I know that the Magick addiction was a metaphor for drug addiction but sometimes when a person loses a loved one they grieve of alcohol. Was that what Dark Willow was a symbol for? Willow drunk on Magick and power

Well the metaphor of magic as drugs was some throwaway stuff in mid S6. They didn't mention it before, and contradicted it afterwards.
Magic is self-actualization in S3, lesbian sex in S4, personal power in S5, domestic abuse in early S6, personal power again in late S6, and then creativity/inspiration of the world in S8/9/10.
Amy is someone who grieve the lost of her life of alchohol. Dark Willow is a girl struck with intense tragedy therefore went nihilistic. She is similar to mid AtS S2 Angel. The difference is that she had personal dissatisfactions towards Buffy, Giles and Dawn which was hidden behind her sweet appearance before. And she had more power.
