Vote for or Against Buffy Boards Members Awards?

The Male Slayer recently posted a suggestion for Buffy-Boards to have members awards. I took his suggestion and elaborated on it and the rest of the staff and myself have discussed the idea and we are still undecided as to whether or not this would be a good idea or a bad one.

The idea would be along the lines of monthly awards for different categories and the members would submit their votes to one member of staff secretly - so no-one else would know who had voted for who.

Categories would be, and these are purely for example and would not necessarliy be definite, things like 'Most Helpful Member', 'Funniest Member', 'Best Post of the Week' or any other categories that you may think of.

The reason we're putting it to you to vote on, is that there is some concern that this would become nothing more than a popularity contest amongst members, and that at the end of the day some people are going to feel left out and unhappy if they don't get nominated for an award.

Also, none of the staff would be eligible for an awards, so it would purely be a member thing.

I thought if I put up a poll you could all give your thoughts on the idea, and we will go with whatever the majority decides - although it would have to be a clear majority not just one or two votes difference.😉 Plus, *if* it were to go ahead, then it would be done on a trial basis to see how things go.

So, please vote YAY or NAY and voice your thoughts on it.🙂

I think its a good idea, I can clearly see the concern regarding this becoming a popularity contest as it is possible that the same member could win week after week. I say go ahead and try it, worse that could happen is that it doesnt work and we stop doing it.

We could make it so that once a member has won an award that they are not elgible for the next lot of awards? That way it would be less likely that the same members would keep winning.

I would imagine with one person organising it this would be fairly easy to do and keep track of - like a post could be put up listing previous winners not eligible for the next awards - and just update it each month.

Just an idea as regards to that.😉

I think that would make it more fair and lessen the chance that someon would get offended.

The Male Slayer no need to apologize the idea is a good one and thats what the poll is for to see how people feel, I dont think anyone is mad at you for a suggestion.

Don't feel bad about putting forward this idea TMS - it is a fun idea and no-one hates you for suggesting it.🙂

Like dr Morgus said, this was the best way to judge how everyone feels about the idea. 🙂 So far there are mostly positive comments anyways.😉

i think it's a good idea, i mean there are loads of members so everyone ahs the chance to win.

But you can't have a sexiest member award because if i win every time it won't be fair on the others

I voted other, as I simply don't know what the best idea is, off course it's fun. But it is a popularity contest and those can always make a lot of tension between members, so I just don't know.

it sounds good, but I think too many people would end up getting offensive or upset over the results.
