<marquee>Buffy & Angel</marquee>

Buffy:''I can't watch you die again''
Angel:''I love you''
Buffy:''I love you''
Angel:''Nothing can change that. Not even death''
Buffy:''Don't talk to me like that. You may be ready to go but I am not ready to loose you''

As Jane Austen wrote ( I think)..."There are as many forms of love, as there are moments in time...."

i knew about this thread,...the question is diferent, she can love spike without being in love with him

It IS a very thin line and people automatically assume when you say love that you probably mean the same as in love...if you read the whole thing, merged and all, it's the same points and posts. We are just rehashing the same thing over and over. In fact it's been the same basic thing in about 5 different threads...and they always cause fights. No use in spliting hairs. It's always the same...

Buffy loved Angel in the end. She did not love Spike, but she had great affection for him.

She truly cared for Spike and loved his unconditional affection for her, but she never loved him.

She loves Angel. Always has and always will. Or rather, what my sig says.

When Spike and Buffy are around each other, there's still that tension that was the aftermath of S6. They don't kiss, just talk. When Buffy and Angel are around each other, there's the tension of old longing. They can hardly keep their hands off each other!

yep,true...for instance''forever''ANGEL: I can stay in town as long as you want me.
BUFFY: How's forever? Does forever work for you? *kiss* *kiss*

i dont think she ever really loved him, maybe there was a spark but no love

I think she cared and learned to repect him by the end of season 7, so yes I think she loved him.

I voted YES, and have my own explanation for why she kept on denying that she actually did love him: Every significant male in her life (and I do mean EVERY significant male) had either disappointed her or broken her heart (Angel, Parker, Riley, and Giles, to an extent), so she pretty much had a negative view of love. To make matters worse, she was incredibly vulnerable (having been reminded of her own mortality and having spent several months being nearly completely numb and unable to feel emotions of any kind). I believe that these two factors are at the root of her behavior during the majority of Season 6 and the latter part of Season 5 (as I believe that 'Tough Love' is the moment that she actually realized that she DID in fact love Spike, but wasn't going to admit that to anyone, least of all herself). In Season 7, I believe that she tried desperately to cultivate a feeling of friendship between herself and Spike in order to avoid really confronting the fact that she DID love Spike (because she hadn't done so prior, what with having to deal with Glory, sacrificing herself to save the world, and then spending the majority of Season 6 basically numb and devoid of all emotional capacity). As for why Spike said 'No you don't, but thanks for saying it' to her when she was finally able to admit that she did love him, I believe that he believed (in his own mind) that she said what she said simply because of the 'heat of the moment', as it were.

I think she felt for Spike. She loved him in her own way. A love that's not friend-ly love, but not boyfriend love. She cared about him and respected him. She was never in love with him, though. That's exactly why I'm not a B/S shipper. I don't think she loved or was in love with Spike the most out of all her loves (it sounds corny when I say "love" too much, lol). I firmly believed that her true love is Angel and she is Angel's true love. Yet, she felt something for Spike, no doubt about it.

slayerangel:i love the way you explain things.what you said is so true and right. She felt for him,but her true love is angel/b]...easy way to say the truth

I don't disagree with what you've said, SlayerAngel. However, I realize that, sometimes, your soulmate isn't the person whom you end up spending the rest of your life with. Buffy and Angel are a perfect example of this. Buffy WILL always love Angel, and yet I think that she now realizes what he knew from the beginning. I also believe that the same situation applies to Willow and Tara. Willow will always cherish and remember the time she spent with Tara, but she needs to move on in order to avoid being consumed by her grief over losing Tara. It is for this reason that I have no problem with Joss having Willow move on as quickly as he did, although I do not think that Joss made the right decision in pairing Willow with Kennedy simply because Kennedy is, essentially, the rich-man's version of Faith (and, therefore, is completely wrong for our favorite red-headed spellcasting ex-computer nerd)

If think that's a little too simplistic, Faith didn't know where the border lay between right and wrong, and though Kennedy can be a bit like her, I think she's completly different and at that point much more like Buffy.

Let me clarify what I mean:

Although their individual life-circumstances are different, Kennedy and Faith are very similar (almost identical) in their base personalities. Faith's actions are shaped and guided partly by her personality, but they are more heavily shaped and guided by the life she's lived, and in that respect, she and Kennedy are worlds apart. However, when you analyze their characters on a personality level, the similarities are obvious. Both Faith and Kennedy are smart-mouthed, often obnoxious, and stubborn. They're also both not afraid to go after something that they want or ditch something because it's not what they thought it was.

Also, comparisons have been made between Buffy and Faith (by Buffy herself and others), and while the argument can be made that, with a different set of circumstances, Buffy might have ended up like Faith, Buffy and Faith's base personalities are different (which isn't the case with Kennedy and Faith).

Buffy wouldve been very much like Faith if not worse if she never came to sunnydale as we saw in The Wish, Buffy wouldve become a somewhat (she still had some emotion though which we saw her show with Angel) cold hearted bitch who just didnt really care about anything just getting things done, doesnt matter if it is killing some demon, vampire, or probably even human.
