Was Buffy stronger than Faith?

Well, I think they had pretty much the same physical strength. Both had Slayer powers and I don't see why one of them should be stronger. They had different fighting techniques, which eventually affected the result of a fight.

Faith was mentally challenged. She killed people etc. So I'd say that Buffy was mentally stronger.

And emotionally? I don't know. What do you understand by emotional strength?
Buffy cried more often than Faith so... Faith wins? I don't know if you can see it that way.

I think that Buffy was mentally stronger than Faith just by the fact that she didn't abused her strenght.

Emotional Buffy was stronger in my eyes too because she learned to forgive people. I never saw Faith forgive a person in a way Buffy did! Buffy could controll her feelings and use them in a fight to make her stronger. Faith was full of hate all the time in BTVS.

Phisycal I pretend it's Buffy even if I am not really sure. I mean we never saw Faith practising. Buffy instead trained with Giles and she fight against several demons. She had more practical exercises! she tried to defence the world and had to fight against strong enemies. And that's why she won the final fight against Faith. She had more experience than Faith.

I don't think Buffy was necessarily stronger than Faith I just think she had two more years worth of experience and that counted for something. When we saw Faith come to town she was still decently new to the gig.

As for emotionally I think that Buffy wasn't really stronger, just more stabile. To go through what Faith grew up with and being a somewhat normal person takes effort so I say Faith is emotionally very strong, just a little messed up for obvious reasons, and it went south for a while. But we still see her making it back from it which I again think speak a lot for her emotional strenght. In fact I'd say that emotional strenght at times tips in Faith's favor.

If we're talking intelligence I think they're about equal honestly. I can't say I've felt I've seen any evidence to the contrary 🙂 Buffy might have had more education but I don't think that speaks against Faith's intelligence.

The closest that Buffy ever came to beating Faith in a stand up fight was when she stabbed her in the stomach, so, at that point in the two girsl' careers, I would have yo say that they were pretty much equal, with a possible VERY SLIGHT edge going to Buffy. By Season 7, though, Buffy has gained a lot more experience fighting hell gods, Trolls, Initiative constructed super soldier/demon constructs, and God only knows what else, so I would put my money on the little blond if another fight broke out.

I think Faith has a lot of going power, meaning she doesn't like to back down easy and the fact that she enjoys the fight she would just keep on going. I do think Buffy would win hands down in a fight, she's more tactical than Faith who tends to just go for it so I think that Buffy would win. That would count for emotionally and mentally too. I think Faith has issues that can hinder her Slayer powers

I thought the were fairly equal when it came to strength and how strong they were. Buffy had more experience, patience and discipline so that certainly gave her the upper hand. Until Faith can learn those skills, my guess is Buffy will usually beat her in any head to head fight.

As far as emotional strength, my votes goes to Buffy; although I thought both were strong. Buffy was much more stable and able to cope with difficulties in a more mature manner; but Faith has been through a lot in her past, and the fact that she was able to put her life back together speaks volumes. Faith seemed a little immature, especially when it came to relationships, but my guess is as she gets older and gains more experience she will become emotionally stronger.

Mentally speaking, I'm not sure. I'd say Buffy was more mature mentally, but I don't know that I'd say she was more intelligent. Buffy certainly used her head more when making decisions, but I don't think that necessarily makes Faith less mentally strong. Faith seemed totally capable of making rational intelligent decisions, she just chose not too; which speaks more to her selfishness and immaturity than anything else.

It always felt like Buffy was the stronger one. I thought maybe because it seemed like Buffy had more training than Faith. I don't know.

I think Buffy was stronger than Faith physically, mentally and emotionally but not by much during season 3.

Just because they're both Slayers doesn't mean they're equal in strength. No two people are equal powers or not.

However, after her new training with Giles during season 5, I think Buffy far surpassed Faith, who at this point was rotting in a cell.

Very well said. 🙂 I was just about to say something really similar... Glad I read through the thread, though, 'cause it saved me from having to type a lot more. LOL

Yes to all of this. Pretty much my exact thoughts.

Physical Strength: They are equal, but Buffy is a better (resourceful, controlled, trained) fighter.

Emotional Strength: Buffy is also stronger. She has more stability in her life, she has family and friends and a strong bond with her Watcher.

Mental Strength: Buffy wins this one also. Faith has many issues to overcome and will probably be constantly battling them, where Buffy is more sound of mind. Buffy is probably more "book smart" and Faith more "street smart", however.
