Have you ever done these?

As a group therapy regular, we had to do these ALL.THE.TIME. I have a box of them, and most of what I have put on those boards has come to pass. It is really bizarre how closely my life had followed what I documented.

I don't think I ever did them correctly, as in, I documented what I could see in my future rather than what I wanted from the future. One of the photos I picked as a home was near on exactly the same place as my ex chose for us (I never saw it until the day we moved in), and I hated it there. I didn't choose that, but I saw it and documented it on the board. It was freaky to find that board again years after its creation - almost 2 years after I had lived in that awful place.

So now I am wondering if it is time to re-visit this exercise. But instead of putting what I see - I put what I WANT on it. I wonder how it will turn out. The hardest bit will be figuring out what I want!

What do you reckon? Got any insights into these sorts of thing? Has a vision board ever worked for what you want or have you noticed it has just been what you have seen? Would you join me in doing one? No need to post it, unless you want to.

If you don't believe and think its all crap and feel the need to post that, I'll know who to block 😛 This is a vulnerable post for me. I am looking to those who are open to other sides of life.

Just to see if I understand you correctly: A vision board is where we choose a set of pictures relating to how we want the future to play out? Rather like a mood board for interior designers and such, it it's for our personal life?

Yes :)
I did something similar once and almost died as a result. But I got want I wanted. Except for the almost dying part but...

Right. I made one once, forgot about it and then felt bad for not having worked harder at getting what I wanted when I found it again. The bottom line is that I made myself feel worse. I'm not sure that's how it is supposed to be done.

Pretty sure it made most who did it in therapy feel worse too, for the same reasons. I never made mine out to be what I wanted as much as what I knew would be. I hope this one will be different in being a bit more dreamy and authentic to me. Something to reach for instead of being dragged along the bottom of the river of life. I know a lot of the people I did group with are still locked in that system, living to the design of it.

I have started mine, the bunnies wanted to help by sitting on it. I accidentally sticky taped Anyas whisker and then spent half an hour cuddling up to her in comfort. Poor bunny. She later ate the photo of a forest home over looking a lake.

I am always more attracted to words as the photos I find never seem quite right. I am starting to wonder if I should switch to drawing instead. I never like the font of the words I find either. But something to inspire at least.

I found a box of my stepsisters magazines to use. One from 1999 with a Buffy article in it. Strange co-incidence.

How did you nearly die @Spanky? Did you envision base jumping or something?

LOL. No. No base jumping or anything.
I've made a couple in the past during high school. For the most part I always got caught up with the things I was supposed to want in the future, or pretty things in magazines, rather than really putting much thought into what I actually wanted in the future....so I never really got much out of them. I wonder what it would be like to make one today as an adult.

I'm not sure what this is, though it reminds me of some experiments in Quantum Psychology by Robert Anton Wilson. (The experiment worked amazingly well the first time that made me think magic was more than just psyching one's self up, but it only worked that once. I've come up with a reason why subsequent events didn't work, but that's another topic.)

For what it's worth, one guy told me of his working with a hoodoo marker of some kind. He'd made friends with a guy whose grandmother gave him one (not something sold to the tourists) and whatever you wrote with it was supposed to come true. He thought WTH and tried it (no harm in that, he thought, and he was bored) and wrote a pic that was supposed to be him holding a suitcase with money poking out. Much to his surprise, a few months later he got a short term but lucrative job and used that to escape the city he was in, taking a suitcase...in which articles of clothing were sticking out. He did have a lot of money though, but not what he expected, but that actually relieved him, because thinking that he actually had a suitcase full of cash probably meant he was in for a short, miserable life given wherever he got it from with possibly people on both sides of the law looking for it. He thought that in the future he'd be very careful with something like that and keep it small.

In your case (with that hoodoo marker) he might draw a house and mark it "my home" while also drawing himself happy there.

A Wiccan witch I knew had an interesting problem. Money spells worked for her, but something would always sabotage it. For example, she might get $200 from an unexpected source only to then have to pay about that exact amount to have her pet sewed back together (after mauled by a dog). She finally tried to pour her "poverty mindset" into something that she then burned (I forget the details) before doing it again, and that time she got a retroactive raise and was able to keep it.

As for me (and with the above in mind) I suppose if I did a vision board, I'd use a comforting symbol with a pic (though I'd feel better with drawing as in "drawing it to me"), and do it while the moon waxes. When the moon wanes I'd do something about what I fear (for me that would be putting stuff, maybe including pix and drawings, into a poppet I sewed up myself) to take all the negative energy out of my life now AND from the vision board and then burn it, saying that as the moon vanishes, so does the evil in my life and the vision board, never to return.

Anyway, just some ideas for your own personal inspiration. 🙂

I haven't used a board per se, but vsualisation definitely, definitely works. If you can picture it, (and firmly believe that it will happen) it can happen. And I'm speaking from experience; especially in regards to all the positive things that began nearly two weeks ago.

I am so happy to hear of the positive things :)

Visualisation may be a better way for me personally, I think I could connect more with that than a board in front of me. I can get to some pretty far out places in meditation so bringing that back down to earth and within the realm of reality might be just what I need 🙂 Thanks!

The bottom line is that I made myself feel worse. I'm not sure that's how it is supposed to be done.

Try this: take some time each day (30 minutes or more) to be alone...without any interruptions. Get comfortable, clear your mind, and relax. Close your eyes and picture what you want in your life. Hold that image in your mind for awhile...think of nothing else. Now, see your goal actually happening; see and feel it. Dismiss any doubts you may have. In fact, convince yourself that it's already happened. Amazing things can occur when you focus your mind.

I don't think this is going so well. All I want is a horse 😂

Our psychic link must be broken. I don't want a spotty one!

I did a bit of visualisation meditation today. Honestly the stuff I want now is the stuff I have wanted/chased my whole life. I got close, but then lost it and don't have the spiritual energy to go through all of those steps again to miss the mark. Looking back on the vision boards I did before, they weren't ever what I wanted but were what was expected, not just from within me. I am so, so glad I escaped that place.

Turns out, My dreams haven't changed at all - I just cant figure out how to get there!
