Was Faith always planned to move on from Angel Season 4 to Buffy S7?

That's a good question. I'm sure it was probably planned but how cool would it have been if Faith stayed on Angel. Although then we would never have the great scene with Faith and Spike in the basement. lol
I think it was planned. Faith on Angel wouldn't really have fit then and while she's great there it's just so much more awesome to see the two Slayers, all grown up and interacting again. I think that was always the plan.

On the other hand, we could have had an entire Season of Spike/Faith interaction, with the potential of literally dozens of scenes as good, or even better. Add to that, the possibility of Spike and Faith as a team for more than just a couple of scenes. It would have been almost worth losing their basement scene to get that.
Plus, with the added power of Wolfram & Hart., Angel could have had Faith's jail sentence reduced to time already served or all charges dropped completely on some technicality.

Yeah, it was always planned. When the writers were planning the finale of Buffy they specifically wanted Faith back for the end of the series, they thought it was important for the wrap-up of her character and the resolution of the Buffy/Faith arc.
It would've been great to see Faith stay on Angel though- her three episodes on that show are fantastically well-written and are a series highlight. Almost every scene with her in is dynamite. 🙂
The more that time goes on, the more I feel that Faith in S7 of Buffy was a missed opportunity though.
Apart from all the Faith/Buffy interaction, the entire scene at the Bronze, Faith beating up Spike those times and the reappearance of the Mayoras the First there aren't really that many scenes that are truly as great as any on Angel.
I would've liked to see Faith interacting with the Scoobies more, but we don't get it. And, honestly, her use on the show was a little ham-fisted. 🙁
Basically she shows up and pretty much everybody but Buffy and a little later Spike is cool with it. Then things go wrong and immediately everybody (but Spike) turns on Buffy and kicks her out in favour of Faith's leadership.
All so 1) We can see that Buffy was right and that Faith was wrong in her decision, i.e Buffy is the better slayer when Faith 'screws up'.
2) so Faith can find out how hard it is being Buffy. (Seriously? Buffy has the raw deal here?)
and 3) Spike can be the only person to stand by poor, distraught Buffy. 🙄
Look at how she was utilsed in those three Angel eps- the focus was always on Faith as a character, struggling to do the right thing, not give into her darker urges in order to beat Angelus, and almost dying a couple of times in the process.
Don't get me wrong, I like Faith on Buffy (*ahem* the show) and I really like a lot of their scenes but overall she was utilised a lot better by the Angel writers, and we could've had more of it.

It would have been great if Faith joined the cast of Angel S5 or better yet her own spin off show, but yes I wanted more Faith and Spike scenes.
@thetopher I agree she was under utilized. I would have loved to see more interactions with the scoobies, Xander in particular, but at this point the scoobies don't even really interact with each other, it is a fail of the whole season, not enough scooby moments together. I also like Faith on Buffy. Dirty Girls is such a great episode, one of my fav Faith episodes. She always makes the episodes better. I'm glad that the writers had planned on her coming back, it was perfect.

Faith appeared in 20 of the 144 episodes of Buffy and 6 of the 111 episodes of Angel. Interestingly enough, Buffy also had 6 appearances on Angel. I agree that Faith was underutilized - the number of posts about Faith on this forum shows that people wanted more of her. Where she was used, it always worked well. @thetopher who says she was better utilized in Angel, there is no doubt that she was unforgettable there, she just wasn't there often enough.

(Re: Ethan Reigns) Um, not to be Mr.Correctness or anything, but there were 110 episodes of Angel (Unless you are counting the 10 minute unaired pilot), and Buffy only had two guest spots on Angel (Again, unless you are counting her un-SMG appearance in Soul Purpose, and her stock-footage appearances in City Of, Bachelor Party, and Just Rewards).
Sorry, I'm just very literal and precise on the subject of Buffy, Angel, and all it's details.
On the actual subject in question, I think it was planned that way, because if Faith were involved in the Jasmine final arc of Season 4, she would just have been like everybody else: Under her thrall, depressed about being brought back, and probably would have left before they took over W&H. Plus, her being in the last fight on Buffy with all the activated Slayers, plus her interactions with Spike were a better place for her to be than involved with trying to stop Jasmine.
