somewhere a bit out of sight, the
scruffy looking fellow from before, now dressed up as a clown,
is handing out his candy bars to more children, when the Trio
arrives. The kids and the guy turn to them.
DAWN
Hey boys and girls listen up, we need
to talk to the clown for a second, why
don't you go to your mommies?
LUX
And why don't you give us the candy
bars, cause they're very bad for you.
CLOWN
Hey boys and girls, these girls want
to take away your candy bars, do you
hear that. Now, you don't want them to
take the bars, do you? Know what, if
you capture them and tie them up; I'll
give you more.
All the kids looking mean turn to the Trio and prepare for
attack.
KARA
We can't attack these kids?
LUX
It looks like we don't have much
choice.
DAWN
Unless... You two hold them off.
Dawn runs off, while the children charge. Lux and Kara try to
"fight" them off, without actually fighting and hurting them.
Finally, Dawn comes back, with a can of gas. She pulls some
levers and gas escape from it and she starts aiming at the kids,
who begin to cough and notice that they're voices have changed.
The gas in the can has made their voices high-pitched, which
they find extremely funny, and it's enough distraction for them.
The trio then turns to the Clown, only to find he has grabbed
one of the kids and put a revolver to his head.
He then points the gun at the girls, as he himself backs away to
the end of the pier.
CLOWN
Stay back you, stay back... I'm
warning you!
DAWN
Whoa, let's not do anything rash here.
CLOWN
Shut up! Sh-Shut up!
He puts the gun to the kids head again, but then the kid stamps
on the clown toes very hard and as the Clown lets go to reach
for his hurt toe, the kid makes a run for it. The clown
instantly turns his gun at the kid and fires. However, Lux jumps
to the kid and throws him to the ground, saving the kid's life.
The bullet grazes her arm though.
DAWN
Lux?
Dawn and Kara walk up to her.
KARA
Are you okay?
CLOWN
Hey! I still have plenty of bullets in
here. Get away from her!
Kara and Dawn back off. Behind them a crowd of on-lookers is
gathering, after they heard the shot. From the crowd, a rather
obese man, DANNY, accompanied by the security guy, makes his way
toward the Clown.
DANNY
Steven? What the hell is going on
here?
Steven, the Clown, now aims the gun at Danny.
STEVEN
What? You think you could just fire
me?
DANNY
Ste-, I-...
STEVEN
No, you nothing. We won't have any of
your excuses here today. I could
handle kids you said...
You said I couldn't handle them... I
fig-
(he begins to cry)
I figured I'd see how well my
replacement could deal with them.
DANNY
What are you?
DAWN
The candy... They contain... Something
that makes these kids... Do things, be
wild.
(She turns to Steven.)
Don't they?
DANNY
You think by doing this, you'd
convince me to take you back? You just
fired a gun at a kid!
STEVEN
So? Maybe I should just fire one at
you... Have it done with.
He stretches his arm a little further.
KARA
Don't; it's not worth it!
Steven turns his gun towards Kara.
KID
Mommy!?
A worried mother emerges from the crowd and rushes to her son,
Steven's aim turns to her.
DANNY
Steven! Have you completely lost it...
Put that gun down!
Steven in a fit of rage turns to Danny again, takes a step in
his direction and is about to shoot, but then reconsiders and
takes a step back again.
STEVEN
You're right... I've lost it.
Then he puts the gun under his chin and pulls the trigger.
There's a loud bang, and from then on only silence.
SLOW MOTION COLLAGE.
Danny looks beaten. Dawn shocked, with her hand in front of her
mouth. Kara's cheek swell as she's about to vomit and Lux is
screaming, like the mother of the kid. A mix of disgusted,
scared, and sad emotions are noticeable in the crowd.

Steven, at the end of the pier, by the recoil is pushed over the
railing of the pier and falls. Finally, his body hits the water.
