Was a Part of Fred Still Left?

Strictly speaking, the only absolute canon conclusion we can come to is that the bad guys all claimed that Fred's soul was destroyed. I'd say that there was enough evidence to oppose their claims, given just how much of Fred was now in Illyria.

The events of The Girl In Question made it obvious to me that we were dealing with much more than a few sparks of random memory inside Illyria's mind. She was able to mimic her entirely accurately, to the point where even Fred's parents were fooled. Even her attachment to Wes was far from what you would expect of a once powerful demon god. If all that was inside Illyria was memory than where did the emotion come from as she watched Wes die?

It would have been nice (obviously) to have had it all play out in season six as was intended but the knowledge of what was supposed to come added to all the clues that we were given in the latter part of season five is more than enough to convince me to not take the word of Knox and Doc Sparrow.

Yes but you also have to remember that it's memory that makes us what we are. If humans had the memory of a goldfish which is three seconds we would virtually be nothing. I mean how a human learns and grows and matures is through life experiences and of courses remembering those experiencing and how it felt to experience them, so the same for Illyria she had Fred's full memories so essentially even without a soul she's still Fred, because what are we but our memories. I mean look at vampires, they don't have their human soul but their human life still affects them, like really first thing Liam did when he became Angelus was to kill his father because of how he treated him when he was alive, and he had no soul influence from Liam, same with Spike when he turned his mother into a vampire. William's soul wasn't influencing him to do that, but William's memories were. I mean even look at Drusilla. It was Drusilla that was driven mad, not the vampire however when she was vamped and her soul disappeared from her human body she was still mad, because the memories were still there.

I'm not really sure how much of Fred is left , I'm thinking alot of her old memories are there, and Illyra at any time can bring them forded . If you remember Wes did not want to see Illyra as Fred except that one last time while he's dying. When Fred's parents came Illyra thought it was ok to lie to them. That's why Illyra asked Wes as he was dying if he would like Illyra to lie to him, that's why Illyra went from her to Fred. So the last thing Wes saw as he was dying was the love of his life Fred.

I think Ilyria might had feeling for Wes because of Fred's memories and because of the way he treated her.
