Amy seemed to know Rack before season 6 when Rack knew that Amy was a rat for the last couple of years.

So in "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" and before the episode was Amy seeing Rack for magic trips and getting more magic skills?

I never really got that, where magic comes from all of the sudden.
Like, as well Willow starting to do spells, and Giles trying some. So is everyone just able to perform magic, and as it gets more advanced you just need more skill? Or do they need to get their magic from somewhere? We do know that both Amy's and Tara's mothers were witches, but then I'm not sure why Willow could all of a sudden become a witch.

As for Rack, he seems to treat magic a lot like drugs. I've been thinking, maybe that's why Amy turned into a rat in the first place. Clearly, she performed some magic that was too powerful for her. So yea, maybe she was used to get his boosts, and with the trippy properties it had, overestimated what she was really capable of.

Giles got his magc in season 6 finale from a coven in England to stop Willow or try to

This is how I gathered it:

A lot of magic spells can be performed by anybody, but most people aren't very good at them. You need to have natural power to really advance in magic (like everybody can paint but only people with a natural ability can paint really well).

It is, however, possible to "borrow" magic - i.e. somebody with a lot of power gives you some of that power. This is what Rack does - he has HEEEEEEAPS of power and he deals it, like drugs. Giles also got borrowed power from a coven in England. Giles does have a limited magic ability, but nowhere near enough to tackle Willow, hence the borrowed magics.

Anya, in her original human form, had power. This is how she could do spells such as transform Olaf into a troll. It is unclear whether she has much power in her new human form, but since we rarely see her doing magic, we can assume not. In fact I remember a scene (in Triangle, I think) when she tells Willow that she doesn't have that kind of power any more.

I agree with this aaand your username is great haha
Was Amy seeing Rack way back when? Yes I think there is a connection there thats just IMO

I just assumed Rack knew Amy was a rat because he was somewhat psychic or can sense wiccan energy/magicks if that makes sense. Just like when Warren went to him for help, he knew he was being targeted and knew who was the one coming after him.

Unless Amy went to him after she became human and told him she was a rat?

I do believe that she did go to Rack prior her being a rat. She seemed to gain a lot of power very quickly. She also seemed to know what to do with some pretty heavy spells. Like conjuring. Willow hadn't even mastered that at that time. And the effects of her power, idk seemed evil to me. Just like her moms.

And how would Amy know about Rack if she was a rat for all that time?
