Was Glory more powerful than the First?

I've just finished S7 of Buffy and I have to say the First Evil was kind of a let down. They made it out to be the source of all evil, but honestly it didn't seem all that threatening at least not when compared to Glory. Even with Caleb acting as vessel for the First's power it didn't seem that strong. I mean Glory was only at a fraction of her full power in S5, but she seemed like she could have taken Caleb out pretty easily. I don't know I just feel like Glory would have made a better final Big Bad than the First.

Well, originally, the series was supposed to end with S5, so in a way, Glory is kind of a final big bad.

I liked The First. I thought he/she was an interesting concept, even if it didn't come off as well as I was hoping. In terms of raw power though, I think Glory is Buffy's top ranked villain, although there is a character you haven't met yet who comes along in Angel S5 who, I believe anyways, is by far the most powerful character from either show.

The only really huge thing The First did was summon the army of uber-vamps, who I always felt were incredibly powerful.

I agree with Always Bangel in that Glory had more Raw power, but I think your underestimating what The First has been able to do. Glory could not manipulate the same way that The First could. The First could take on the form of lost loved ones, and it knew everything about everyone, and so anyone who encountered it was completely fooled, believing they were speaking to people they loved. It was able to find out valuable information that way, and it also used that power to make people do things, Robin trying to kill Spike for example or Chloe killing herself.

I think their 'powers' came from totally different places. Glory was God girl with uber strength and a side of crazy it make her extra dangerous and unpredictable whereas the First was manipulative, calculating, and surreptitious and underhanded. It's strength was playing off others weakness. Plus an army of ubervamps to hand which freaked the living day lights out of me the first time I saw them.
But then again, I never get why people listen to what evil things whisper in their ears. They're evil; therefore what they say will be half truths filled with more evil.
For menace, I thought the First was great; definitely first Evil stuff. You know 'I'm so powerful I don't even have to rush around to fulfil my nefarious plot'. But for me, personally, Glory would be the one I'd be getting most freaked out over.

It's a bit like comparing chalk and cheese isn't it?
Glorificus = a person.
The First = Non Corporeal.
Glorificus was from another world
The First is the evil in/on this planet.

But as Glorificus had a Ben side to her then The First was inside Ben and therefore inside Glorificus, so she can't defeat The First.
