So, today was late-start Wednesday, which is where we start school an hour later, and I'll start off by saying today I got my BRACES OFF!! Whoop yeah! Well, anyways, we get in Second Block, and for the first 10 minutes, we have our TV news program. I swear not a minute after it went off, the fire alarm goes off. I'm in spanish, and Ms. Russell is all "It's probably nothing, don't worry about it." It's safe to say it WASN'T nothing.
It must have been 15 minutes after standing outside that I find out from one of my friends there was a fire in one of the science labs. It wasn't big, but it was WAY smokey. So, we stand outside for around 30 more minutes before we are moved to the gym. Meanwhile, the police and fire department arrive on the scene. Most of us are just joking around, and nobody's worried. So after being in the gym for around 15 minutes (around 12:00) we are dismissed by the principal.
Well, it's not too long later that I realize my keys are in the classroom, along with my cell phone (because I had left my bookbag in there, and I really don't feel like carrying around my cell and keys..). So, I tell my friend/teacher, Ms. Goings, that everything is in my classroom. Now, I ride the bus, and the buses were there, but I didn't have my keys. So she's like "I'll just take you home."
But I have to go to a tux place with my friend Rico because Mr. Eagle is Saturday (a school pageant for the guys) and he didn't have a tux. After waiting on his measurements for around 30 minutes, we get back to the school, and ride home with Ms. Goings.
On the way home, she tells us what happened. Apparently, there was a class in the lab in first block. I don't know how, but between first and second block, the fire began in the TRASHCAN of all places. Crazy right? Well, Ms. Nix sends her TA down to the lab to set up for her class, and she comes running back in screaming "THERE'S A FIRE IN THE LAB!" And so Ms. Nix pulled the alarm, and everything began. lol.
Well, I told you about my friend Rico, right? He SAW the fire before anyone, and runs down the 100 hall screaming "FIRE! FIRE!", passing EVERY fire alarm along the way. Smart, right? Well, I guess none of the teachers heard him, because nothing happened until the fire alarm was pulled.
So that was my Wacky Wednesday. Kinda tragic in a way...

"January 10, 2007 - Students were dismissed from Airport High School several hours early Wednesday after a small fire broke out in a chemical lab.
No one was hurt in the fire, which started shortly after 11am and was quickly extinguished.
Anne Rickard with the Lexington District Two office says the school's 1,300 students were dismissed for the rest of the day as a precaution.
Rickard says there was some smoke and odor in areas of the school.
Students with vehicles at school were allowed to leave immediately. Others were sent to the gymnasium until buses arrived or until they could be picked up.
A press release from the school district says it appears the fire started in a trash can, and that no chemicals were involved.
No students or teachers were in the lab when the fire was reported.
The science lab sustained some smoke damage, which will require the room to be cleaned and painted. No equipment was damaged and damage from the fire was limited to a ceiling tile and a portion of a cabinet.
Rickard says classes are expected to resume Thursday."
